Man shot, killed after allegedly attempting to break into West Tallahassee home, police say

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A homicide investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed Monday morning after allegedly trying to break into a home in west Tallahassee, according to a Tallahassee Police Department watch commander.The incident unfolded at about 6:30 a.m. at the Redpoint Apartments, a housing complex located at 2636 Mission Road that is “designed especially with Florida State University students in mind,” according to a TPD press release and the Redpoint website.
Police found a man suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived. Officers immediately began to render aid, the press release said, but he ultimately died there.
A TPD watch commander told WCTV early Tuesday that the man police found was shot after attempting to burglarize the apartment.

Southeast Alabama shooting leaves man dead, second victim with head injuries, authorities say

A 59-year-old man was killed and a second person suffered head injuries in a shooting late Monday morning in southeast Alabama, authorities said.Enterprise police responded to the 800 block of County Road 266 around 11:05 a.m. Monday on a call of a shooting, the department said.
Officers found a “male individual” with head injuries and a deceased man with a gunshot wound.
The deceased victim was identified as Patrick John Cerqua, 59, of Houston County, according to Coffee County Coroner Arnold Woodham. He was pronounced dead at 11:20 a.m.
