Springfield Model 1903

In separate San Antonio shootings, victim shot 14-year-old vehicle burglar and another victim struck by falling firearm

Mathew Richards
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — San Antonio police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred over the weekend, leaving two individuals with non-life-threatening injuries.

In the first incident, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Saldana Street on March 30, 2025, at 12:59 a.m. for a report of criminal mischief, according to the San Antonio Police Department. Before officers arrived, a shooting was reported on the 800 block of Ripford Street, near Saldana Street. Police learned that a 14-year-old Hispanic male suspect, along with two other juveniles, attempted to break into a vehicle owned by a 53-year-old white male victim. The victim exited his home and fired his firearm, striking the suspect in the lower extremity. The suspects fled the scene, and the injured suspect later called the police. He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

In the second incident, officers responded to a shooting in progress on the 5700 block of Medina Farm on March 29, 2025, at 7:12 p.m. The victim, a 35-year-old Black male, was found with a gunshot wound to his lower extremity. He reported to officers that he accidentally discharged his firearm while handling it in his garage. The firearm fell, hit the ground, and discharged, striking him. Emergency medical services transported the victim to the hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Criminal mischief got an upgrade. Both of our heroes were shot in the “lower extremity.” I’ll bet that hurt a lot, whatever it may be.

Very dumb move by the victim, and he got shot for his trouble. There’s a lesson in here somewhere. Thanks again, Gun Bunny.

Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neanderthal

Just because you’re the Good Guy doesn’t make you bulletproof.

Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neanderthal

Shot in the lower extremity.
Hopefully lower enough so that they can no longer contribute to the gene pool pollution by making another generation.

“The firearm fell, hit the ground, and discharged, striking him.”

Yea, sure.

Was it an antique revolver? ‘Cause otherwise, I’m not buying it.

Not saying it’s impossible…just very unlikely…even if it was a P320.

Most likely he eschewed rules #2 and #3: “Don’t point it at anything you don’t want a hole in” and “keep your booger hook off the bang switch”.

The old “I dropped it and it went off” just sounded better in the police report I’d bet.

Either that or when he installed his “Glock switch/button” he took a little too much off the seer.

Several lessons to be learned here, all the way around. And the best learned lessons are the hard learned lessons. One has to wonder if these “lesson learners” learned any lessons. For some reason…I don’t think they did.

The Good Writer, Sam C, would probably recommend using corrupt grubermint officials as the rock at the end of the rope to “Mark Twain”.

Nice example showcasing one of Teddy’s “Big Sticks”. But it doesn’t “Speak Softly”. heh heh In Sharra’s Book “To The Last Man”, a novel of WWI, one of The Marine’s made the comment “…Thank God for The Springfield…”

Got to admit, I love the 1903 Springfield.

14-year-old will either
(a) get an adz-whuppin’ at home and have a good chance to change his choices
– or –
(b) get a “poor baby” coddling at home and have a good chance of ending up wearing TDCJ-ID white for a long time.

The “fell to the ground and discharged” line is BS. Even the improved P320 doesn’t do that – as Sig has showed time and again. The old P320 only rarely – and those have been repaired.

Following the perps after having chased them off is a good way of getting yourself shot or otherwise injured. Dumb move there.
