Obama’s commencement speech an indictment of the Trump era

| May 17, 2020

Former President Barack Obama

In his first major national address since the coronavirus pandemic began, Barry delivered a commencement speech to graduates at historically black colleges Saturday. And much of his advice to students was an indictment of the Trump administration’s management of the pandemic.

Ironically, one of the ‘toons on Boomer’s Sunday is a quote from Teddy Roosevelt, and states “Complaining about a problem without posing a solution is called whining.”

Pretty apt.

Barack Obama to 2020 Graduates: Current Leaders ‘Aren’t Even Pretending to Be in Charge’

Former President Barack Obama said in a commencement speech on Saturday that current leaders during the coronavirus crisis were failing 2020 graduates.

“More than anything this pandemic has fully finally torn back the curtain on the idea that so many of the folks in charge know what they’re doing,” he said. “A lot of them aren’t even pretending to be in charge.”

The former president did not directly criticize Donald Trump, but he repeatedly referred to leaders currently in power.

“Broad majorities agree on the ends,” he said, urging graduates to seek unity. “That’s why folks with power will keep trying to divide you over the means. That’s how nothing changes.”

On the stump for Biden, I see. Hardly surprising. Read the entire article, if you feel you need to, here: Breitbart

Sounds like he is not happy with the Trump Administration. Who should get the blame? The Democrats and the Main Stream Media. They decided that Hillary Clinton would be crowned Queen Of America, primary results be damned. Unfortunately, their candidate was is so universally despised that voting Americans were left with the choice of voting for another four years of corrupt Clinton politics as usual, or some dark horse (orange horse?) candidate. And for 2020, the best candidate they think will unseat Donald Trump is Joe Biden. Hack doesn’t know which is worse, the incessant corruption of Joe Biden (extorting Ukraine to fire that prosecutor), or his early stage of dementia. What are the odds that Biden is “incapacitated come November and they install Cuomo as the candidate?

    • 5th/77th FA says:

Well said and spot on Hack Stone! Eff this American hating JEF. And eff the skrunt dashitlerbeast, the BITCH of Benghazi, murderous trash from hell. And yep, eff Cuomo and his whining murderous azz. So sick of seeing his crap on the national news EVERY night. So sick of all of these domestic enemies of our Republic. Believe you are correct too, in that the demon rats don’t care who is on the ballot. There intention is to have enough stolen mail in votes that no matter who is on it, their person wins. Oblowme picked Biden for his VP simply to have a cheap life insurance policy.

      • Hack Stone says:

Barrack Obama is so confident that Joe Biden is the right choice to lead this country through this crisis and repair the damage done by the current administration that it only took him 355 days from the day that Biden announced his candidacy to when Obama endorsed him. That should give you some clue in the confidence that Obama has in Biden’s abilities.

        • 11B-Mailclerk says:

And he was so certain of it, he endorsed Joe

Only after every other meaningful candidate called it “quits”.

Real courageous stand there, zer0. Gutsy call.

        • A Proud Infidel®™️ says:

OH, so you want to jettison a successful Billionaire who ran his own businesses for someone who has been sucking at the public teat for decades and has been caught red-handed making corrupt money! 😆😆😆

  2. Wireman611 says:

He’s right you know, I cite the governors of NY, MI, WI and all the others who are crushing their states. Honorable mention goes to the mayors of NYC, Chiraq and their policies of keeping people locked down with no access to parks, beaches, etc.

    • Fyrfighter says:

Good points.. as often happens with the JEF (and dems in general), what they say is true, they just try to tie it to the wrong side (projection and all)…
“A lot of them aren’t even pretending to be in charge.”.. as you point out, he’s not wrong, and after all, who would know more about “pretending to be in charge” than Mr. Phone and Pen???

  3. Slow Joe says:

But, he is the smartestz guy in the room!

    • 11B-Mailclerk says:

Oh, he is smart enough. He did win the White House twice.

What he is, is foolish. He believes in things that are not so, and does things that produce bad results any thinking person can forsee.

He also apparently believes his own bullshit, which is never wise in a con job.

  4. HMCS(FMF) ret says:

Remember… anytime the JEF gets involved with another campaign, it is the loser.

  5. Ex-PH2 says:

Used to be that valedictorians gave the commencement speeches. Now it’s a bunch of bubble-brained celebrities instead. Okay, the times, they are a-changin’… and it’s just dumbfounding.

    • HMCS(FMF) ret says:

Now Ex… do you now how hard it is to live your life with so many people around you catering to your every whim, while your trying to keep up your book of face, insty and tweeting profiles?

Yeah, but I have a cat. I have to wait on her demands and meet them or get ‘that look’.

This coming from a former President who went golfing instead of attending the funeral of a US Army Major General who was KIA. And how about the manifold multimillion dollar vacations he took at taxpayer expense? Also, how about his actions and words that set racial relations back at least fifty years!

    • Skippy says:

Like Obama. it’s sad when all we can produce
For leaders in our country of 330 million people is a inter city tug and a TV game show
      Host to lead us
I’ll pick the later knowing he’s ran a business
Made a shit load of money and lost it
Only to make more instead of being on the Public dole making a living

    • Blaster says:

“You all are missing the point.

The point is that Obama sucks”

      There, fixed it. 😁😎

      • Commissar says:

Truth is an absolute defense for slander.

Come on AW1Ed, you know I am right about this. Trump is an abysmally bad president. And just a truly awful person.

It is hard the believe there is any genuine counter argument on this.

        The guy is wretched,

A true dark triad; sociopath, narcissist, and sadist. The fact that he is also a fucking moron and incompetent are merely aggravating factors.

        • AW1Ed says:

I really do try not to step on my own posts, Lars. But you bring out the worst in me.
Granted Trump is a lot of things; moron and incompetent aren’t in the mix. I’m not getting into a debate- no minds would be changed. But if you want to swing the incompetent moron bat, I give you Joe Biden.

          • LC says:

            I’m pretty sure both qualify.

To paraphrase Erasmus, “In the land of the idiots, the man with half a coherent thought is king.

          • Ex-PH2 says:

The best you can say about Biden is that he is bordering on senile dementia. That video of him yakking while he walked off-camera, oblivious to his surroundings, is priceless.

Even better was when his dentures nearly fell out of his mouth because he either didn’t use enough Poligrip, or he needs new dentures.

He’s blithely unaware of a lot of things, including the fact that he freaks out kids when he tries to grope them, which is just freaking creepy. It would be nice if some kid turned on him and smacked him or kicked him in the shins and yelled at him.

The only reason the Dems want him in that office is that he’s always been idiotically unaware of what a social moron he is, and it’s just getting worse. I’m sure they think they can run roughshod over everyone everywhere, once he gets into office.

        • 11B-Mailclerk says:

Smart enough to -soundly- defeat the Clintion-Democrat machine.

And to do so on his very first try. Heh.

And he makes it look -easy- to wreck a century of Proggie scheming.

You hate him because he exposes your side for the corrupt saboteurs they are.

        • ArmyATC says:

“A true dark triad; sociopath, narcissist, and sadist. The fact that he is also a fucking moron and incompetent are merely aggravating factors.”

I agree. Obama is all of those and more.

        • MSG Eric says:

Who is worse, the one who tells you to your face you’re a bad person? Or the one who masks it behind a smile and derides, berates, and influences others to believe their adversaries are bad people? (Especially while not specifically naming them)

Obama did plenty to divide peoples of the US himself while president. He also had plenty of scandals of his own, especially the one we received new information about recently.

Just because he’s eloquent and a very good orator, doesn’t mean he’s any better an example for president than Trump is.

Charisma often brings abuse of power with it.

          • ArmyATC says:

“Just because he’s eloquent and a very good orator, doesn’t mean he’s any better an example for president than Trump is.”

Here’s the funny thing about that. While true that Obama was and still is considered eloquent, that was only true as long as he stayed on point and on teleprompter. As soon as he went off point or off teleprompter he showed how idiotic he truly is.

          • Ex-PH2 says:

Have you never seen Obama stammering when his teleprompter died? Like watching a bad actor who forgot his lines and cues, and is covering up his incompetence with hot air.

Obama was and is an idiot. He signifies nothing, other than he got lucky.

          • rgr769 says:

Eloquent? You must never have heard him talking when he is off prompter. He should have been an actor; he is only adept at saying what others have written for him when it is on a screen in front of him.

        • Poetrooper says:

“Truth is an absolute defense for slander.”

That’s only true if it’s provable, factual, demonstrable truth, Lars, not just some asshole’s opinion.

As usual, dipwad, you did a tap-dance on your crank…

        • Retired Grunt says:

I’m gonna give you something Commissar. Trump is an a s s hole…. He definitely runs his mouth a little too much and he should never be allowed on Twitter. That being said I understand some of the places he comes from he thinks and he speaks his ideas at the same time which makes him seem like hes moronic and then he goes back and he starts to research some of his ideas and he realizes that hes really the president And he has to weigh that against anything that actually passes. Yes Donald Trump is a butthole because he talks too much. His policies have actually been very good for this country and I personally believe that he does care deeply I do not know if i could say the same thing about Hillary Clinton who had been searching her entire life for power.

    • SFC D says:

Don’t choke on that obamacock, Commissar.

    • Hack Stone says:

And how is Joe Biden the better choice? If he has any bright ideas for running America, why weren’t they implemented during the eight years of the Obama-Biden Administration? Tell us why we should vote for Biden, not why we should not vote for Trump.

      • LC says:

As someone who dislikes Trump and thinks Biden is a moron, I think one of the key differences is that Biden doesn’t have the ego. He’s a moron, but he knows he’s a moron, and will appoint smarter people to key positions.

And I expect none of those people will be relatives. My distaste from Trump is amplified by the roles his family plays. I’m quite sure that had Hillary asked Chelsea to negotiate a mid-East peace plan, conservative heads would’ve exploded.

I didn’t like my choices in 2016, and don’t like them now. But I do think in that regard, Biden is better.

        • A Proud Infidel®™️ says:

Uuuhhhm, the Ukrainian gas company, the money that Biden’s son got from China,…? And how about the fact that his son ALSO ended up getting a US Navy Commission while his daddy was VP (Magically got a waiver for his age as well) and then pissed hot for coke?

          • LC says:

Do you think all of that is worse than the various family deals and positions in the Trump administration?

I’m not excusing the Biden stuff, I’m simply saying that Biden’s is bad, and Trump’s is worse. I don’t expect his son will be negotiating Mideast peace deals, for example.

And I hope to god I’m right about that if he wins. If not, I’ll aim to make him a one-term President.

        • ArmyATC says:

Biden doesn’t have the ego? Really? How about when Biden told that auto worker that he – as an elected official – didn’t work for him. Biden is arrogant and that’s a bad thing when he’s also a moron. He likes to pander to the crowd by acting the “average Joe.” He lies repeatedly and has absolutely no remorse for it. His entire political life has been nothing but self-aggrandizement for political gain and personal enrichment. How is that not the act of a massive ego?

          • Hondo says:

Seems to me it would take a huge ego to skinny-dip in front of strangers, even at your own home – plus to lay hands on God alone knows how many women (and at least one male LEO) without their consent.

Biden is a liar (see his abject, total, and repeated falsehoods regarding the death of his first wife; was caught to be a plagiarist at least 2x, separated by decades (in law school and while in the Senate, if I recall correctly); and went from being one of the poorest Senators to being rather wealthy while VP. And he’s baldface threatened another foreign nation (Ukraine) while serving as VP if they didn’t quit investigating his son’s apparently corrupt business dealings. All of those smack of ego to me.

When it comes to Biden, I’m reminded of Churchill’s comment regarding a political opponent: “If he ran for office against the Devil, I’d at least put in a good word for his opponent in the House of Commons” (or something to that effect).

          • LC says:

Fair enough – I should’ve been more clear. Biden definitely has an ego in some areas, but doesn’t think he’s the biggest genius in the world. That’s where I expect he’ll hire bright people.

POTUS, on the other hand, routinely knows more than anyone about everything, at least according to him – these lists are just partial ones:

Once again, I don’t like Biden, but I do think he’s less arrogant on anything resembling government policy.

            • Hondo says:

Biden’s also essentially a clueless fool, and has zero character. He also doesn’t have a clue how the real world works outside of DC.

Trump may have had zipper issues in the past, and certainly could use a verbal filter. But he understands how the real world works.

Last time I checked, the last is desirable if not essential in a POTUS. For an example of a “nice guy” (which Biden IS NOT) who failed on that score, see Peanut Farmer, Jimmuh the.

            • ArmyATC says:

I think that’s where you’re wrong. You think Biden isn’t arrogant. This is a guy who has never been right his entire political career, yet thinks he’s smart enough to hold the highest office in the land. He’s never admitted he’s been wrong. And while you think Biden is the lesser of two evils, think about this. As dementia addled as Biden is there’s a better than average chance he won’t finish a first term. Basically, a vote for Biden is really a vote for his VP.

        • Poetrooper says:

“He’s a moron, but he knows he’s a moron, and will appoint smarter people to key positions.”

So a “moron” will appoint smarter people, hmm?

I’d say that that’s an excellent example of moronic reasoning, LC.

          • LC says:

Yes, because Trump is an even bigger moron, only worse, he’s one who thinks he’s a genius. Someone who knows they’re out of their depth will listen to those who might know more. Someone who thinks they know than everyone else won’t.

Neither are evil, it’s a choice between the lesser of two morons right now.

        • Retired Grunt says:

I thought the Chelsea Clinton had already negotiated a Middle East peace plan isn’t that the reason she got like a 7 figure job right out of college. Oh wait….. I am a high school dropout I dropped out at 16 and ran as far away as I could my 1st job out of college was only $33000 a year protecting other peoples lives as a police officer. I’m really not mad about that I just thought Chelsea Clinton had already solved the problems of the Middle East. The Middle East that’s like Illinois right????

          • LC says:

Kids of rich and powerful get seven-figure jobs even if their only proven skill is picking their nose. That’s a sad reality I’d also love to see changed, but tangential to the question of Biden v. Trump, I think.

        • MCPO USN says:

Then your thinking apparatus is broken.

          • MCPO USN says:

My previous comment was in response to LC’s comment above.

          • LC says:

With regards to which point? That Trump is a moron, too? I don’t imagine I’ll change your mind, but I’m genuinely curious.

        • MK75Gunner says:

Yes the man that said all this has no ego. Bullshit. He has a huge ego and without any cause to. Everything he said during the minute he was on the campaign trail in ’88 here was a lie. He is a venal, lying, bullying, arrogant, unaccomplished buffoon. Peter Schweizer just finished a well sourced entire book regarding Biden’s family and how they have enriched themselves via his political clout and you’re gonna sit there and spew the stupid shit you did? He is everything you say Trump is and yet you’ll vote for him because he aint Trump.

          • LC says:

I clarified above; I should’ve been more clear in my wording. Yes, Biden has an ego. But he knows when he’s out of his depth, too, at least with slightly more awareness than President Trump, anyway.

That Biden’s family enriched themselves is also regrettable, but also par for the course for pretty much anyone in high-level politics in this country. It doesn’t excuse it, but it puts it on the same playing field as the Trump family.. unless pulling in millions at his clubs from the government alone, let alone foreign governments, is not an issue to you?

Yes, I’ll likely vote against Trump. And then quite possibly against Biden the next time around. Some of us hate idiots on all sides of the aisle, not just the opposing one.

    • The Other Whitey says:

How about your former Glorious Leader and his blatantly-false claims of being “scandal-free,” Lars? Or his equally-false claims of “transparency?” Obama is a do-nothing bullshit artist. Pretty much the only category in which he has Trump beat is that he doesn’t appear to have cheated on his wife (as far as we know). That’s literally the only respectable thing about that son of a bitch.

  13. MK75Gunner says:

But remember Biden’s family isn’t getting rich off his political clout…

  14. Only Army Mom says:

The thing about Trump appointing his kids…

I have problems with nepotism mainly because the relations are generally incompetent morons who could never get or keep a job without those coattails upon which they ride. That is not the case here. There can be no question about the intelligence of these kids.

The other side of the coin…

When you have been and are being attacked, when you know that nearly everyone around you has an agenda of, at minimum, their own personal gain, one can understand trusting family above all others.

I have friends I’ve known for many decades whom I love with all my heart. They are people I agree with on most every important issue, and I admire their intellect, integrity and accomplishments and literally trust with my life, my money and my future.

But they have their own lives. Their own businesses to run. Their own family’s future to plan for and protect. And, I can’t expect them to drop their lives and devote themselves to my life, my vision, my plans, and face nothing but vilification for their loyalty. And my life and challenges are absolutely nothing and inconsequential in comparison.

I can’t imagine if I had the responsibility of the free world in front of me and was required to step into a den of thieves, liars, snakes and scammers, many who were placed into their position by an ideologically opposite predecessor who know part of my agenda was to end their future influence. The only ones you can ask to step into that morass with you is family.

    • SFC D says:

I’m in agreement with you on the nepotism point, but I do have an issue with the Trump kids working that close to the oval office. Having that much family involved in the presidency makes me nervous, as it appears to me to being too much of a consolidation of unelected, nearly unfireable government advisors. I had the same issues with Hillary being propped up asa the queen of health care during the Clinton years, and I’m sure many people had similar issues with RFK and JFK.

The big difference between the Trump kids and that Biden kid? The Trump kids were doing pretty damn good without using daddy’s political position as leverage. Did Trump give them an advantage? Of course he did. But at his own expense, not the nations.

  15. E4 Mafia '83-'87 says:

I’ll paraphrase Barry bananas:”Trump is undoing the Globalist Uptopia that I carefully planned out through the introduction of the Survaillance State” he added “The Socialist Rhetoric is to fool the Leftists that they are in charge whiles its actually us, The Liberal Elites in the Ivory Towers, running the country into the ground to line our pockets”
    Yeah, no wonder he’s mad.

    • Deckie says:

Sounds about right. I shake my head at the tens of thousands of gullible children who think he was some great messiah for the country and the left.

Truly the worst president in modern times. We got nothing done in eight years and they delight in his lack of leadership.
