Pentagon Says Secretary of the Navy John Phelan Exiting Trump Administration

Secretary of the U.S. Navy John Phelan was revealed to be leaving his role with the Trump administration, “effective immediately,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell shared.
In a post on X, Parnell expressed that, on behalf of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Deputy Secretary of War Steve Feinberg, they were “grateful” to Phelan “for his service.” Parnell added that Under Secretary of the U.S. Navy Hung Cao would be serving as the Acting Secretary of the Navy.
“On behalf of the Secretary of War and Deputy Secretary of War, we are grateful to Secretary Phelan for his service to the Department and the United States Navy,” Parnell said. “We wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Phelan was reportedly “asked to step down,” an “official” in the Trump administration told the Hill.
Undersecretary Hung Cao, a 25-year Navy combat veteran is taking over as acting head of the Navy. Waiting on the back-story, but if this is the result of a policy disagreement everyone would have been better served if Phelan had just quietly resigned “to spend more time with the family.”
Category: Big Navy, Reality Check

Early morning NBC reports alluded to a disagreement with Hegseth, but really offered nothing concrete. If this is true, then Phelan did the right thing in stepping down. He’s there to support and enact the policies of SECWAR and POTUS. If you can’t do that, resign.
I mean, he had absolutely no experience in the Navy and was only hired because he was a millionaire donor to Trump’s election fund. Maybe that should have been enough to keep him from getting the position?
My sources tell me this was not about policy, it was about effectiveness and performance. Also some stray voltage regarding an Epstein flight or two (you can read on wikipedia).
I would assume his effectiveness and performance could have been related to the fact that he had never served in the military and only got the job because he was a big donor to Trump’s re-election campaign?
He is not the first Secretary without military experience, and he probably won’t be the last. Given the recent record of professional military officers with extensive military experience (LCS, various collisions, etc.) I don’t see any particular disadvantage to having a capable individual without military experience in policy making positions such as Sec.
You mean, civilian control of the military is bad? Or control is best by civilian crony insiders who answer to “admiral”?
You really didn’t think this all through before shitposting other people’s thoughts, eh?
Amateur SloganParrot.
Hung Cow? What kind of a name is that? (I keed, I keed)
A well hung bull?
A hung cow would be a bull, yes.
A Steely Dan tune from ’77…or is it Black Cow?
Mooooving right along…
The difference between the Trump Administration and Biden:
Under #47, you serve at the pleasure of the POSTUS, but under Biden it was 4-year gig regardless of performance. Imagine if the SECDEF spent a week in the hospital without telling anyone? Just a “Yeah, fuck it. I need some work and no reason to tell sleepy Joe I’m not on the job”. Was Austin trying to save leave days on his next LES? Think about the shit show Dept of Transportation under Booty-gig. Airline traffic at standstill and the East Palestine train wreck that became another train wreck of ineffectiveness. None of the those guys lost their jobs, and the Industrial Media Complex just sung their praises.
I was supporting 1st Bde, 10th Mtn when it was activated under, then Colonel, General Jack Keane. Major Lloyd Austin was S3 of 2-22 Inf. Austin had a history of not being around at the finish of brigade runs. 3 years later, LTC Austin became Bde XO.
And all Hegseth did was leak war plans on Signal to a reporter and fortunately he was held completely accountable and fired immediately.
Lie and you know it, or you are just a talking parrot.

Lars, is that you?
Hung Cao should’ve been Trump’s choice for SECNAV from the very beginning.
Trump hates people that lose elections, and Cao has lost two of them, both to Democrats in Virginia. Any other Republican candidate would have secured an easy win.
Why don’t you go French-kiss a pissed-off porcupine right square in the ass?
I saw a report this morning that it focused on SECNAV not refusing to follow a court order concerning Senator Kelly.
