Harris County: Woman uses knife as self-defense during carjack attempt, officials say
By Briahn Hawkins
HUMBLE, TEXAS – A man has been arrested after he allegedly tried to carjack a woman in the Humble area. Officials say the woman defended herself with a knife.According to Precinct 4 Constable Mark Hermann, the incident happened on Monday at a gas station on Kenswick Drive.
A woman told officials that she was putting air in her tires when she saw the suspect, later identified as Shadrach Iyere, sitting in her driver’s seat. The woman asked the man to exit her vehicle, but he started to drive away.
Officials say the victim held onto the driver’s side handle of her vehicle as Iyere drove away and punched her in her face multiple times.
The vehicle eventually crashed into a brick wall.
The woman continued holding onto the handle, then she allegedly offered Iyere money to leave the vehicle. He reportedly handed the woman her purse, then she pulled out a knife to defend herself.
Officials say the suspect fled the scene on foot, but was detained by deputies.
Constable Mark Herman says Iyere has since been arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery. His bond was set at $20,000.

Trusting thugs in Houston and KHOU isn’t there. Thanks, Gun Bunny.
The saddest epitaph which can be carved in memory of a vanished liberty is that it was lost because its possessors failed to stretch forth a saving hand while yet there was time.

This deserves inclusion in the ever growing 3″ three ring binder of T2NB2AGF, even though (apparently) no guns were involved.
This time the knife was was used as a weapon of self defense. And semi successfully, at that. The perp isn’t dead (damn!), but no telling how many leaking holes he had from his “Close Encounters” with Ms Driver.
Speaking of……is Claw on the Form 6 roster? If not, he should be. We need a Whiz Wheel count on Shadrach Iyere.
Aaaaaand going to the link, and the booking pic, the melanin content was as I expected. My only disappointments are that the bail was (IMHO) set too low, and that the booking pic doesn’t show any puncture wounds.
So….never bring a carjacker to a knife wielding woman? Especially if she’s Latina, or Italian…
Thought you might like that little twist on things, Tox. Ms Thang did indeed “bring every weapon to bear” including a brick wall in her defense. It did help her out in that Ol’ Shad obliged her by giving her the purse with the knife in it. Also considered this one for a SPoTW Thread in that (a) Shad was stoopid to give the purse to her, (b) SHE was stoopid to leave her keys in the ignition to pump up her tire AND (c) to leave her weapon in her purse instead of close at hand. Just from what little we see here Houston is a cesspool of nefarious turds, the whole damn place needs a serious “roto-rootering” along with a big flush. I wouldn’t go there without a full re-enforced Rifle Platoon, including Arty Support, and overhead Air Cover. I think our very own Graybeard will back up that statement. Shad’s mama mighta pulled his name from a Biblical Reference but she missed teaching him some of the rules that was the first text, downloaded on a tablet, from The Cloud. Wonder if he’s got any brothers/friends named “Meshach” or “Abednego”?
I do have concerns that when my Grandchildren are my age, 50+ years from now, if they will ask my Headstone “Grand Papa…why didn’t you do more to secure our future liberty?”

Nice article on the Sig, but…full disclosure…what really caught my attention was the linky on the Henry Matched Pair Big Boy Revolver and Lever Action. Be still my beating heart. Pay no attention to the slobber on my screen.
“Henry Matched Pair Big Boy Revolver and Lever Action”
Nice idea, but in 22LR?
Please! At least try to make a “matched pair” in a decent caliber, like 45 Colt, or 38/357. When that happens, THEN I’ll start breaking open the piggy bank.
They DO make it in those calibers (38/357). The article was more about the “Limited Edition” (only 750 made) but the Henry site shows the Big Boy Revolvers with either a Bird’s Head or Shooters grip and multiple designs of rifles in 38/357…and multiple rifles of other calibers including .45 Colt. None in .45 ACP. There was a quantity of .38/.45 ACP/.45 LC seeds in inventory (until that tragic boat accident). Just looking at consolidating inventory to less calibers and more interchangability of boolitts. I’m a One Man Army looking at self defense purposes, not a hunter, and not looking at having to “take the fight to the enemy”. Tho…if need be…I will and can. Beware the man that just wants to be left alone…and won’t be…left alone.
Only .45 ACP revolver I’ve seen is the Charter Arms Pitbull. No moon clips required. It’s on my Christmas list.

I’ve looked at that one, Lil’ Bro and fired one a time or 2. My pard that has a local toy store could get me a good price on one but the short barrel and the Army Mule kick doesn’t give the consistent accuracy of a 4 inch barrel. I don’t have that problem(s) with the 1911 or Colt’s Peace Maker designs.
Charter makes an adjustable sight 4″ in an even better caliber, .44 Special.
And that mule kick is why I’m getting a 3.5″ 1911 next. MRS D’s is so nice to shoot that I’ve decided it’s my turn. I bet the muzzle blast from that Charter .45 would take the face off a bad guy before the bullet arrives.
Somebody taking your advice KoB.
Whiz Wheel®™ count on the “Tomorrow is my Birthday” perp:
Shadrach (NMN) Iyere (DAM) 30 x 4 = 120
Is an ever growing 3″ three ring binder of T2NB2AGF anything like “Binders full of women?”
Gas stations in Houston (or elsewhere) are not places to let one’s guard down.
I likes the P320. It puts the freedom seeds where I want them to be quite reliably. (And for all those nay-sayers out there, does not shoot all by it’s ownself.)
Furthermore, Sig offers a nice air-P320 that allows one to practice for a lot less dinero in one’s own backyard to maintain one’s skills.
I intentionally have the P320 and the air-P320 in different colors to mitigate confusion about which one is in my holster.
Full disclosure, I like the P220 even gooder, shooting-wise, but can’t afford the ammo and have to carry more mags to get close to a full mag of the P320.
Almost no place in the country is more than a 30 minute drive from a shitty neighborhood. Even in the country, locals know “yeah, not a good road to buy on, several meth-heads live there” roads.
After the Soros-bought DAs and (D)emon-rats politicians have had their hands on Harris County there are 500+ known murders running loose in Houston.
We had a mental case next to the GB Compound for a while. Kept us all in Condition Orange. But he was just one known danger, not 500 and change.
His landlord finally got shut of him.
I read that too fast. First look was “His landlord finally shot him”.
There was a real chance that one of those in the GB Compound might have had to. Fortunately the Sheriff & courts took his firearms when we supplied proof that he was shooting erratically past our houses. His mental issues were compounded by drugs; and his father was a known addict deadbeat.
The landlord is a card or two short in his deck, but we get along.
We have a road down here my wife calls “Friday the 13th Lane” (or maybe it’s something to do with Nightmare on Elm Street or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre… I should probably listen better). Anyway, for those who don’t know, I live in South Louisiana, just east of Cajun Country, so meth is no stranger to the parish or the region as a whole. This street, though, is something else. Turn onto it from either end and you’re met with decent looking properties probably owned by upper middle-class sorts. Less than a half mile later, you’re in a methopolis. Run down travel trailers and house trailers connected together with tarps, pallets, tire walls, and other makeshift fences/barriers. Overgrown “yards” looking like it’s a combination junkyard and permanent yard sale out front.
One trailer had a woodstove in it to use for heat, as most of those properties don’t have electricity. It burned down last year and killed a few of the occupants. Another family (might have been at one of the hybrid properties between the ‘burbs and the methopolis itself) raised a stink when they reported someone missing and deputies came out to investigate without finding anything, only for the guy to be discovered dead in the front yard a day or two later.
There are always two things to watch for on that road: rough looking people riding bikes, and dogs lying in the middle of the street. My wife says it’s like the dogs are trained to stop vehicles for the denizens to come abduct. The again, the connecting street down the road from me isn’t much better. I’ve noticed that much of the Deep South is like this: nice houses and neighborhoods with run-down trailers and obviously druggies living almost next door.
OW!! That weapon was posted and it went off and almost HIT ME!!
