In 1876 the Lee Monument Association commissioned a lithograph of a painting by Adalbert Volck. The lithograph, depicting Robert E. Lee on his horse, was the basis for the bronze statue created by French sculptor Antonin Mercié, with the cornerstone in place on October 27, 1887. With all of Virginia’s other issues solved. Governor Northam has decided it’s time for General Lee to go.

Northam to announce removal of Lee statue

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam is expected to announce plans Thursday for the removal of an iconic statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee from Richmond’s prominent Monument Avenue, a senior administration official told The Associated Press.

The governor will direct the statue to be moved off its massive pedestal and put into storage while his administration seeks input on a new location, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to speak before the governor’s announcement.

The move comes amid turmoil across the nation and around the world over the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after a Minneapolis officer pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck for several minutes, even after he stopped moving.

Better to keep it out of sight of the wankers and butthurt idiotas than to let them damage it and have to replace it. STorage for safety is less expensive than recasting a bronze statue that size.

Governor Blackface/KKK outfit, the same guy who thinks it’s ok to leave babies uncared for until they die, wants to remove a statue?

JUST LIKE the Communists and Nazis did, getting rid of History and monuments that are deemed “offensive “.

My dream is that one day, when abortion is seen by everyone as a barbaric practice that kills a developing (yet no less human) human being, that statues of feminists and lefty pols like Nancy will be torn down.

The activist Left keeps wining cultural victories wherever the Republitards refuse to defend. I am not even going to pretend that the stupid party is capable of offensive operations this late in the cultural war.

I suppose next they’ll rename the university back to “Washington College” and remove Lee’s name from the list of prior presidents.

Oh … yeah ….. Washington owned slaves. Gee what a conundrum. What to do; what do do???

From TAH, 28 June 2017, when Northam was running for Governor.

    Jonn posted Northam’s Military records:

Northram’s First Commercial when he ran for office. He portrayed himself to Voters that he was a Gulf War Veteran who treated Soldiers with combat head injuries.

In other words, he gave folks the impression that he was Boots on the Ground in Desert Storm.–campaign-2017/2017/08/10/b8662282-7dd5-11e7-b2b1-aeba62854dfa_video.html

In reality, Northam served at Landstuhl Hospital in Germany as a Child Neurologist during Desert Storm (please see Northram’s Military Records that Jonn obtained). He never set foot in the Desert.

I DARE him to take down Stonewall Jackson’s statue at VMI….where Northram graduated.

The individual in the Eastern Medical School yearbook that is Blackface is wearing eyeglasses.

Northram did not wear eyeglasses while a Student at VMI and Eastern Medical School.

Northram is most likely the individual underneath the KKK Hood.

IMHO, it is worse to dress as a Member of the KKK versus being Blackface.

If it was Quantrill or Bedford Forrest, they’d have a point. But Lee? The same Robert E. Lee who promoted not only national but also racial reconciliation after the war? The ignorance of these people is painful.

The POS Northram, a chancre mechanic, not even qualified/worthy to lance a boil on Bobbie Lee’s little toe.

This statue and every other War Memorial in this Country is at risk for destruction. Put it in a Museum/warehouse? What museum was torched and vandalized in Richmond the other night? HQs UDC.

Get ready Little Lady…Hell is coming to breakfast.

Nah, put Blackface Northam in storage instead.

  15. Mason says:

How the fuck does a guy who gets caught wearing blackface or a KKK hood (he can’t remember which), then admits at a press conference to wearing blackface on another occasion (impersonating Michael Jackson), offers to demonstrate the jig he danced for the press, actually starts doing the dance before his wife steps in, was known as “Coonman” to his friends, and supports literally killing newborn babies still have a job?

Trump joked that he could shoot someone in Time’s Square and still remain popular. Coonman actually has proof that he can. There’s really nothing he could do without losing the confidence of the left. I suppose if he misgendered someone they’d finally shut him down.

My favorite graduate of the US Naval Academy had this to say.

“It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so, and will follow it by suppressing opposition, subverting all education to seize early the minds of the young, and by killing, locking up, or driving underground all heretics.”

How is what Governor Blackface doing than what the Taliban did. Anyone else remember the pre-9/11 Taliban actions in the spring of 2001

The Buddhas of Bamyan were two 6th-century monumental statues of Gautama Buddha carved into the side of a cliff in the Bamyan valley in the Hazarajat region of central Afghanistan, 230 kilometres (140 mi) northwest of Kabul at an elevation of 2,500 metres (8,200 ft). Built in 507 CE (smaller) and 554 CE (larger) the statues represented the classic blended style of Gandhara art. They were respectively 35 and 53 m (115 and 174 ft) tall

The main bodies were hewn directly from the sandstone cliffs, but details were modeled in mud mixed with straw, coated with stucco. This coating, practically all of which wore away long ago, was painted to enhance the expressions of the faces, hands, and folds of the robes; the larger one was painted carmine red and the smaller one was painted multiple colors. The lower parts of the statues’ arms were constructed from the same mud-straw mix supported on wooden armatures. It is believed that the upper parts of their faces were made from great wooden masks or casts. The rows of holes that can be seen in photographs held wooden pegs that stabilized the outer stucco.

The statues were blown up and destroyed in March 2001 by the Taliban, on orders from leader Mullah Mohammed Omar,[5] after the Taliban government declared that they were idols.[6] An envoy visiting the United States in the following weeks said that they were destroyed in protest of international aid exclusively reserved for statue maintenance while Afghanistan was experiencing famine,[7] while the Afghan Taliban Foreign Minister claimed that the destruction was merely about carrying out Islamic religious iconoclasm. International opinion strongly condemned the destruction of the Buddhas.
