50 Marines headed to Benghazi
A day late and a dollar short, a Marine “fast team” is headed to Libya to protect the pile of rubble that used to be our consulate there according to Fox News.
The official said a Marine “fast team” is being sent from the U.S. Naval base in Rota, Spain. They are not yet on the ground.
The move comes after President Obama ordered “all necessary resources” provided to Libya to support the security of U.S. personnel in the country.
In a statement, Obama also said he’s directed his administration to “increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe.”
Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other American staff members were killed in the attacks Tuesday.
While I’m certain that most Americans are outraged by the pictures of Ambassador Stevens’ body being carried through the streets, I don’t think it’s particularly helpful to post it all over the internet. And, yes, we all want to talk tough about going over there and kicking some ass, but I don’t see lines of youngsters lining up at recruiting station. I’m also curious as to what 50 Marines coming from Spain will be able to do at this point, unless they’re going to do like the Marines did in Tripoli in 1804 during the Barbary War and fight through the streets.
If ever there was need for drone attacks, this one is ideal – Hellfire missiles to cover the evacuation.

Brief update: CNN’s reporters for the 10AM segment made references to the 444 days of the Iranian hostage crisis and how they were released when Reagan was inaugurated. Fox is doing the same thing. That event launched “Nightline” on ABC, after the regular news, and gave Ted Koppel (a REAL journalist, like Peter Jennings) a long career.
I said I thought this might fade away to be replaced by glamour and glitz. Perhaps I was wrong. If so, I hope something good comes out of this, and that the damage that has been done to this country can be repaired.

Watching the news this morning, someone reporting for CNN (did not catch the name) had video of people in Cairo (I think) saying “It’s clear Obama is guilty” and not blaming the USA.
And this morning, the Morsi government in Egypt announced that it will allow only one demonstration against that crapper film which is the alleged basis for all of this, when it’s really about no jobs and no results from the so-called “Arab Spring” in 2011. Syria’s civil war has been bumped off the air in favor of this stuff. In Sanaa, Yemen and in Cairo, Egypt, people have said on camera that they do not blame the USA, they blame Obama, that it’s clear he is the guilty party.
Actually, the guilty party is Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, an Egyptian living in Los Angeles who has been under Federal investigation for fraud, has a police record, and overdubbed the actors’ speech in his crappy film that no one saw until it was translated into Arabic – and what do you want to bet that he’s the one who did the translations and maybe even the over-dubbing?
If he really feels that way, and he’s a criminal to boot, then let’s see the Feds pick him up – they know where he is -and deport him to Egypt and let the Egyptian government (and crowds) handle it, and get back to what’s important, like exposing reporters who conferred on which question they were all going to ask Romney at his press conference.
