Quick update from the DC Tea Party
It is pouring out there. Like biblical flood proportions. And cold.
Given that, the number of folks there is outstanding. And people were flooding in (pun intended) even as I was returning to my office. I don’t know the numbers, but it was enough that we were pushed at least 100 meters from the stage. I was there with Lt Nixon, Superbowl6Romeo, Lilyea and Hooper from Age of Hooper. I saw Medea Benjamin there, but she bolted. For some inexplicable reason she was wearing a hat with pink cardboard affixed to it proclaiming her love for Fox. I assume she was referring to Vincente Fox, but who knows. I think she thought she could just blend in.
Per standard, there were your general assortment of other protestors there lamenting Gitmo. I honestly have no clue what they were doing, but had the standard orange jumpers on with black head things. All very odd.
Jonn will post the pics and stuff later, but wanted to let you know it is looking good down there.

I just got back. I’d estimate the crowd to be somewhere between 200 and 300 people, which is a surprisingly good turn-out given the weather conditions. I ran into Lt. Nixon, Jonn, and Hooper. You missed the counter-protestors, dressed in tuxedos and a woman in strapless black evening gown who were purportedly there to support the rich by opposing tax hikes that helped them exploit the poor. I couldn’t get there in time to get a photo, unfortunately, although I know others with cameras did.
It’s a balmy 57 degrees here at the capitol in ATL. They’ve blocked off Washington Street in front of the capitol building and there’s a veritable fleet of trucks from not only Fox, but other outlets as well. Earlier, there were several news choppers from local affiliates circling the capitol campus. Wish I had a camera or a camera-phone. There are already crowds of people forming up, despite the fact that the event itself isn’t scheduled to kick off until after 6pm and Sean Hannity’s little shindig isn’t until 9pm. With the Braves having a home game here tonight, traffic in and around the capitol and adjacent streets should be FUBAR well in advance of the festivities. Projected turnout is around 10k people…
