LA County Sheriff Orders Closure of Gun Stores, Releases 1,700 Inmates

By: AWR HAWKINS

Fox 11 reports the gun store closures are part of the coronavirus stay-at-home order while the release of the inmates is an attempt to slow the spread of the virus in county facilities.

Villanueva is the Director of Emergency Operations, which means “all FEMA requests go through him, and all National Guard requests go through him.”

He said, “When we’re communicating the shelter in place or the safer at home, there’s a lot of anguish, however, the people who have to enforce it are public safety, and we were totally out of the process, we were not involved,”

Villanueva defended his decision to close gun stores, by intimating that all the first-time gun buyers emerging amid the virus crisis create a perilous situation: “I’m a supporter of the 2nd amendment, I’m a gun owner myself, but now you have the mixture of people that are not formerly gun owners and you have a lot more people at home and anytime you introduce a firearm in a home, from what I understand from CDC studies, it increases fourfold the chance that someone is gonna get shot.”

Translation? “I’m a Fudd, I have mine, and I believe bullshit statistics.”

Those Purge movies weren’t meant to be enacted,…right?

  2. Jeff says:

So gun stores are now closed but they are going to release 1700 criminals back into the wild. I hope there is not a spike in crime!

  3. Graybeard says:

I think he just gave the fine folks in LA County permission to shoot on sight.

  4. The Other Whitey says:

Fuck you, too, sheriff! Thank Christ I don’t live or work in that fucking cesspool. Not that Bill Gore is much better.

  5. David says:

Believe I read the LA attorney has already notified him that he can’t close gun stores, and he has already backed down. At a guess, the DA used words like “unconstitutional”. It is notable how quickly the power elite tries to suspend your rights and not theirs.

  6. SFC D says:

It’s only 1700 released, how bad can it get?

    sarc?

  7. Skippy says:

This is what I’ve been fearing
Use a crisis to advance a agenda
I hope there are some keen groups and lawyers out here
    Keeping tabs on this crap

  8. 26Limabeans says:

“people that are not formerly gun owners”

So if you have never owned a firearm you are
barred from purchasing one because corona.

Here’s where I get my firearms. If you like to shop for guns, this video is guaranteed to make you drool:

I miss my guns so bad…..
They were very pretty, I even slept with them sometimes…..
Damn Kayak on Lady Bird Lake springing a leak like that.
I’m more worried about the ones that did get a gun and were able to get ammo for them. If they’ve never shot a gun before, now is not the time to have to learn…..

  11. Mason says:

What makes this all worse is the PDs are being ordered to stand down. Some are even publicizing that they are going to do nothing proactive and make no arrests for anything except domestic violence and felonies.

Won’t be long before the turds realize they can get away with pretty much anything.

  12. Mild Bill says:

I was at the local feed store to check if they had restocked the ammo shelves, on Saturday they were empty, I was able to pick up 3 boxes of 50 FMJ .45, limit of 3. I have plenty of, 223 9mm and 12 gauge, bought at new Sig 191l so I need to fill that void, carry Critical Defense in it and my 9mm’s

  13. 5th/77th FA says:

WTF (OVER) indeed. Not that any of this surprises me either. Again, never let a crisis go to waste. Maybe this dumbass sheriff is thinking that the deadbeats go out, try to rob an armed homeowner, gets popped, no longer his problem? LA is Maxie Pad’s district isn’t it? Another way to try and control the sheeple.

I have no need to stock up on cartridges, what with the tragic flood during the hurrinado as I was crossing the quicksand bog. I may buy another cast iron skillet…you know…for squirrels and sech.

  14. Fyrfighter says:

Well, it was just a matter of time before our side-saddle governor followed Cali and issued a “stay at home” order for the whole state.. In his determination to prove to anyone watching that he’s never had an original thought, he didn’t even have a list of “essential” businesses ready to go along with his announcement, and the order is set to take effect at 0600 tomorrow.. what a freaking moron… (and proof that Colorado is now a perfect example of what happens when you give dems control of a once great state…
