A Georgia man pretended to be a homeless Vietnam veteran whose wife had died from Covid and a rescue organization helped raise money for him.

Police say North GA man charged with receiving money from stolen valor
29 AUG 2024 | Story by Rob Jones

Police in North Georgia says a man is facing charges after fraudulently obtaining donations from a non-profit. The Lavonia Police Department says Michael Walker had informed the Hart County Animal Rescue that he was a homeless Vietnam veteran.

He also told them he had been sleeping on a bench in a parking lot for the last year and that his wife had died from Covid. Police say the rescue then started fundraising efforts.

A TV news story about Walker then led to thousands of dollars being raised. Police say Walker eventually admitted that he was lying about being a veteran. His wife also is apparently still living.

Walker was arrested and is charged with theft by deception and obstructing law enforcement.

I wonder if his wife knew what he was doing?

His code name was Agent Orange– apologies to Eddie Murphy.

The parking lot bench…shit. I’m only on a parking lot bench.
Every time, I think I’m gonna wake up back in the jungle.

When I was home after my first imaginary tour, it was worse.
I’d wake up, and there’d be nothing but pigeons.
I hardly said a word to my wife until I said yes to a fake case of Covid.
When I was here, I wanted to be there.
When I was there…all I could think of was getting back into the jungle.
I’m here a week now. Waiting for a mission.
Getting softer. Every minute I stay on this bench, I get weaker.
And every minute Charlie squats in the bush…he gets stronger.
Each time I looked around…the pigeons moved in a little tighter.
I had no bread to give them. They grew impatient.

So now the law benched him from keeping up his misdeeds and most likely he will be a slow walker on his way to jail….

With the fake Viet Nam vets getting older and some dying off I guess the fake Beirut vets are going to have to pick up the slack.

Google is forever
I have a feeling we’ll be hearing from him again
This isn’t his first ride on the phony pony

Tallywhagger

Was he pretending you be a poor lost mutt and nobody loved him. Needle in the paw, worthless runt.

Odie

Sounds like he may soon have a place to lay his head, won’t have to worry about food nor friends. It will be a structured life, just like the military. Someone will tell him when to get up. Go to bed. Eat. Bathroom breaks.

Jimbojszz

He will have a nice set of new clothes to wear. Maybe a nice set of bracelets to wear while collecting trash along the highway to pass the time.

Odie

I forgot about the clothing and jewelry allowance. The recreational activities too.

Making new friends! Mr Congeniality, meet Bubba!

He’ll always know what time it is.

His cellmate will say often, “It’s time. It’s time.”

Odie

Assume the position.

He’ll always know what time it is, because he can listen to the late Eugene Pitt and the Jive Five singing “What Time Is It” 1962 on the Beltone/Relic label. during rec time.

More juicy details here.
None of it is good.
Includes statements by some of those duped,
the folks who never think to check or verify.

How hard is it to verify that a dead wife has no obituary or death record,
and is in fact a living EX wife?

And we know the history of folks who don’t ask for any proof of military service.

Phil Monkress: I’m shocked! Shocked to find that stolen valor is going on here.

Hack Stone

It’s about 520 miles from Lavonia Georgia to Merritt Island Florida. Will All Points Logistics provide he a relocation fee?

For a minute there I thought Shane Ladner was at it again.
Talk about reaching into the Way Back Machine.

2017 news story.
Lots to see here.

That shitbird still refused to admit his fraud and stolen valor, despite his commanding general testifying his MP unit was never in combat in Honduras, period. No combat op—no war wound, no Purple Heart.

His fraud did put him on that trailer hit by the train, causing his wife to lose a leg. Maybe he should give her a wound award.

26Limabeans

You can tell by the look on his face his actions are frowned upon.

A Proud Infidel®™

I hope Bubba & Thor straighten his ass out while he’s in lockup, another asswipe POS shitbird!!!

We have finally found Phil Monkress’ older brother!

All-Points Logistics material indeed!

The Phildoesque qualities of this clown are just oozing out of the screen.
