The Seneca Police chief announced Tuesday that no charges will be filed in a Sep. 12 shooting that claimed the life of a man at an apartment complex.

Coroner Karl Addis said the shooting happened on Fair Oaks Circle.

The victim was identified as 35-year-old Charles Antonio Clark.

Seneca police said previously that the shooting unfolded around 2:11 a.m. at the Fair Oaks Circle Apartments, when officers got reports of multiple gunshots being fired. When they arrived, police say they found a large crowd, with Clark lying at the doorway to an apartment. Clark suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and officers tried life-saving efforts. Police: Man fatally shot while assaulting woman in Billings Heights

Police said Tuesday a man who was fatally shot at a Billings Heights residence was killed while assaulting a woman.

The fatal shooting happened shortly after 4 a.m. Monday at a residence in the 300 block of Nash Lane. Officers found 43-year-old Robert Aven Kolter from Roundup who had been shot. He died after being taken to the hospital.

In a press release Tuesday, police said investigators determined that Kolter had traveled from Roundup to see a 33-year-old woman who was staying at the Heights property. The two were in a relationship, police said.

A 34-year-old Billings man was living in a separate building on the property, police said.

Prior to the shooting, Kolter was assaulting the woman, police said. The woman was strangled and pistol whipped and Kolter tried to force her to leave with him.

Waukegan police said an attempted home invasion left two men dead in the front yard of a home Tuesday morning.

“I cannot remember the last time we had two people try and break into a home, if that is what happened, where they are shot in the front yard,” said Waukegan Police Department Commander Joe Florip. “This is an isolated and specific incident, and I do not remember anything like this happening.”

The shooting happened at around 10 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 100-block of Frolic Avenue.

Waukegan police said someone inside of the home called 911 around 10 a.m. after they said two men, armed with a gun, tried to break into their house.
