Juvenile shot after allegedly breaking into car in Lawrence

by: Justin Powell
LAWRENCE, Ind. — An investigation is underway after a juvenile was injured in a shooting in Lawrence Sunday morning.

According to the Lawrence Police Department, just before 3:30 a.m., officers responded to the 5700 block of Chensford Drive on the report of a person shot.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a juvenile male with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Investigators reported that the suspected shooter was told by his girlfriend that someone was breaking into his car, which led to him shooting at the would-be car thieves. Authorities indicated that other juveniles ran from the scene after the shooting. Investigators are still working to determine everyone’s ages.

A public police report on the incident indicates that two suspects were implicated in the incident. The report describes one of the suspects as a 15-year-old male. The other suspect’s age is not listed in the report.

The shooter remained on scene and cooperated with detectives during their investigation, according to LPD.

Domestic Violence Led to Man Getting Shot, Says HCSO

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

HCSO Feature

On 4/18/2025, at about 1926 hrs., deputies assigned to the Garberville Station were dispatched to a motel in the 100 block of Surf Court, Shelter Cove, in regards to the report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim who reported being in a domestic violence incident with Russell Mack Bruner (age 50). Deputies learned that Bruner confronted the victim and at some point produced a firearm. Bruner allegedly brandished the firearm while making criminal threats at the victim. After a brief struggle, the firearm discharged and Bruner sustained non-life threatening injuries. After seeking medical treatment at a local hospital, Bruner was booked and housed in the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for charges of domestic battery, brandishing a firearm, and criminal threats.

I have a very strict gun control policy: if there’s a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

Oops. Wrong car.

Mr Bruner is not going to have a lot of street cred in prison when the other inmates learn that he was shot by his own gun, by a female.

The juveniles had to go to the school of hard knocks to learn that you can’t just go around breaking into folks cars.

Whether they will absorb the lesson or not is another question.

But one at least absorbed a chunk of lead.

But, but, but…,Graybeard…de wuz gud bois, turning their lives around, just needing a ride to Sunday Easter Son Rise Services so they could find Jesus. If the shooter would’ve had better “gun control” (ht2 CE) they would’ve…”met Jesus”. Very good chance we will see these lads on these pages again…eventually if not sooner.

Fight back, Ladies…Bring every weapon to bear…if you don’t have a weapon take your abuser’s weapon away and use it on them. Dirtbag may find himself the subject of abuse from the Boys in Cell Block D.

Ah yes, The .58 Caliber Rifled Enfield Musket. A very good example of how Technology changed The Art of War. Tho it is estimated that only about 5 out of 100 rounds sent down range during the WBTS hit their target, shooting into and hitting targets moving across an open field in close formation from 100s of yards away certainly took a toll. Still took “Big Army(s)” another “War to End All Wars” to figure that out. Reproduction Enfields, and Springfields, have gotten stupidly expensive these days, many of them being foreign (India, Paki, Japan) made only suitable for re-enactment purposes. North of $1200 USD. A fairly decent original can be had for less than that. The Euro Arms/Tower that I had until, that tragic boat accident, was a damn fine rifle, accurate as all hell, didn’t cost me but about $125 USD in the late ’70s. A .577 traveling at about 800 some odd FPS would ruin your day.

The US Enfield I carried all over the grinder in Boot Camp doesn’t look like the one on the top pic.
