Raymond Schepansky, phony SF Major teacher
UPDATE ON THIS PHONY and his gun charges; Our newest buddy, Peg McNichols of the Canton Patch reports that 2 of the 3 gun charges against Schepansky were dropped this afternoon, but he will appear on the third charge of carrying a concealed weapon in the Wayne County Circuit Court.
Meet Raymond Schepansky, a military history teacher in Michigan, near Detroit. He was arrested last month for bringing a 9mm handgun and two magazines of ammunition to work at Plymouth-Canton Community Schools under the seat of his Kia. In the initial article that I read, he claimed to be a Special Forces Major and a retired Ranger, unfortunately, that article has disappeared. I did however save this screen shot of his LinkedIn profile in which he claims to be an SF major on active duty;
You can also hear the police testify to Schepansky’s reference to his “Special ops” training at about 1:10 into this video;
Plymouth-Canton Teacher Had Handgun, Ammo in Car: MyFoxDETROIT.com
Well, that’s not true. According to records (which erroneously call him a Specialist First Class when they mean to list his rank as Sergeant First Class) he was a Red Leg fire support coordinator from 1976 – 1992;
And his FOIA report;
I’m guessing he was a Sergeant First Class because he attended the Advanced NCO Course in 1987 – but he certainly isn’t a Major, he’s not on active duty, and there’s nothing in his records to indicate he was ever anywhere near Camp Mackall. And there’s no record of him in Army Knowledge Online which twigged me to him in the first place;
Currently serving members of the Regular Army, National Guard and Reserves are required to have an AKO account.
By reading the article, you can tell he probably scared school officials with his “crazy combat vet” demeanor and I want to disabuse the world of any act he might put on while hiding behind his “SF Major” facade. I may email this to the prosecutor on Monday morning.
Actually what made me suspicious of him was the Kia – no SF Major would ever be caught dead in a Kia.
I’m pretty sure that someone sent me the initial link to the article, but I can’t remember who. Sorry. But thanks to Mary at POW Network for finding these records for us.
This weapons case trial is on-going as late as yesterday.

Hmm…. why would a SFC with 18 years in get out of the Army??? That doesn’t make much sense; unless of course it was not by choice.
1992 was during the drawdown, and I know a lot of guys who took early outs/early retirements, depending on their specialties (nukes need not apply.)
“I may email this to the prosecutor on Monday morning.” Do it, Jonn. As evidenced by some of the posts here, prosecutors and LEO’s sometimes have no clue as what these phonies do, and about things like AKO.
At least, he and his lawyer won’t be able to hide behind some fantasy that PTSD from his numerous missions behind the lines made him “snap”.
Awww mannnnn… he was in the Balls of the Eagle, my first unit.
Three options on his getting out:
VSI/SSB.
Offered a sunset tour to Korea and turned it down (automatic ETS with zero retirement and bennies, cuz the Army loves its senior NCOs so much). (my vote)
JAG-inspired chapter.
Perhaps, but I don’t think it was Korea as Hawaii is an OCONUS assignment. Couldn’t see him taking the early retirement unless it was in lieu of QMP.
A lot of Senior NCOs got early retirement in those early Clinton years.
Dang, he made SFC? That isn’t anything to sneeze at, at least I don’t think so, but lie about being SF and a Major? What a bozo.
LTC(Ret)Brad Taylor should have a word with him, or any of a half dozen of the RI’s at Camp James E. Rudder.
I can’t imagine wanting to be a MAJ when you are a SFC. The paycheck isn’t worth the lobotomy.
For what it’s worth, I’ve contacted the Wayne County prosecutor’s office about this guy and his lies. They, of course, told me that they needed to develop their own evidence against him, but at least they’re aware in the event he tries to use his crazy Green Beret act at the sentencing.
And Welcome to all of the people on the Wayne RESA network, Shepanski’s school district, who’ve visited in the last several hours.
Dear Jonn & others,
Perhaps I am wrong here, no offense intended, I am trying to formulate an opinion and I would like to know when did Mr. Schepansky personally tell you that he was currently doing whay you claim he is? Also, it seems your qualitative research shows a Linkedin account. I am sure someone with your impressive qualifications didn’t rely wholy on a LinkedIn account that just about anyone could have made up. Please also note on his LinkedIn account page you show, he has Zero, connections. An individual that claims to be something they are not usually is doing it because people believe it to be truth, hence he would have connections. Where he would boast stories, photos and other fake things to prove Also, in light of all of the press he’s gotten recently wouldnt he have taken the page down?
I thank you in advance for your time and response. Thanks
Suri, like I wrote in the post, Schepansky told the police about his special operations experience. And as I also wrote, the initial article which has mysteriously disappeared, along with the Major’s uniform he had in his classroom with all of the appurtenances attached, that, if you were one of his students, you’ve already seen.
I’ve read the “Free Schepansky” Facebook pages well enough to know that he blew smoke up the skirts of his students and they all fell for his fairy tales – as students do. I don’t blame them, I blame him.

Major Skee?
Some of you other ‘old timers’ may recall- back before the up=n=out rules of promotions, there WAS a ‘specialist first class’ IIRC. You could be up to an E-7 in the specialist ranks. I know the Specialist rank had ‘bars’ that would go ABOVE the rank as you were promoted. It was kinda like being a junior Warrant; you were a ‘specialist’ (pun intended) in that career field; but you were not expected to lead troops in any way- that was left to the NCOs. When I was enlisted in the ADA, we had 2 SPC-6 (Specialist 6) that had to either go to PLDC-type courses and get ‘hard stripes’ or get out. These were the last vestiges of the Vietnam era-troops left in the unit…
I thought this blurb was intreesting:
“RAYMOND SCHEPANSKY, P-CEP Military History Teacher and retired Army Ranger, returns to the Vietnam Perspectives podium to explore parallels …”

@Suri… Lilyea is just jealous of somebody who has had a more distinguished Army career than him. Typical behavior for him I wouldn’t listen
Oh Obumbler girl you so do NOT wanna begin to even make that assumption of anyone here. Major F#ckski is no more an SF Officer then I am a 3 Star General.
Lilyea being jealous of anyone with a career more distinguished than his is laughable coming from a moronic f#cktard such as yourself who most likely has no clue what you are even talking about. Go stand up in defense of your poser pal the teacher who f#cked up and got caught at it.
@Mister Wolf…..I recall the rank of SPEC/6 (I had 2 in my Basic Training Unit as Cooks)and was told they used to have a SPEC/7 but I never heard it called Specialist First Class. It was always Specialist 4,5,6 or 7 or SPEC if you will.

There has been a new development in this case. Mr. Schepansy (pun intended) has submitted 2000 applications to the Canton Board of Ed. Included with them is what appears to be a falsified letter thatcomes from a base that closed prior to the letter and by an individual that does not apear to exist. Here is a link to the Canton Patch news story with photos of the letter. I would like to give specific information regarding the letter and the person who wrote it to the Canton Board of Ed and Canton Police. I would also like to inform the Canton Board of Ed how they can request a full DD214 from Mr. Schepansky that will indicate the actual reasons for his discharge. The Canton Board of Ed needs to understand how the DD214 can give them all of necessary information for him and future applicants so they don’t get the wool pulled over their eyes again. WHo can help me research the letter and provide details of the contents of a DD214 and how it should be part of a required background check on all applicants?

Didnt you know that the KIA is the secret squirrel infiltration vehicles of the SF? I thought you all knew that…
ObamaGirl – I don’t think that Jonn is particularly concerned about soldiers who have a more distinguished career than his, but is concerned with soldiers who lie about having a more distinguished career than his. You can keep that in mind when the soldier who has the faked 300 APFT and expert weapons qual and got his ARCOM because he is buddies with the S1 blows past you for promotion because of points. We’ll just assume that your justified anger is jealousy of his distinguished career.
What turns an honorable man who served into this weasel?
Re “Commissioning Memo” – it is obviously a fake. Just on first glance, here are the problems that I see: all above “Subject” is not correctly formatted; “Attention to Orders” would not be on the subject line; spacing after “subject” incorrect, memo paragraphs are bullets with 1., 2., etc., not indented; date line would not have a comma after the month; officer MOSs (13A4px31 in this case) do not include anything beyond the branch code (13A), because all after identify enlisted skill levels and ASIs; 13A is a field artillery officer, not an SF officer (18A); if he were commissioned effective 30 Jun 1993, he would be YG 93, not 94; no one would ever put the phrase “Command Headquarters, G-1” in anything; report times and dates are in orders, not memos, he would have to have orders to report for pay purposes; there is no such thing as an “allegiance ceremony”; there is nothing called “special instructions” in a memo; orders to a school are in orders, not memos; the Command and General Staff College is CGSC, not C & GS; majors attend CGSC, captains attended CAS3; given the TDY and not PCS “order” the assumption is that the “C&GC Course 00-3” refers to the RC summer course which required a year of classroom study before attending the two week summer phase that could not have been completed given the time line; an officer would not get “DISCHARGE orders” after completing a 2 week school; TDY reimbursement requires travel orders, not discharge orders; the “xxxx” line is not part of the memorandum format; and the signature block should be “LTC, AG” without the spaces between.
I’m just a stupid 11A, so you’d think and an AG corps LTC commanding a PAC would be able to spot those before signing.
Also, the zip code from this letter is North Carolina, not Indiana. I was stationed at Ft. Ben in 1991, I don’t remember this command there.
Also, that seal, the “United States War Office” hasn’t been used in decades. Also note the zip code is wrong for the “Griffin Consulting”, allegedly in New York, listed in the address line.
There also doesn’t appear to be a 1670 Jefferson Avenue in White Plains, NY…Jefferson Avenue in White Plains is a residential street.
Finally, all U.S. Army officers are commissioned by the President, with advice and consent from the U.S. Senate.
Well, well, well, if it isn’t bobogirl, back from parts unknown. When you talk to that other person, who decided not to show in Minnesota, maybe he can ‘splain to ya why he never showed up. Could it be that his own bragging about awards not received would be brought out into the open?
See, I was sure the reason you hadn’t been on here in a while was due to the fact that lovedumplins got caught holding his flaccid manhood. There’s really nothing for you to say, at this point, since every comment you make from here on out will be greeted with derision and disdain by me.
OT, hate to bust your balls, man, but her post was from May.
Oops, my bad, I didn’t look at the date on bobgirls reply. She’s still MIA, as is the other person. Shocking!!

Can anyone explain why he had pictures of him with a group of soldiers, with bullpup-style rifles, and berets (he explained they were British Special Forces)? He would have to have photoshopped them. He had one of them on his wall in the classroom. Maybe someone can ask Schepansky for these later, for analysis. This was back in 2003-2004
Also, It may help if someone posts a military records document of an Actual special forces guy to compare.
