Releasing some 1400 prisoners, including eight sex offenders, citing concerns that jails might become hot spots for spreading the infectious disease, has secondary effects. While patently obvious to a causal observer, apparently the Mayor failed to consider the ramifications of releasing criminals into the wild. The results were entirely predictable.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday it is “unconscionable” that criminals released early from prison over coronavirus fears would commit new crimes.
“I think it’s unconscionable just on a human level that folks were shown mercy and this is what some of them have done,” de Blasio told reporters during a briefing Monday, according to the New York Post.
The mayor elected to release more than 1,400 city inmates as part of the state’s prison break over concerns that the virus would ravage prisons and further the spread of the infectious disease.
De Blasio’s comments follow news from over the weekend that at least 50 inmates who were released early have reoffended and landed back in jail — with some already being readmitted into society again.
He’s fortunate the recidivism rate is so low, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Read the rest of the article here: The Blaze

I wonder if there were any pics of Fredo Cuomo out looking at real estate with his with and getting razzed by passers-by when was “quarantining’ himself for dozens of watchers of his cable ‘news’ show.
NYC’s strict gun control laws are part of the reason. If a criminal doesn’t have to fear lethal reprisal for his actions, what else does he have to fear? Another line item in his rap sheet?
Bail reform has left all the power in the hands of the criminals there. Now throw this on top of that. Absolutely no incentive whatsoever for people to comply with the law other than social pressure. Social pressure is decidedly against following the law in certain socio-economic circles.

That’s 1400 rearrests that will have to be made at untold hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer money, just to fix his fuck-up.
I said before, they were already confined in their spaces and easily treated should they become sick.

No way it’s only 50 out of 1,400. Even 50% is probably being very conservative.
Not sure if nationally or just for NY, but 68% of criminals released will recommit crimes and be back in jail within three years.
That’s not to say that if someone has done their time, they shouldn’t be released. They should be given their chance to re-enter society and become an asset instead of a liability.
It was just the ones caught.
Let’s be honest. He understood what would happen, how much would happen and when. He just values the freedom of criminals more than he values the safety of law abiding tax payers.
This is a core part of progressive (or marxist, or post-modernist, or socialist, or green) ideology as in such ideology the stipulation is that the criminal is merely a victim of the evil bourgeois society and not a free actor.
Therefore, the criminal is of higher value than the middle class tax payer and as such, is more important to the proggie politico.
It is a convoluted and insane level of tautology involved in the belief, but at its core: You filthy white middle class shitheads created the criminal through the mere act of existing and therefore, any crimes committed are just revenge.
So don’t give these jeekers a pass here…they thought about it and simply like the consequences of allowing criminals to roam free. This is why US cities are so crime filled and nothing ever seems to be done about it.
