Boomer’s Sunday

| October 4, 2020

It’s time once again, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, for Boomer’s Sunday, where I cull through his weekly offering of ‘toons, and pick the best. Honorable Mention goes to my pals Chuck, Gerhart, Woke Infidel, AW1 Scott, AW1 Rod, and our own Cameron, Skippy, HMCS(FMF) ret, Poetrooper, Mason, Jeff LPH 3 63-66, thebesig, Keepin’ It Real, and Ex, who also have provided some entertainment. These are mostly from the right, with humor scattered around. I am more than willing to post up differing points of view if they don’t annoy me. Now what could be fairer than that? So here we are, with the ‘toons that may amuse, make you think, or just piss you off.

Six to one, half a dozen to the other for which one is worse for you.

Why are people so nice and polite at the grocery store or the hardware store, but the people who go online and post those memes are antisocial idiots?

Is there a vaccine for that yet?

Even in medieval times, they knew that Artillery was THE King of Battle. In the contest between Fortress and Warhead, Warhead will win…Every.Damn.Time!

Huzzah for Sgt William Harvey Carney 54th MA Rgmt whose actions at Fort/Battery Wagner Jul 1863 was loosely portrayed by Mr. Morgan Freeman in the movie Glory. Assload of Historical inaccuracies in that motion picture but the base story was true. Damn shame that the ignorant of the world vandalized the War Memorial that was erected to Pay Honors to these Men…in Boston…by Blacks.

Tanks Guys, another Great Sunday Selection!

Ah. No.

Medieval artillery was cumbersome, expensive and highly ineffective to the point that most sieges were resolved by starving the garrison or by breaking the siege from the outside. Trebuchets, catapults, ballistres, onagers, etc, were of very limited use, especially against well-garrisoned castles who could defend the lenght of the walls and constantly threaten the besiegers with a sally.

Only with the introduction of gunpowder siege artillery in the 1400s did the equation started to change, leading to the star-shaped fortress design and low rise reciding walls.
