Gaming the System?

| November 17, 2020

The German government under Merkel is so brilliant it’s nearly flat broke. Now Deutsche Bank is suggesting taxing people who work from home, because they are obviously making more money somehow than those who commute to work. Now, how in the world the brilliant people at DB came to this conclusion is beyond me, but it did, and it implies that they either live where they work (luxury tax on them!) or they have no contact, close or otherwise, with the real world that we live in. Yes, it is a very, very stupid idea, but they think it’s clever… or something.  They must think that, like the icon above, all these people who were told “stay home, work from home”, etc., are somehow gaming the system, when these find individuals who proposed this “privilege tax” are doing the same things themselves.

https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/11/13/deutsche-bank-wants-privilege-tax-imposed-on-people-who-work-from-home/

The proposal is a pdf. The link to it (in English) is here. It is merely 68 pages long: https://www.dbresearch.com/PROD/RPS_EN-PROD/PROD0000000000513730/Konzept_%23_19%3A_What_we_must_do_to_rebuild.PDF?&undefined&realload=iLm3jK6E4NqIn8aLyWmVA8M65Th1sZ2WTXL9DHQAE3AnIxAgS1WRt/5pu/eq~soug8Kga~ns2l9ZoPpOEK26hg==

This is perfect reading for a long, slow day when the snow is falling thick and heavy outside and you have a fire going in the fireplace…. or maybe just need something to send you into an afternoon nap.

George Harrison said it best in “Taxman” when Harold Wilson made the Beatles pay more than 90% of their earnings to the Crown:

If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street
If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat
If you get too cold, I’ll tax the heat
If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet

‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman – The Taxman by George Harrison.

Now, since CV19 has made it near-impossible for many people to continue working at their place of employment, but it’s okay to work from home (which might become a social trend), this “privilege tax” could be considered an idiotic idea at the very least.  Most of the people who are currently working from home have no choice in the matter, so how is it a “privilege”? How?  Well, frankly, it is not, and the current second go-round, or return, of CV-19 is creating more patients than the first episode. It seems to prefer colder weather, which may just be the bug itself or may be partly the sniffles and runny noses we all have with a cold.

Deutsche Bank’s notions include someone going to the trouble of rehabbing urban centers into artists’ lofts and galleries – stuff like that – which somehow implies that there will be anyone around to look at or purchase that stuff. I don’t know what DB’s writers were smoking, but it must be pretty good stuff. Really, they should go visit Baltimore’s “urban blight” spots that used to be nice neighborhoods, and the tackier parts of Camden, NJ, which used to be a lovely area and is now a slum. But in reading that article from Breitbart and trying to wade through the daydreams of Deutsche Bank’s proposal, I realized that the people at Deutsche Bank don’t live on the same planet as you and I.

Keep an eye on our own politicians: they might try to do the same thing to people who work from home and aren’t commuting to work (no transit taxes or tolls or train/bus pass fees, boohoo!) because of the pandemic.

In addition to your rail pass,  you might have to pay a tax just to enter and exit the city’s borders some day down the road, if these clowns had their way.

Somehow, those proposed walled cities don’t seem quite so much like an SF fantasy idea any more.

Football playing lifeguards with asthma vs Cornpop in the parking lot?

JBUSMC

I think Cornpop popped that ass. His mind hasn’t been right since.

4F for pre-combat PTSD.

IIRC from reading somewhere (his lack of service (biden’s) keeps getting deleted) he had asthma. Yet he played/lettered in high school sports, including being a certified life guard at the pool. Also, too, IIRC, the Donald had reported for induction when his school deferments were over and THAT’S when they discovered the bone spurs and he was SENT HOME by the military due to medical reasons. I don’t think that there is a single one of us that served that didn’t have someone rejected while at the induction center for one medical reason or the other. In my time, there was no secret of it, we knew who was being culled as it happened, and usually the reason for the cull.

When they run out of people or things that they can tax, only then will there be no taxes.

I was almost “culled” out being an infantry officer. The dude who entered the info from my eye test result checked the box that said my vision was corrected when I didn’t wear glasses. So I had to go take a second eye test which confirmed my uncorrected vision was 20/25 in one eye. After a year on AD my eyesight had improved, as I passed a flight physical.

I failed the medical examination at MEPS. Doc does his thing with his big cold hands and says “How long have you had this hernia, son?” Went home, got it repaired, and the rest is history.

Having worked recruiting for 2 years i can tell you that Asthma after age 13 is the kiss of death to any potential recruit. They can play football or even be a cross country track star and still won’t be allowed in the Army.

Of course when Biden does it he isn’t dodging the draft, only when republican does it.

David

Believe if most sources are correct each had 5 exemptions, not 5 and 6. As I recall, you could get a 2HS if you were still in high school, and a 2S was for college students. At the time it was said you could get no more than 4 years’ of 2S before you became eligible for being called up, so if someone got a 5th exemption it would generally be medical such as 1Y (to be drafted only in a national emergency) or 4F (unfit to serve.) Both Biden and Trump had been athletic in college, and both came up deferable when another exemption was called for. I find it hard to believe Trump would have been called at 18 and found medically unfit… families with money made sure their kids went straight from 2HS to 2S without chancing being called in for a physical etc. enroute.

Twist

Biden supposedly had childhood asthma. It was so bad that he never even mentioned it in his autobiography, but he did talk extensively about being an all American athlete.

Skyjumper

At the Archmere Academy in Claymont,Biden was a standout halfback and wide receiver on the high school football team; he also played baseball and was a lifeguard.

At the University of Delaware in Newark, Biden briefly played freshman football (The reason he didn’t play a full year, was because his dad made him quit the team due to failing grades and out partying).

In 1968, Biden earned a Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law, ranked 76th in his class of 85 and was admitted to the Delaware bar in 1969.While in school, he received student draft deferments (5), and afterward was classified as unavailable for military service due to asthma.

Interesting that he played football & baseball all of the way while in high school; had played football in college until his dad made him quit because of failing grades and thru all of those years in sports, never had an asthma problem.

But, as soon as he completed the bar & couldn’t get any more deferments, he suddenly has asthma. And this was in 1968-69 when a “little” thing called the Tet Offensive happened. His draft number in 1970 would have been 185.

Appears that he suddenly came down with the “chicken fever”.

Yeah Biden, you are just a regular Joe…with a wide yellow stripe down your back.

Mason

Don’t forget to mention his nickname during his high school athletic years. I’m not making this up. It comes straight from a children’s book his wife wrote on him. Again, not kidding. According to the Biden family, Joe’s nickname was…Are you ready for it?

“Hands”

Skyjumper

Joseph “Robinette” Biden was known as “Hands”?
LOL

By the way, his real middle name IS Robinette.

Isn’t that a small bird of the Robin variety?

Asthma, uh-huh…

RetiredDevilDoc8404

Ol’ Lunchpail Joe the plagiarist’s plagiarist got a phony asthma diagnosis to avoid being drafted? I’m shocked, shocked I tell you. Not honest Joe from Scranton, another clown who will play Army with real troops and tie their hands with moronic ROE because they have no idea of how the military works but have to prove their military prowess somehow. SMH.

Assuming the steal succeeds and Biden is sworn in instead of Trump, how long before there is a major war escalation or new war?

How long before Putin grabs more of other folks territory? China tries to take Taiwan?

Iran says “we got nukes!”

The Brass would want biden to take over so we can continue the wars/conflict thing because if the troops are all coming home their (brass) stocks in war production companies would go down the tubes.

I love how cities like LA, NYC, and Chicago are already pulling this shut, as well as the entire state of MA.

Personally, DB’s “modest” $10/day tax doesn’t SOUND bad at first, but that comes out to $2500/yr. Not so modest anymore.
