Scotty sends us his work on this lowlife POS, Steven Styblo, in Phoenix. Styblo got into the VFW with these phony documents;
Yeah, POW, like that’s not hard to check. Actually, our buddy, Mike McGrath, you know, a real Vietnam POW and President of NAM-POWs says that he’s FOS, too. Now, Styblo is running for Post Commander at the local VFW. They might be a little surprised by his actual records;
Yeah, not only did he NOT serve during the Vietnam War, he didn’t even make it out of the recruiting center. Never went to Basic Training. His only service (if you can call it that) was in the Delayed Entry Program. He was never even issued his uniforms. He probably raised his hand and promised to serve, but then never did. But who needs to serve when you can just make shit up, put lies on a piece of paper and everyone believes you?

In 1980, I enlisted in the Guard to be a 51B Carpentry/masonry Specialist. In 2004 I retired as a 15B Aviator.
The intervening 24 years, 3 months, and 11days were the best (and worst) of times. As I have told many, the Army will give you opportunities you never expect.
My first “Rodeo” was just another 3-year hitch, I came back in in 2003 and have done two more overseas tours as well as two more MOS’es, who says the Army ain’t full of fun?

I agree the claims are so egregious I am surprised the VFW didn’t do a little research before letting him hang out as a poster boy. POW is just too easy to verify. Should be a no brainer.

The VFW has a screening process? I’m a life member and I’ve never been asked for any documentation of service. That’s why we have poser douchebags like this in the VFW.
I gave them my original 214 to copy and signed an SF-180 so they could pull my records.

Biermann I searched the VFW national site and could not find a Post 15003. I blew up the photo and his shirt name tag says Post 3715, which is is Phoenix.
15003 does seem a bit odd for a post #. It’s supposedly a Member-At-Large post in Scottsdale Az

One of the pilots in my unit was Rocking the Special Forces combat patch (Vietnam), master aviator wings, CIB, master blaster wings, etc., also.
I especially like the Special Forces Award Ribbon w/ 3 bronze stars (Green Beret). The guy was just pulling sh!t out of thin air.

He is no longer a member of Post 3715. Ricky has informed state. Call National on why they issued him a card. He was a transfer into 3715 so people assumed he was good until the Post Adjudant got suspicious and requested his paperwork. The bar manager of the Post was probably not aware he was dropped from the rolls. Phone bombing the post will not help. We were the individuals that sent the info to SF Poser Patrol. I am retired NCO from 10th SFG and called him out after the post meeting and my buddy confiscated his ID card. We just don’t want him trying it anywhere else. Feel free to phone bomb National or State.

If you did a tour in Korea, you qualify. I think they might even allow those that served during OIF/OEF/OND time period. Not 100% sure though.

Hmmm. Guess I did it wrong. I enlisted as an E-1 and then went on to attend the Fort Polk School for Wayward Boys. That’s where I earned my Combat Floor Buffer Badge.
MAJMike…oh the memories. Floor buffing. Buffing in the Johnson’s paste wax, way back in my day, waiting for it to dry, then a piece of old horse blanket under the buffer brush for that “see yourself to shave, shine” on the floor. Good times, good memories. I didn’t realize it at the time but even floor stripping, waxing and buffing, had a purpose. It taught us team work, adherence to standards, a sense of pride in a job well done and…a later life skill you can always fall back on in hard times.

Vfw needs to reverse their membership procedures requiring a foia confirmation of submitted dd214 from applicants. That would be a much better use of funds instead of producing a shitty magazine for members like they currently do. I’m getting tired of reading about these shitfuck posers having been so successful in this organization.
Too bad integrity has died off for our society as a whole that this needs to be done. I know nobody who has served thinks we need mandatory service… but we need something to straighten kids out who come from these namby pamby liberal indoctrination camps called schools and beat some integrity and honor into them. The VFW has fallen from grace. They got involved in politics. All too often it is about money and membership so it is no wonder this asshole made it in. They supported Blumenthal in CT- fake war vet now a US senator.
The same goes for anyone I see wearing “XX VETERAN” ball caps, shirts, etc. I used to respect them, but anymore i just want to say “FXXX YOU, PROVE IT!!” to the wearers. They say that nowadays there are at least five posers out there for every real Vietnam Vet, and we’re seeing plenty of bogus ME Vets as well. Last month, I walked out of a Walgreen’s store to see a car with a Ranger ball cap on the dashboard with a BSM stuck to it. I had no urge to see who came out to that car, because I had just finished a ballbuster of a day at work, and I was afraid of losing my cool and ending up in jail!
What really soured me a lot on the VFW was their VFW-PAC and who they endorsed, often over the howling objections of the rank-and-file membership (case in point, endorsing Carol Shea-Porter over Jeb Bradley.)
From what I saw, most of that PAC were a bunch of liberal hacks who endorsed whoever toed THEIR line, not necessarily who was a better supporter of veteran’s issues.
And I thought they were supposed to get rid of them, but I have no idea if they ever did or not. Any word on that?

This really, really irritates me.
I’m a life member of the VFW. Not only did I show my DD-214, but my letter from the VA giving me 100% service connected disability as well. My original VFW (as well as both that I subsequently transferred to when moving) made copies of all of it and verified that my documentation was true and correct BEFORE accepting and voting me in.
Seriously, even after I had my Life Member card from my first VFW (in Virginia) both of the Ohio VFWs I transferred too checked every piece of my documentation thoroughly. I don’t understand why the hell this didn’t happen when this PoS transferred.
And actually, my American Legion posts all did the same thing when I signed up and subsequently transferred when moving.

So, what is the standard tour as a POW? Was it a one year individual tour, or did his entire command do a Unit Deployment of six months, then rotated back to the states when they next command UDP’ed to relieve them?
