Donald Trump joins family members of 13 US service members in wreath laying ceremony

| August 27, 2024 | 32 Comments

Donald Trump, and family members of the 13 U.S. service members killed at Abbey Gate during the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, participated in a wreath laying ceremony. The 13 service members were killed as a result of an ISIS attack against those evacuating Afghanistan. Physically absent from the ceremony were Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Both Biden and Harris did leave statements regarding the three-year anniversary of this attack.

From The Hill:

Trump was joined by family members of some of the 13 U.S. service members who were killed in a bombing at Abbey Gate during the withdrawal for a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The former president descended the steps alongside family members to lay a wreath, listened to taps, then returned to the top of the steps and repeated the process twice more for others being honored Monday.

Trump and his campaign have repeatedly attacked President Biden over the Afghanistan withdrawal, referring to it as the most “embarrassing moment” in the nation’s history. Trump and his allies have continued those attacks since Harris replaced Biden atop the Democratic ticket, pointing to Harris’s own comments that she was the last person in the room with Biden as he finalized his decision on the withdrawal.

“This is the third anniversary of the BOTCHED Afghanistan withdrawal, the most EMBARRASSING moment in the history of our Country,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Gross Incompetence — 13 DEAD American soldiers, hundreds of people wounded and dead, AMERICANS and BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF MILITARY EQUIPMENT LEFT BEHIND.”

Joe was at beach and Camela was at the bar, so they sent a spokeswoman to release a statement…

Only fitting that President Trump should be there. After all, the botched withdrawal was his fault…just like everything else that has gone wrong over the last 3 years. Not to worry…once Kum-Hella is installed as Ma-Damn (p) Resident she will fix all of the problems that The Bad Orange Man has caused.

Is the sarc tag needed?

President Elect Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neande

Well, I’m glad that you did put in the (/s) tag.
Otherwise, I thought you might have gotten a New Plandemic Scamdemic Glo-bull Viral Brain Fever and gone Komrade Kommissar on us.

You already got snakes on social media blasting Trump for posing with them at the grave of one of the fallen giving a thumbs up and referring to him as a draft dodger.

Funny how lefties were proud of dodging the draft and running away like cowards, yet 50 years later service in the very war they avoided is somehow the mark of a worthy candidate?

Fucking tools.

Is that similar to the metaphor “people who live in glass houses should not throw stones”?

50 yrs hell, they loved Clintoon for it..

Ask ’em about Joe Biden’s five, effectively identical, exemptions. Their best response is “oh, but he isn’t running now”.

David

but yes, the pose with the smile and the thumbs-up…ferChrissakes, Donald, it’s a solemn occasion, act like it.

Fyrfighter

True, but the family member was giving the “rock on” sign too, so going with the moment / crowd?

One of the left’s biggest heroes is “Blowjob Willie” Clinton who once wrote a letter excoriating Military Service while he was attending college in Great Britain on a scholarship, a 24K draft dodger!

It is my understanding that no one from the DOD attended.

You are correct. Very surprised that there was no one from 8th & I….

After Milley’s “political” temper trantrum over having to be an adult cabinet member with Trump (as POTUS) condemning folk who set fire to a church, nobody went now.

Off topic, but the fan belt inspectors have finally released the photos of Crooks’ rifle. I find it notable that it has an Aimpoint optical sight with no magnification, and broken down, the upper would not have fit fully inside his backpack.

You’re out of order, Counselor. Your notation is competent, relevant, and points out facts in evidence. I hereby find you in contempt of the eff bee eye and fine you to take a jug of these top shelf beverages and consume it with a jury of your peers.

I know this is beating a dead horse, but here it is speaking of from the horses mouth so fuck everybody else and when the family members tell you exactly what happened that’s exactly what happened.

And other families, like that of MSgt Marckesano, weren’t happy because photos of his grave are in the ones released by the Trump team, though they weren’t supposed to be taken in that area, and didn’t have their permission.

It’s also like these things are maybe not black and white.

Had Trump gone to Arlington, supporting the families of those killed in the Afghanistan withdrawal, and not turned it into a political photo-op with ridiculous thumbs-up photos in front of graves, well, that’d have been noble. But the full story is a tad less so, in my opinion.

Arlington should not be used for political points, period. I thought that rule was inviolate, but apparently not.
