Someone shared their work on this Tobin Lee McGuffin. He also goes by Cody McGuffin, Cody Lee McGuffin, Lee Cody McGuffin, Arthur Lee Grey, Tobin Cody McGuffin, Lee McGuffin, and Lee Grey. I’m sure there are more names, but those are all I know about. He’s in Wisconsin for the time being, but he’s been living in Wyoming, Montana, North and South Carolina, Alabama and Virginia. It’s as if he is on the run, isn’t it?
As you can tell from his little cap, he claims to have been a Navy SEAL. Of course, if you ask to see his records, he’ll tell you they’re classified, but not so classified that he can’t wear that cap. Do real SEALs ever wear that fugly cap?
He was in the Navy, for eighteen months 1978-1979, as a machinist mate aboard the submarine USS Francis Scott Key while it was stationed at Rota Spain. He went up and down the rate scale until he bumped up against a summary court martial and found himself out on the street.
No SEAL training or assignments. He does have a bunch of war stories about things that never happened.

I do not think so. I could be wrong. When I first struck out on my own, I did not know my social security number. In order to get a job, I went to the social security office, and requested mine. This was in the early seventies, and I did tell them I had been issued one already. The clerk told me that I will get a new one. A couple months later, I got hold of my original and started using it. I forgot all about the second one that was issued to me, until I got one of those letters detailing what I had paid in over the years etc.. At the bottomof the letter was a statement that read social security number NNN-NN-NNN has also been recordedunder your name blah, blah blah,..” They know about it, and have not offered to bring charges against me. Of course, now that I have made this post I am expecting the Social Security SRT to come fastroping into my house guns blazing.

How the hell do you get Captain’s Mast and then 6 days later get Court Martialed? On the way out the door from mast fire up a doobie? This guy is special in a special feces kinda way.
RM3; I don’t feel too bad now about this. I went to Capt’s mast on a deriliction of duty charge because I didn’t check the low pressure air compressor down in the boiler room while on cold iron watch while in dry dock in the Philly yards. It wasn’t logged in the log book as running so I did not check it and it ran out of oil. Navy equipment always seem to leak so that’s why there are those 2 inch high flat iron around the machinery. A- Gang is auxilliary so we maintained everything from the ships horn down to the reefer flats. Turns out that I got a suspended bust and was asked to re enlist some time before I got out. Did a couple of years in Inactive Reserve after my 3 year Kiddie Cruise in 1966. Ship went over to San Diego and Viet Nam in 1967. In those days, US Navy ships were held together with Permatex adhesive. I’m sure you 1950’s greaser’s remember Permatex in a tube.
It could be the CO recommended Courts Martial at Mast.

I remember that Fox had a show that fortunately had a short run called “Enlisted”. Supposed to be a comedy. My wife ribbed me about that show. I told her that if I had charge of “soldiers” like the ones on the show, she’d be visiting me in Leavenworth.
What’s really needed is for Netflix to make a documentary based on maybe the most realistic, no-punches-pulled book on the Teams out there; ‘When the Bullet Hits Your Funny Bone’ by Chief Allmon (see links below).
It would be ‘rated R’ bordering on ‘rated X’ depending on the story being told.
It would be sad/brutal/funny/shocking, some tales being all of the above at the same time.
Even better, Chief Allmon could certainly use the financial help. He’s a legend in the Teams and facing serious financial and medical/health issues.

I was browsing the WISH app on my phone last night to see what kind of cheap Chinese shit I could buy on a whim.

She wrote, “It is for this reason that we feel this page must be removed…” She explained that she is a volunteer for a Vet fishing charity which was established by Cody McGuffin, a/k/a a/k/a Cody Lee McGuffin, a/k/a Lee Cody McGuffin, a/k/a Arthur Lee Grey, a/k/a Tobin Cody McGuffin, a/k/a Lee McGuffin. The connection between between SV and other bad acts being well established, I asked her for a few simple things, including the registered name of the charity and in what state or states it is registered. I also asked her for the officers names. These questions were not even met with “on advice of my attorney….” but were ignored. That raises bright red flags of suspicion and prompts me to wonder about the legitimacy of the charity for which the founder, Mr. Alias, solicited donations. That’s my recap and the record. I’ll keep waiting for her response.

I am perplexed and mystified that Kayla has not responded. I don’t like feeling that way so I decided to check on Veterans Fishing Foundation. I found an article from Hawaii that features Mr Alias. It seems a nice doctor donated a boat to the VFF but–and you’re not going to believe this–the state of Hawaii has no charity by the name Veterans Fishing Foundation. At least, when I checked, it came up with an alert saying that there is no charity by that name. This makes me wonder who, exactly, has title to the vessel and whether someone was snookered. The article also mentions St Petersburg, FL so I checked that state’s records. No VVF. I don’t get it. Golly. Could it be? From the article, the link to which is below: “VFF and the captain and crew of The Ku‘uipo at Ku‘uipo Sport Fishing will provide at no cost trophy fishing charters for veterans Monday through Friday, Feb. 5 through 16, 2018. Thanks for the email address, Kayla, but I won’t be using it. This isn’t a personal issue, this Veterans Fishing Foundation charity business. My interest is in doing what I can to ensure that a charity that claims to exist to benefit Veterans and solicits donations toward that end is a legitimate charity that does what it says. I find it rather coincidental that the same day I post the link to the article regarding the donated boat is the day that you finally comment again here. I have no doubt that you were taking a look-see and hoping that this would just blow away. It won’t. The can of worms is opened and the little buggers are crawling around. If I were you, I would first contact the doctor who donated the boat and come clean with him. I would then set about establishing a registered charity, in accordance with Hawaii law, as well as Federal law, if the charity is a nonprofit 501(c)(3). But, hey, that’s what I would do. In the meantime, I expect, other people will be asking you and yours more questions more formally.
2/17 Air Cav, This is Destin a former volunteer with VFF. just so you know Kayla Dylan and myself posted on the VFF Facebook wall to inform the followers of the vff that the founder one Tobin McGuffin was a fraud and we were shutting down the Facebook page. We never wanted the TAH article removes. We have been in contact with TAH as well as the Attorney General’s office in Wyoming where the charity was founded. I was the one that initially looked into Tobin McGuffin claims and requested verification that he was or wasn’t Navy SEAL from Don Shipley and SOCNET. The initial request to SOCNET was on 6th February and to mr. Shipley very shortly after that. We submitted the information that we have to TAH before this was published and have been in contact with the Wyoming Attorney General and FBI throughout this because like you we don’t want to see veterans or donors or anyone for that matter get ripped off. The doctors boat is safe it has not been transferred and he is aware that Tobin McGuffin is a con man. Kayla Dylan and myself would be happy to share all of the information that we have to include all of the email and text message traffic showing when we discovered that Tobin McGuffin was a fraud and when it was reported so that you have a complete picture of what occurred. I can very much appreciate your desire to see that this is not allowed to happen and it is for that reason that I would like to share everything. When it’s al legit and up and running legally and all details will be shared as far as our new foundation moving forward, the new pages will be up you can see any info you’d like to see I want to distance ourselves and “our” mission as far away from Cody as possible but as you know these things take time… no boats by us have been fished since and will not be fished without all the proper and legal protection… give us a chance it doesn’t happen over night unless it’s for pure profit and going into someone’s pocket! I get that you want to establish a legal and legitimate charity, to separate yourself from Mr. Alias, and to start anew. In my view, that’s not nearly enough. There was a charity with which you were closely associated and that charity solicited donations. According to a news article, the charity accepted a boat from a donor. If that charity was not registered and the donations it received were going into the pocket, so to speak, of individuals running that charity, well, that’s fraud and that’s a crime. I suggest that you contact the appropriate authorities and lay out all that you know about the charity you say was established by Mr. Alias. I also suggest again that you contact the boat donor and tell him what’s going on. Title to that boat is in someone’s name. If your hands are clean regarding the VFF, you will have no reservations about doing this. If they’re not, well, it’s just a matter of time. This isn’t some old movie in which a group of youngsters say, “Come on, gang. Let’s put on a show!” This is the real world and charities have legal constraints and obligations that must be honored. If you need to know what authorities to contact to provide a complete account of your unregistered charity, just ask.

Kayla. There are many people here, starting with Jonn Lilyea, whose individual and aggregate knowledge I find incredible. If you visit here often enough, you will be astounded. Most of us are Veterans but not all. Those who are not are beloved Gold Star Moms, firefighters, you name it. I do believe that you are sincere about straightening matters out regarding VFF. I wish you well in that, and I hope that you will first clean the slate with the boat donor and others who may have been taken in by Mr. Alias. Updates here will be welcome.

The things that you have suggested have been done the Wyoming Attorney General as well as the FBI where contacted immediately after this being published on the TAH blog. The boat donor was made aware of what’s going on the day I confirmed that AKA McMuffin was not a Navy SEAL and that there would be blowback from his claims that would negatively impact this Foundation and the doctor’s lawyer is digging into the foundation paperwork to determine if there is any legitimacy to the foundation. The boat is safely stored still in the doctors name and no transfer paperwork has been completed and will not be done until it is determined that the foundation is legit which at this point we all highly doubt, as this is not the first time low speed high drag Cody McMuffin has attempted to form a 501 c 3. What really bothers Kayla Dylan and myself is that we are not stupid people we searched for information about this guy and couldn’t turn up anything that would make us question his intentions although it was only a cursory internet search. Lesson learned there conduct a full background check prior to getting involved in any business dealings with someone you have only known for a short period of time. at this point we are at somewhat of a standstill as to which direction to go now. As I said the Wyoming attorney general and FBI have been made aware, the donors lawyer will be requesting information from the foundation or the IRS as to the status of the charity.
