Law enforcement sources have also revealed that Livelsberger previously served at the same military base as New Orleans terrorist Shamsud Din Jabbar, who drove a truck into a crowd killing many people.
Livelsberger has served in the Army for 19 years, the majority of which was spent in the Special Forces unit.

If he was in the Army for 19 years, it means he was one year away from retirement. The Daily Mail out of the UK suggests that he harbored some anti-Trump sentiment, along with his wife.

According to the briefing by the Las Vegas Sheriff (Chief?), the Sgt. was active duty stationed in Germany with the 10th SFG(A). Since I am a veteran of the 10th SFG(A), I can say that he was likely assigned to the 10th’s 1st Battalion in Germany. The 2nd, 3rd Battalions and Group HQ are garrisoned at Ft. Carson, CO. I suspect Livelsberger was home on X-mas leave. According to the Sheriff, the Sgt. was having a beef with wifey over someone’s infidelity. As someone else here observed, it is a good thing he was not a team demo sgt., or the whole front of the hotel would have been taken out. Apparently, he was a commo sgt. that was promoted to an ODA operations and intel position. Personally, I think the cheese slipped off of his cracker.
The fact he and the Muslime were both stationed at Ft. Bragg at the same time is meaningless. It is unlikely their paths would ever have crossed, as Jabbar was a leg and Livelsberger was SF airborne. It appears that Livelsberger spent most of his career in the 10th Group, as his language specialty was French. Moreover, since 2015, Jabbar was solely in the Army Reserve.

He was a fully qualified 18 series active duty Special Forces NCO. He was originally a commo sgt. But he was promoted and cross trained as an operations/intel NCO. He was either an SFC or MSG. He may have worked in an SF company or battalion staff position rather than on an ODA.
