Three Thugs Run from Wife With a Gun – More Armed Citizen Stories

A woman was asleep in her bed when she heard her husband’s voice. She heard the sounds of a fight down the hall and her husband shout in pain. She rolled out of bed and grabbed the gun they keep between the mattresses. She moved toward the center of the house where she saw several men beating her husband. At least one of the intruders was armed. The armed man hit her husband with his gun, and then pointed the gun at her. The defending woman shot one of the attackers several times. All three intruders ran from the home and drove away.

Police arrested one of the attackers at a nearby hospital and arrested a second man soon after. The attackers were charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Each was held in jail on a hundred thousand dollars bail.

Linn County Attorney concludes no criminal charges warranted in August 30 Palo home invasion shooting death

The Linn County Attorney’s Office determined that Jordan Schulte’s actions were justified when he shot and killed Kevin Harris on August 30 after Harris broke into Schulte’s Palo home.

Linn County Attorney Jerry Vander Sanden said in a news release that he concurs with Linn County Sheriff investigators in their conclusion that Schulte’s actions were justified under the law to protect himself and his family.

On August 30, officials said Kevin Harris had broken into Schulte’s home and threatened him. That’s when Schulte shot Harris.

The county attorney’s announcement came after completing a review of the Linn County Sheriff’s Office investigative file about the incident.

No matter the sad news from other media sources, we can always be cheered by the good news on the TAH Feel Good Stories. Tanks Mate, we needed that.

Kool article on the H&H, got lost over there for awhile. Well played. Reading the section on the designer of the cartridge that came to H&H and said, basically, I got this bullet, build me a rifle for it. Brings us to mind of the Big Nose Cannon that was carried to Fairchild-Republic. “Here’s a nose cannon/gatling gun, build us an airplane around it.”

Good news for today.

And if anyone wants to give me one of those H&H guns to make room in your gunsafe, I have a nice home for it waiting.

I would love to have such a piece of art as one of those engraved guns. Not that I would ever consider firing it, but what would a round like that cost…considering .50BMG costs?

Last time I saw .700 nitro for sale it was $20.

Per round

In 1990.

I had the opportunity to handle one. Magnificent.

Hondo

Cost for .700 Nitro today seems to be about $50 ea.

Cost for .600 Nitro seems to range from $45 to $150 ea (vintage Kynoch).

Might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere; I just did a quick look.

H&H used ‘Express’ similarly to how we use ‘magnum’ – as a lengthened version of an existing cartridge with more room for powder, leading to higher velocities hence higher-energy projectiles. Think I read once the the .600 Nitro Express was a misnomer – there was no existing round to lengthen, it was an entirely new round. (“Nitro” at the time referred to that newfangled nitrocellulose powder.)

This is so sad….
