Bodycam Footage contradicts police brutality narrative

Deshawn Dante Leeth assaulted a law enforcement officer, stole the trooper’s vehicle, then led police on an 11-minute chase. He crashed the officer’s vehicle; this was his second crash for the day. Pennsylvania State Police ended up fatally shooting Leeth. It did not take long for Leeth to be showcased as a force in his community and as a father on an X post. This post showed him with a different appearance and demeanor while describing Leeth’s life as “stolen” by the police. However, bodycam footage of Leeth’s conduct painted a completely picture of him.

From USA Supreme:

The footage shows Leeth, who had a criminal history including nine home invasion guilty pleas from 2012, per MLive [] <sic>, assaulting an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper on the Ohio Turnpike after crashing his vehicle. Leeth stole the trooper’s cruiser and led police on an 11-minute chase, during which he can be heard talking to himself and praying, before crashing again in North Sewickley, Beaver County. Pennsylvania State Police then used “legal intervention,” fatally shooting Leeth after an altercation following the crash, as detailed in a WTAE report on April 9 [] <sic>. The Beaver County District Attorney is investigating, with involved troopers on administrative duty.

Leeth, who founded Underdawg Nation in 2021 to help at-risk youth after his 2023 prison release, was hailed as a “youth ambassador” by community members like Melvin Parson, per a Black Enterprise report on April 15 [] <sic>. Activists, including Alyshia Dyer of Washtenaw County, initially decried the shooting as excessive, citing Leeth’s community work. But the bodycam footage, showing his violent actions, has conservatives pushing back. “Activists claimed police brutality, but Leeth attacked a trooper and stole a cruiser–cops had no choice,” wrote @PatriotPulse. @America1stMAGA added, “This is why you don’t rush to judgment–video doesn’t lie!”

The incident, detailed in earlier reports from WPXI on April 9 [] <sic>, underscores the dangers troopers faced, with the Ohio officer sustaining minor injuries. For conservatives, the footage vindicates law enforcement and exposes what they see as a pattern of activist overreach. “Leeth’s past doesn’t excuse his actions–police did their job,” tweeted @JusticeForAll22. As the investigation continues, the bodycam release has shifted the narrative, proving to Trump supporters that the truth often defies the activist script.
