I’m taking off for part of the day to play with my wife so here’s a place to discuss whatever you want. Here’s some food for thought from our buddy Dave in Texas at Ace. I can hear the phonies salivating from here.

I hope you play nice! And if you must play naughty…be good at it! Enjoy!!
Jeez. What an opening. I just learned (I kid you not, in the words of Captain Queeg) that Joe Biden’s middle name is Robinette. If that’s not perfection, I don’t know what is.
It hurts when I pee … What should I do?
That is a GREAT charitable cause.
Lord know how many vets can bring credibility regarding current life situations in a role behind or in front of the camera.
Bravo.
@3…put the cigarette down before you unzip your fly.
@3 Master Chief, make an appointment with a good veterinarian, take a sample in a clean jar to him, and tell him your cat is having trouble peeing when he does the cheetah stud dance.
Veterinarians seem to be better able to diagnose problems accurately and quickly than most people doctors these days.
I’m just waiting for the local crows to come and tell me there’s a baby crow stuck in a hedge some place. I have to start putting peanuts out for them.
Part of the day ? Dude, you need to make that ALL day and get the job done right.
@3 You probably have the clap. Now it’s time for the hot rod up your Johnson and a penicillin shot that feels like a cork screw going in. Or as NHSparky said, butt int he toilet first then unzip.
@6 Thank you…just blew coffee on my screen!
Sparks, I am honored! 🙂
I do not like Notre Dame or the Dallas Cowboys. However, I have an affinity for gummy bears.
Have a great day with the wife and make all the time count! Monday is coming!
I hate asparagus, cauliflower, broccolli,(sounds like a lung disease) and brussels sprouts. I eat meat, potatos, lettuce, green beans, bananas, apples, most fruit and not much else. All is well with the world when bacon, bacon and more bacon are involved.
BACON!!!!! BACON FOREVER!!!! Bacon-topped mac and cheese. Pasta carbonara with crisp pancetta or bacon and onions, and a serious salad on the side, and breadsticks. And wine.
#3 – drink some beer, probably kidneystones:-)
#13 – what’s wrong with some good veggies:-)))Fat ribeye with some roasted brussels and parmesan, yam yam
#14 – carbonara rocks
So does homemade danish pancakes with ice cream:-))
Since this is an open thread it seems appropriate to post this nice story of a teacher using veterans to impart lessons to the younger generation.

Hey Sparks,
What you should start eating is some good ole Iowa Honey & Cream Sweet corn, with a fresh Deheaded chicken all fried up in what ever oil company you deal with, and topped off with some mashed pototes with brown gravy topped all over, and a couple of ears of sweet corn rolled over a bowl of butter till the butter runs off of your fingers, then we’ll go out and sit under my big Pin Oak tree and down a few cold bottles of Bud Lite’s, now if you can make it, We eat at 12:15 pm. sharp.
Sam
@17 Sounds GOOOOOD! I will try it. I do like corn. Gravy on everything makes the world go around.
@Heidi – If Danish pancakes are so good, I need the recipe for them.
I have a crepes pan that is ready for crepes with beef and mushrooms.
@Sparks, the cooks at America’s test kitchen recomnend sauteeing brussel sprouts to make them taste better. I don’t like them either, but that could work. I have to try it. And try soaking broccoli in water with a little salt in it, and then steam it in the microwave with a small amount of water for about a minute, then top it with shredded cheese on the plate.
Always liked Kid Rock, he is a shooter:

#19 Sure they are, but way different than us ones. I just need your e-mail one of these days and I’ll send you one. Or Jonn can forward yours to mine, if that works.
Will do. He’s out now. I’ll ask later.
I’m so glad fall is only a few weeks away. I am anticipating a lot of color this year with all the rain we’ve had, and the real possibility of early frost.
I wish television would come out with a new Star Trek series.
I do like Defiance, though.
T&A, Aliens and people solving crimes.
Three things inherent/required for a good movie/show.
Bah Defiance, good for the first few then boring. Sorry GT:-)
I wanna know whose bright idea was it to try and make Tom Cruise an action star?
@11 Aside from Gummy Bears, you forgot to mention your affinity describing phonies as various states of fecal matter. On a different note, this made me laugh today

How many of you can dance? I mean really, unashamedly in public, dance. How many of you like to? I can dance like John Travolta wished he could. Love to. When I am home alone I turn on the golden oldies from the sixties and some seventies and dance as I go around the house. Except, I learned, when carrying a cup of hot coffee! Yea, I ain’t ashamed to say it. I am secure enough in my masculinity to admit it. Anyone else? 😀
@25.
Yeah, I regress.
I also like Pacifico beer and Brunswick stew.
@24.
I thought Defiance was better than Falling Skies. You?
I also like to watch recorded episodes of Sanford and Son.
Yeah, I have all kinds of conflicting issues.
@26 It seems every time I go into the grocery market that Hall and Oats Maneater comes on the PA system. I have embarassed many a friend or my wife, when I break into the most retarted dance I can think of in the middle of the isle.
Ohh Ohh here she comes, watchout boy she’ll chew you up….
my dog is a pain in the ass!
Jonn, same people who tried to make Nick Cage an action star…
Falling Skies lost me at the end of the first season when our hero boarded the alien ship. WAY too early in the series for that plot device.
#26 Sparks, oh please I’m from Denmark we can dance. Haven’t seen Falling Skies. I’m more like an Iron man/Avengers person. Or weird danish movies.
#31 gave up on him after the couch hop, bat s… crazy
Nah give me walking dead, yeah
I play Battlefield 3 religiously.!
@30. Get back to Scrabble and take your beating.
Battlefield FOUR in a couple of months, bro!
@30.
Wait to you see Angela Lansbury in an action sequence…
Anybody remember “UFO”, the 1970-71 British series produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson? Now THAT was a great alien invasion TV series…
Okay, truth time for all you guys. How many of you watch a soap opera? I accept if you watch one with and/or for your wife.
UFO? Of course. And nothing can beat the campiness of ‘Space: 1999’. Bt what about “Combat”? And “Tour of Duty”? And why are none of you sick, twisted souls even remotely bringing up ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Burn Notice’?
You want soaps? ‘Dallas’ – the original – and ‘Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman’.
So there.
I go to the grocery store and come back and find that you’re all admitting secret sins. OK, here’s mine: “NCIS”, ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and ‘Houston Animal Cops’, and I don’t care who knows it. :PPPPP
Liked Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, because of Reverend Jimmy Joe Jeeter.
#40: Loved the Moonbase female ops crew in their purple wigs and silver form-hugging satin spandex-like uniforms; I was in nerd-boy heaven when I watched those Moonbase female ops officers in action back when the show first ran here in 1973…
Okay, my truth on the subject since I brought it up. When my wife was recovering from breast cancer (she is now a survivor, cancer free 10 years!) I told her I would do anything with her she wanted. Her request…watch The Young & Restless with her! I thought I would pass out. I still watch it everyday with her. I do not like it and never had but my word was my word. I sure wish they would go off the air. At least we could watch something else. I need brain and eye bleach after watching it and have a desire to puncture my eardrums.
@30: I will say Tom Cruise is a better Jack Reacher than I expected (no, I didn’t watch it by choice, it’s now in heavy rotation in one of the breakrooms). However, I expected that the travesty of Cruise playing Reacher would induce immediate uncontrolled projectile vomiting and explosive gas if I ever laid eyes on it, so ‘better than expected’ isn’t saying much.
@38, 40, 42. Even better than UFO and Space:1999 were Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet & The Mysterians, also by Gerry Anderson. His miniatures work on all those shows really laid the ground work for Star Wars and (practically) every Sci-Fi series/movie since.
What, no one else mentioned The Avengers or The Prisoner? OK, I will.
And MCPO: it if hurts when you pee and you didn’t just take a shower and get soap where it don’t belong – well, bud, it’s what you didn’t do that’s the problem. Remember this after you see the doc:
“Your dingy needs a thingy when yer sailin’ in unknown waters.”
Month Python’s Flying Circus.
HUGE fan of The Avengers. Though it may be sacrilege, I prefer Honor Harrington’s Cathy Gale to Dame Diana Rigg’s Emma Peel.
#45: Yup, watched the Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlett when I was a kid too; The female Angels fighter pilots were way before their time; no prettier female marionette fighter drivers anywhere else on TV then or now…
“The Avengers” and “The Man From Uncle”
Also “Sky King”.
