Fake Face Mask Exemption Cards

The Time.com website and several other sources are reporting a circulation of fake “I don’t have to wear a face mask” cards, better known as a “Face Mask Exempt Card.”

Face Mask Exemption ID Cards Are Going Viral and the Department of Justice Says They’re Fake

Recently, “face mask exempt” cards have appeared on social media, claiming the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has cleared certain individuals from wearing protective face coverings to stem the spread of COVID-19. This week, the DOJ declared that it has not issued and does not endorse any such identification.

Many images of “face mask exempt” cards circulated online include the statement: “Wearing a face mask posses a mental and/or physical risk to me. Under the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) I am not required to disclose my condition to you.” Many images also include the DOJ reporting number, the DOJ’s seal and the warning: “If found in violating of the ADA you could face steep penalties.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Middle District of North Carolina posted an example of one of these cards on Friday, tweeting, “Fraudulent Facemask Flyers, ‘Exempt’ Cards not Authorized by U.S. Department of Justice.”

According to the New York Daily News, these cards “started popping up on a Facebook page run by anti-mask group, the Freedom to Breathe Agency.”

Then, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maine posted a tweet showing an example of another card that has been circulating in that state.

The lengths some people are willing to go are staggering.  I can think of several other cards I’d like to carry that gives me exemption from many things. i.e. exempt from paying sales tax, exempt from following speed limit, etc.  List goes on…

I’m suffering from a severe case of lack-a-nookie. And thirst. Please provide me with free hookers and coldbeer.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Get your own confounded hookers, 5th/77th!

I’m starting to have some doubts about Dr. Faustus’s — er, sorry, Fauci’s responses to questions as the one he gave this morning to a question about ‘herd immunity’. He said we won’t be able to get it going like we did with measles, adding ‘we’ve conquered measles’.

Uh, no, we haven’t conquered measles, because there are kids whose parents refuse to get them vaccinated, which means that if they pick up measles from someone else who isn’t vaccinated and gets sick (adult or child, doesn’t matter), they’ll get measles, too. Same thing with chicken pox, whooping cough, diphtheria – all that stuff. If people don’t get vaxxed for it, they’ll get it from someone who’s carrying it.

This coronavirus is starting a 2nd go-round already, despite what politicians think, so make sure you have plenty of your favorite beverages and foodstuffs on hand, in addition to weaponry and ammo, because if/when CV-19 pulls back, regroups and strikes again, my gut feeling is “no vaxx yet, so avoid crowds”.

      But that’s just me.

Ex… 😆 😛 😉 That kinda card is as worthless as the no mask card. Never had to rent female companionship, tho I mighta come out cheaper if I had of. Never accepted gratuities from the grateful female companions, tho I did get accept some standing ovations now and again. 😛

Like most of us in our generation we got all the vacs available, back when, including the polio in the sugar cube. Got most, if not all of them, again upon induction. I think the only childhood disease I ever had was mumps and a slight case of rheumatic (?) fever. I did get the shingles shot a few years ago, and the pneumonia shot last October. Usually don’t get the flu shot cause if I do, I get the flu…if I don’t then I don’t get the flu. Go figure. My young’un (s – steps too) got all that they were supposed to and my Grands also. Some of the soccer Moms that Daughter has met didn’t get the vacs for their kids, so she avoids them like the plague itself.

I generally avoid crowds anyhow, wash my hands, use kleenex, and stay away from sick folks. The biggest hassle the ChiCom Bug has caused me, besides the cancellation of my long planned vacation (have I mentioned that?), is going to the big city K Roger less often, and not having my Historical Activities/Round Tables/Meetings as I usually do. My IT Man set this chromie up with the Zoom thing. Now that they have gotten the supply chain for food stuffs a little better, I’m gradually getting my larder back to pre bug levels. No need to stock up on cartridges…you know..what with that tragedy of the leaky boat, crossing the quicksand bog lake during the hurrinado/tornacane.

I’m still of the opinion that this was a deliberate attack on the world by the ChiComs, just to see if it would work. And Falsie is a minion. And before everyone screams that China would not endanger their people and their world markets, I say “Bull Cookies!” Human life means absolutely nothing to the ChiComs and selling to the world market was just a means to get the cash needed to steal technology from others and to spread terror and discontent. YMMV

Conspiracy addicts have to have their fix. The world cannot supply them with a simple situation that they cannot twist to suit their conspiracy mindset. As one whose health places me in the extreme risk category, I wear one. I don’t care if you don’t as long as you are no where near me or mine. Preferably you stay home and work on your fix.

    Oh and first…..

  3. thebesig says:

Written in the first person. Fail. Not matching it to any exemption actually listed, if listed, is another fail. Card “issuer” is not the same government level that required the wearing of face masks? Fail.

These guys are as bad as many of the military phonies that get called out here.

  4. SgtBob says:

NC US attorney says the cards are “fraudulent.” So, bearers will be arrested and face federal charges of some kind or another?

    • OWB says:

Could it be fraudulent card if no such card exists? Just wondering, not trying to justify it or anything.

Some folks just need to grow up. While you have the right to dictate what happens in YOUR space, you do not get to dictate what happens in mine, or my neighbors. Simple good manners would go a very long way with this.

  5. Roh-Dog says:

    My card is right here:
The RIGHT of the PEOPLE to be SECURE in THEIR PERSONS, houses, papers, and effects,[a] against UNREASONABLE SEARCHES and seizures, ¡shall not be violated!, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
    (Emphasis added, because reasons)
I’d say that someone trying to add something to my person violates my securédness and unreasonably searches my effects.
    But WTF do I know?!?

    • OWB says:

Would not attempt to disagree with you because I don’t. However, neither you nor I has a right to infect the other with anything.

I am willing to take reasonable precautions while I enjoy life to the fullest. Unfortunately, it is the careless among us who require us to be much more cautious about everything than we should have to be.

Meanwhile, I will continue to laugh at people wearing masks while driving alone in their cars. I don’t particularly enjoy wearing one at all, but do so to protect myself from rude and careless people who refuse to wear one at the grocery store.

btw, we are not required to wear masks here, but we are encouraged to do so. Most places I go, the vast majority of people are wearing some sort of face covering. And we have not suffered high rates of infection but have had enough to people’s attention.

Do whacha wanna. Just don’t get in my face doing it. OK?

      • Roh-Dog says:

        Oh, no doubt!
Do I wear a mask? You bet your ass!
        Conditionally tho.
I usually stop by the packie during the day. The owner is there and he’s often the only one. I keep my distance so does he.
If I go someplace where the IQ is lower I’d wear one, but almost flat out refuse to go anywhere that demands one.

But my License to Fart that I got at Spencers in 1982 is still valid, right?

The only thing we have to fear is Washington itself.

  8. Graybeard says:

Friend of mine shared, on the Book of Face, a “Pants Exempt” card that (supposedly) exempts one from having to wear pants.

    I suggested a kilt.

(He is an oilfield worker, btw.)

  9. Pam 645X0 says:

I’m betting these folks will be the same ones with the fake service and emotional support dogs? Just wondering.

  10. As a Snipe on board the OKIE 3, I was exempt from having a fresh air chit on my person to produce when asked for by non Snipes since I worked out of A Gangs diesel engine and A/C filter cleaning shops which was up in the forward hanger bay in Air Dale country. Same went to the R Div shop which was also in the hanger bay.

  12. OldCorpsTanker72 says:

Why would you possibly need a card? Just don’t wear the damn thing.

  13. Fjardeson says:

You mean get out of jail free cards aren’t real? (/sarc)
