Trans Waiver in the Navy

My Navy is now granting waivers for mental illness, for no particular reason I can see. I suppose collisions at sea due to criminal overtasking, Kangaroo Courts with dirty prosecutors and NCIS agents, and ships-of-the-line at pier side due to COVID-19 weren’t enough to crush the morale of the Sailors, so now we have this.

Navy grants first waiver allowing transgender officer to remain in uniform

J.D. Simkins

The U.S. Navy granted its first waiver this week that will allow a transgender service member to continue serving despite a 2019 policy that would have seen the sailor discharged.

The naval officer, identified in the case as Jane Doe, served nearly 10 years in uniform as a surface warfare officer before being confronted with the likelihood of being kicked out under the new rules.

Doe filed her complaint — Lt. Jane Doe v. Mark T. Esper — in March in Massachusetts federal district court, with representation coming from the GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) and the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR).

According to the members of her legal team, Doe first came out as transgender after being diagnosed with gender dysphoria in June 2019. The new guidelines, however, went into effect in April 2019, leaving Doe without protection under the policy’s grandfather clause.

Under the current arrangement, military personnel who joined any branch “in their preferred gender or were diagnosed with gender dysphoria before the 2018 policy takes effect are exempt from the new policy and may serve in their preferred gender,” the Defense Department’s guidelines state.

The new policy was put into effect on the heels of a 2017 tweet from President Donald Trump that declared the military would no longer allow “transgender individuals to serve in any capacity,” a decision, the president wrote, came after “consultation with my Generals.”

*sigh* Another victory for the Social Justice Howler Monkeys. Read the rest of the article here: Navy Times

Thanks, AW1 Rod. I think.

Junior officers get their commissions from Congress, so this could (and probably would) turn into a political fight if Trump tried to have “Klinger” here removed.

An interesting counter-move would be instead to reinstate the ban on women in combat roles. Problem solved!

Schizophrenia will disqualify you from military service. Mayo clinic website says Schizophrenia is:

. . . A serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations, delusions, and extremely disordered thinking and behavior that impairs daily functioning, and can be disabling.

Apparently, thinking you are a woman when you were born with the standard issue wedding tackle all other dudes are born with is not delusional thinking. If someone is killed and all that is left is some blood, sex can be reliably ascertained from analysis of that blood. In other words, science (the non-political kind) knows your gender even if you don’t. But, who am I kidding, thinking and plan to see facts are not important to the “progressive” agenda.

Sounds like that could apply to that federal court in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts…

Ex-PH2

Well…. has this “chick” had the medical department rearrange her/his/its physiology and anatomy? And must they do this at taxpayers’ expense?

Oh, that was rude of me…. and I don’t give a shit any more. There is something about forcing people to accept you for your hatred of what you were born into is a sign of instability. I could go on, but I know when I’m wasting my time and energy.

Cummins

I don’t believe that if you can’t beat them join them.
I’d rather keep beating them until THEY get the f**king point.

Two genders and how many states of confusion now? I can deal with your state of confusion so long as I don’t have to deal with you, the cost of it, and/or the forcing it upon people who feel like I do. Which, I would venture to say, is 99.69% of most of the serving military, past and present.

Did the Village People Band start all this crap so many decades ago? Never thought much of them or their music(?) either.

rgr769

I like their music, especially the venerable “YMCA.” They put out a good sound, which is greatly preferable to that noise they call rap music.

5th/77th FA

Lost in the 60s/70s classic rock/country/oldies/R&B, rgr769. Disco, New Wave, Bubble Gum, Pop Country and especially rap, never grooved my stylus.

Rap did make me a lot of money from selling replacement speakers and big thump amps for the hoopdee mobiles.

Finding that some of my original LPs are worth a little $ to collectors.

Hack Stone

One particular day back in 1990, Hack was sitting in the barbershop in 29 Palms waiting to get his hair calibrated, and he was reading an old newspaper they ad. in that paper was an article about The Village People. They had a dark secret hidden from the public. Two of them were heterosexual, but were afraid it would ruin their careers if word got out.

xyzzy

Three genders. Masculine, feminine, and neuter.

Hack Stone

How long are transgender military members (no pun intended) in a non-deployable status while waiting PCS (Permanent Cock Separation)? Between preliminary psychological/psychiatric examinations, preoperative hormone therapy, surgery, recovery and follow up treatment, you are probably looking at two years minimum. Most commands are understrength, what with filling those necessary billets such as Barracks NCO, Mess Duty, and Guard Duty. Then you have those with combat injuries, those with those phantom injuries diagnosed by the barracks Corpsman/disability advocate, pregnancies, maternity/paternity leave and other miscellaneous reasons for losing personnel, and it will end up the same three guys doing all of the work and deployments.

“But transgenders want t serve their country.” Well, a lot of physically, mentally and morally unqualified want to serve, but the military is not willing to invest the money and time to make them meet the standards, why should they waste their money who stands a good chance of never completing an enlistment?

Hack Stone Publishing regrets the error. It must be that cheap spellcheck software he purchased from some cheesy software company in Bethesda MD.

rgr769

Trannies serving in the military is about as stupid as putting women in the infantry. But Progs gotta prog. Plus, the SJW’s real objective is to make our military, which they all hate, non-combat effective.

Will “Jane Doe” take command of USNS Harvey Milk when it’s completed? /s

So if a woman pretending to be a man gets taken from behind while on the pier …. is it queer?

penguinman000

Decisions of this nature should revolve around one single question. Does this decision improve the lethality and effectiveness of our war fighters?

I fail to see how approving this is a yes answer to the above question. The military discriminates for tons of reasons. Eye sight, pregnancy, cancer, various other mental health issues… In the past it there were idiotic/racist reasons for it. Thankfully the days of institutional stupidity and bigotry are gone.

In today’s Navy discrimination is there to improve lethality. It’s a hard pill for some to swallow but necessary none the less.

Not to mention the medical bomb this particular service member presents to a command. Suicide rates around 50%, long term hormone therapy, etc…

How many transgender patients are going to be stuck on permanent shore duty while other Sailors are stuck on sea duty? Or what about the Sailors getting MEB/PEB for cancer, psych, etc..? This kind of decision could result in units manning being all screwed up, retention being affected, undermanning in critical billets at sea, etc..

There is no upside for a war fighting organization when this kind of silliness rears its head. It’s a drag on morale, readiness and resources.

Hack Stone

“It’s a drag on morale, readiness and resources” We saw what you did there. Well played, penguinman000, well played.

SgtM

I remember when WM,s had their own barracks with a red line painted around it. Then they had third floor rooms. Then they were dispersed through the barracks. Not soon after they were getting pregnant and getting out of everything. One of my PFC’s caught the Gunny dorking a newly minted Cpl WM in the paint shop. I told him to shut his mouth unless both of us wanted kicked out. She got pregnant by a Comm Sgt and got out.

Hack Stone

When Hack Stone was with a particular FSSG Battalion, there was a Sergeant who “earned” five, count ’em five, Navy Achievement Medals in two years. While we were all working extended hours on the bench, she was behind a locked door with the Company XO, probably looking over the MIMMS reports. Yeah, that must have been what they were doing.

penguinman000

Well on the upside, I don’t think they’ll have to worry about the zero in this article getting pregnant.

jarhead

Let’s say a sailor thinks he’s a female penguin with a penis. Does that mean a promotion to Chief Penguin Officer would be possible?

SFC D

Only if the Sailor in question is stationed in the Antarctic.

jarhead

That makes sense, at least to me. But what if he lived in Pittsburgh and like to wear poodle skirts? Chief Poodle Officer? And don’t suggest only if he were stationed at a dog rescue shelter.

STSC(SW/SS)

No they would both be Chief Pathetic Officer.

Stacy0311

Well this will definitely put the fear of something in the minds of our enemies.

Just imagine how it’ll go down if LT(jg) Confused is commanding a small boat that gets snatched up by the Iranians (yeah I know, that will NEVER happen). Interesting times.

But this wackjob is probably am Intel weenie. They seem to attract the weirdos

MCPO USN

In this regard “jg” stands for “joint gender”….

SFC D

Semi-off topic, but I had to share. My High School recently voted to change their mascot, as “Redskins” is no longer acceptable. The local school board is soliciting ideas for a new name, via the local paper. Being a good citizen and all, I submitted a suggestion;

The Social Justice Warrior Howler Monkeys.

It’s a futile and stupid gesture, and I got far too much joy out of it. But it had to be done.

Nice!
Spitballing here: Maxim Gorky Essayist Club for Sport and the Continued Glorification of the Workers’ Collective.
It’s wordy but gets a point across.

Commissar

There are a great deal of medical, cognitive, and mental health conditions that disqualify someone from military service.

Almost are are not the fault of the potential recruit.

But it is in the best interest of the service and national defense that they are disqualified.

Gender dysphoria should be one of them.

Hondo

There are a great deal of medical, cognitive, and mental health conditions that disqualify someone from military service . . . . Gender dysphoria should be one of them.

Who the hell are you, and what have you done with Commissar?

Roh-Dog

IKR?!?
Sound logic on this one tho, mission readiness is job one…, two, three, four, etc.
It ain’t like extracting a bad toofis!

5th/77th FA

Seems to be a disturbance in the farce. That’s not the FIRST time this month he has said something that made sense. I saw this post at 0God30hrs today and thought I was dreaming it, but I’m caffinated and it is still here. ?!?DAHELL?!!?

Roh-Dog

I don’t know FA. Maybe this 2020 is a creation of The Almighty to determine the tensile strength of our grip on reality.
Any other theory hasn’t seemed back-testable.

5th/77th FA

Good point, and you are probably right ‘Dog. Either that or I DID take the brown acid!

AW1 Rod

Shit! I wasn’t sure I was in the right place!

I am definitely buying a lottery ticket today. Must be some kind of planetary alignment today.

USAF (Ret)

My son is one of those “Medically” DQ persons. Because of his many allergies he cannot enlist in the Air Farce. He wanted to become a PJ. He has “Aced” the PT evaluation. Graduated HS with a 3.5 GPA. But because of peanuts, he cannot enlist.

Maybe instead of peanuts he should claim his penis is a vagina; maybe then he could enlist.

ArmyATC

There ya go. He could say it was a mistake. He doesn’t have a peanut allergy, it’s a penis allergy. Have him show up in a poodle skirt and bobby socks to reinforce the point. Hell, he might get a direct commission!

Mason

Be careful with that opinion there, Commissar. It’s enough to get you un-personed in your sociopolitical circles.

11B-Mailclerk

Maybe he plays for abuse from the other team, too?

Commissar

I am a middle age white male who generally supports gun rights, hates Hillary Clinton, thinks cultural relativity is bullshit, thinks white privilege theory is misused, and hates the Democratic Party.

I am not usually well received in most liberal identity circles.

rgr769

I think our beloved Commissar has been killed and replaced by an alien pod person or a single male version of a Stepford wife.

Only Army Mom

I really don’t care about or even have a problem with trans. You be you, whoever you want to be, I’ll be me. However, there needs to be some consistency on standards.

Mental health fitness is a required component of military service, Amiright? The DSM-5, issued in 2013 lists gender dysphoria as a diagnosable disorder. Also, doesn’t every member of the military need to be “combat-able”, or the equivalent per their MOS?

Slight correction to Penguin-gender dysphoria has a 70% suicide rate that is stable pre- and post-transition. 70%. This fact is why, despite the outcry, gender dysphoria is, and will remain, listed as a mental illness per the DSM-5. The next highest suicide rates are for Bipolar I and Borderline Personality Disorder, and those rates are around 30%. Both of those diagnoses are either non waiverable conditions, or a quick exit from service. So why this?

I just don’t get it. From a purely medical/mental illness perspective, it just doesn’t make sense.

SFC D

From a purely readiness/capability perspective, it makes no sense.

rgr1480

You make a LOT of sense!

Huey Jock

Trans’s and homos almost universally demand special dispensation for their choices of behavior.

That problem has to be addressed and remedied first.

Had I received a letter like that, it would’ve been framed and proudly displayed.
