TAH Roll Call (Pinned)
TAH has a spirit of strong camaraderie among those who frequent here, both military and civilian. The diverse experiences and opinions that people share is invaluable. Over the years many have come and gone for one reason or another, however, there are many who have been here for years. Some visit hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or rarely. Whether by contributing, commenting, supporting financially or just lurking, your presence is welcome and appreciated.
With that said, we would like to conduct a TAH roll call. We encourage everyone to simply sound off and perhaps if you so choose, include a brief update of what you have been up to. We are especially interested in those that frequently commented in the past but have not in a while.
We look forward to your participation.

Still around. Lurking mostly. Lost my job and had to relocate to the Savannah Ga area. Everything was going well but now my wife is hospitalized due to her alcoholism and I’m debating whether I still have the strength to stay with her. My 8 year old wants her back but I don’t want us to be hurt anymore.
My wife just got out after going into a mental health treatment center before Halloween- turns out she really is schizophrenic.
I feel for ya Cav- sometimes it is very hard to try again after that kind of thing. Gotta take care of you and yours, and you are the best one to decide how.

You must do what is best for yourself and your children, and that does not always mean staying in a toxic place. Sometimes it’s best to just walk away. I did, twice.

That is a hard row to hoe. Mrs. GB went into full-blown manic-depression after the birth of our 2nd child and was not the woman I married. It was hard, but we found her help (back then we didn’t even know what the hell manic-depression was) and with the proper help she has been doing fine for 30+ years.
I gave up a PhD to save my wife, and it was hard to do. I’m not really all that strong, but I’m stubborn.
I had the support of my family and our church. If you have a support network there to just be there, great. Find one if you don’t.
You know your situation best, and your wife. I pray she wants to get well. If so, you’ve got a chance I believe.

Right after Basic Airborne, got orders for 41st FA Brigade, Babenhausen Germany…out in late 91. Was in Germany during Desert Shield/Storm, the closest I ever came to shots fired.
Sittin at a desk working customer service at a construction supply yard- I check in daily, kinda get a fix, if ya know what I mean.

I´m a reader from a small town near Hamburg, Germany. Did my time as a draftee in the german armed forces as a „Panzergrenadier”. Being rather unathletic I was quite a shitty infantryman and didn´t earn anything. But I finished my duty and I´m proud of it.
I don´t have any connections to the U.S. armed forces at all. I can´t explain why I love your site so much and why I visit it daily.
Perhaps because veterans and soldiers are treated with so much respect in your country.
Over here soldiers are treated really bad. Traveling home without insults is impossible when you´re wearing your uniform. And handshakes or stuff like that are completely unimaginable. It´s really sad.
I have some random sites I visit, and have for years, that I’m no where even closely affiliated with. But, like you, I fit right in. Glad to have you around, sir.

I grew up in Western Washington I am thankful I have spent the last 25 years on the Eastern side of the Cascade Mountains.
Cold war weekend warrior 19E who somehow managed to get a commission. All of my service was in the reserve components. I did pull a couple of extended tours of duty; first with 2/1 Cavalry, 2 AD (this was my dream assignment, to serve with the longest mounted, active cavalry regiment in the Army)in 85 and secondly during the Gulf War at Ft Lewis with the 104th Division (basically a back to back series of 5 ATs). Worked hard, tried to learn from stepping on my crank, and owe any success in my career to some outstanding NCO’s and patient senior officers.
Married for 22 years to the real combat soldier in our family; Mrs Dino. She served in Korea during the late 70’s and drove ammo trucks in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. Pretty kick ass for a Clerk-Typist, huh?
Currently working for the State of WA in one of the eastern Washington mostly forgotten regional offices.

Welcome to the club. I cam here right after Jonn established the site, following COB6 over from his site. With 78 laps around the Sun completed, working on 79, I am “old school”.
You have me by two years and I happily concede but agree about being old school.
I would not survive in today’s PC military nor would I want to. Back in the day our guys would have a beer with lunch at the club then spend the afternoon hanging AIM-17 missiles on a deuce, never had an accident. Today if you have a beer after work in uniform you are so screwed. Used to be okay for boys to chase girls and occasionally for girls to chase boys. No mas.
Present and accounted for, SIR! Been here, been there. Done this, done that. Collected t-shirts while I was at it. And good ol Daddy Birdbath is still a meatcicle.

First off, I love the TAH community, and it was an emotional week when I found out Jon passed. It did affect me.
I live in the Bay Area, California – full of trannies, Marxists, and other haters. I’m also a teacher (Thank you GI Bill).
Besides the cost of living, I love it here.
Was a Scout in First Cav Division during the surge in Diyala Province, FOB Normandy/Warhorse. Lot’s of Islamic State. 9th Cav, Buffalo Soldier. “We Can, We Will.”

Get a chance check out Fort Robinson State Park @ Crawford Nebraska. Nice facility, killer museum, fine destination vacation spot. Home of the Buffalo Soldiers. Been twice & spent a week each time. Still did get to see and do all that was available. Google fu it.

I came here from that other site I can’t remember the name of that Sgt. Hanson posted on. I served only 3 years but I think they were significant years, 67-70. Nam vet Feb 68-Mar 69. My last duty station was Marine Detachment USNDC Portsmouth N H. I am a currently retired but still working part time tractor trailer driver. I enjoy the topics and comments very much. I check in almost daily but comment only occasionally. The armed forces of all branches are my favorite team!

I am still around, got a lot going on, nearly all of it is positive, still healthy enough to be doing some work, even after 78 laps around the Sun. Still chasing posers, still watching for Kyle Barwan to get back to his old crap. Still working my dogs, shooting nearly daily, and listening to AC-130s, F-35s, F-22s, F-18s and Osprey aircraft over the place. I even enjoy hearing the Navy’s trainer helicopters from Whiting Field NAS as they work formation training over my place. Life is good.
I could have mentioned that I am old school enough to have worn OG-107 fatiques, Block caps, worn bright patches and insignia, white t-shirts and white boxers, did Jump School at the 101st Airborne School while in Charlie Co, 1st Airborne Battle Group, 506th Infantry, before re-enlisting to be a crew chief on “A” model HUEYs. 3/60 to 4/64 Currahee!

83 to 07 both active and Reserve. Did nothing special. Just my job. Hoping to live to at least 60 to get my retirement pay and medical. Meantime I am working at an ECS shop at Polk as a maintenance inspector close to the FLS on north fort. Anyone that finds themselves in a maintenance bind while on rotation come by the shop and ask for TC. I’ll do what I can to help but, probably give you some shit in the process.

I have posted a few times. Civilian here. I came for the Stolen Valor. I have a brother and several friends who are veterans. I was naive and didn’t realize their were people that would be so low to lie and embellish. Opened my eyes wide. I enjoy watching them get roasted here, I wish SCOTUS would find that a more biting law against SV was constitutional. They deserve much more punishment. I’ve been here around 5 years mostly lurking.
Been here a long time. Assisted with a few Phony Investigations. My Best work was the Round Ranger LOL I got his entire record Packet from the NC National Guard. Saved Jonn a lot of work on that one as he was tied up with a few others at the time. I am glad the site continues on in Jonn’s Honor, he will always be missed and never forgotten. Getting paid more money to fly more hours a year while spending more time at home.
I flew circles over third world shitholes making sure the guys dropping bombs and shooting 30mm DU rounds hade enough gas to be there when they were needed. Spent some time as a lAir Mobility Liaison at Fort Benning, somewhere between the towers and the airfield. During that time I had opertunities to sit at a desk at Bastion AB/Camp Leatherneck and Bagram AB for a few months. Went back to flying, got an early retirement, because there were too many pilots. Than laughed my ass off when big Blue was asking people to come back about a year later, because there was not enough pilots.
Just a lurker. 13 years US Army as 74F. One year as National Guard 12B. 67 and still working with no hope of retirement.
I’ve been reading here for a couple years, enjoy it, lots of perspectives unique to our special mindsets, i.e. trooper talk for troopers hahahaha

As others, just a civilian, started watching (and learning from) TAH while our 2nd son was in Iraq with some Indian-head Stryker group. Hung around just because I enjoy the back-and-forth, and I even learn some stuff.
Dad served as what we’d now call a SAW gunner during WWII, which is what 2nd son did in Iraq. Oldest of my brothers (still younger than me) unaccountably became the black sheep of the family and joined the Navy, served on I think the USS Ranger. His son, my nephew, is a currently-serving bubble-head. My grandfathers served in WWI, my great-great-grandfathers served in the Confederate Army, and at least one of our ancestors served in the American Revolution. I was waiting on my draft notice when Nixon stopped the draft, and being engaged to Mrs. GB never joined up.
Currently retired from the State of Texas, working whatever I can to supplement the income, while caring for a brother in a nursing home and enjoying 8, soon to be 9, grandchildren.
And I guess that when I get a moment I need to finish the Stolen Valor Race standings up to the point where we lost Jonn. I kinda lost enthusiasm for that project after that.
To GB, I tell people that never served that they didn’t miss anything, you are a very valued part of our family and thank you for your support and wisdom.
BTW, I retired from the state last year so I feel your pain, Ha!

USMC 92-96. 3/8 in Lejeune and last 4 months on the Marine Corps rifle team in Quantico. Went back on active duty with 1/23 when they activated to go to Iraq. Retired state trooper and head dishwasher at Camp Animal.
I miss Jonn. Miss his calls. Miss him saying, “love ya darlin'” Miss his friendship and support. Miss the hijinks with him. Just freakin’ miss him.

I stay in touch with a few guys I served with in the 25th in 66/67, and 8 of those I flew with in 69/70 as part of A/2/17 Cav, 101st.
Lurker here. Found you guys thanks to Michelle Malkin, started reading this place daily in early 2015 when I needed something to keep my mind off the mending of my shattered tibia. Husband got out of the AF 1.5 years ago after they screwed up his head (but won’t admit it, of course) and I miss being an AF wife. Oh well, at least I can remember 9 good years of my husband saving the world in his WC-135.
I retired from the bench in 2014, and practice law part time these days. Like a few other TAH members, I slept well for the first time in years the night I heard Bernath augured in. Still follow TAH daily and am very proud of the work you guys do busting poseurs. The sad part of all this is that when I see a guy with a Viet Nam vet hat or Ranger t shirt I always wonder “is he for real or just a wanna be.”
Last week I visited the Palm Springs Air Museum (highly recommended) and was in the gift shop waiting for my grandkids to scope everything out. The gift shop has a large board where they have miniature medals and rank insignia etc for sale. Sadly, the only two articles that they were sold out on were the seal tridents and Sniper badges. A lot more wanna be’s out there than the real thing. Keep up the good fight guys!

I can’t remember how I found my way into the TAH Tavern, but it was refreshing to find a place free of PC bullshit – and very often gut-bustingly funny.
Explanation of user name: grew up in North Dakota, now live in Indiana (for 20 years now).
Quick story: When I was a supervisor, I had a standing-schedule staff meeting every week. One of my staff was a veteran Marine (13 years enlisted). He started showing up late for the staff meeting. At a subsequent meeting, I told him he would be punished for being late, whereupon I took out my smartphone and played “Anchors Aweigh”. The look of pain on his face was priceless! Hw was never late to a meeting again – in fact, he would get to the meeting room 10 minutes early!

23 years active duty Army, 68W4H…retired in 08 after leaving Iraq, and have been here in Afghanistan the last 10 years as an Advisor.
Mrs Savage has 11 years as an Army Nurse and got out when the war began to raise our offspring when it looked like we would both be deployed.
Both my brats are adults now, and I have just relocated the entire family from Minnesota to “Bama.
Taxes and politics in Minnesota had become unbearable….I imagine I’ll do another 24 months here and call it quits.
Civilian firefighter…well, captain now, still not used to that part. Going on 18 years of doing that for a living, 20 if you count my volunteer time. Really hating the fact that my crew full of 20-year-old firefighters are making me feel old in my mid-30s.
Also one of the millions of Americans trapped in Soviet-occupied California. Currently working overtime to pay off Mrs. Whitey’s SUV, hoping to have some ammo money left over once that’s done. Also need to buy carbines for the kids.
