Nope. Uh-uh. No way. Never. Give it up.
For some reason, the media is breathless in it’s reporting that Newt Gingrich is contemplating a run at the White House with lines like this;
But could the GOP’s savior instead be a wonkish, twice-divorced throwback to the fiercely partisan Republican revolution?
Absolutely not! I appreciate how he manipulated the Democrats and the system when he was in the minority. I appreciate that he ended 50 years of Democrat rule in Congress with his brilliant and successful Contract With America. I appreciate that he was able to reverse the potentially damaging Clinton Administration’s agenda. I appreciate that he’s a towering intellect in the political party that seems chocked full of intellectuals.
But I don’t trust him. He’s proven that he’s not trustworthy, so there you go. He became what we were fighting against at a critical time and became the symbol of our perceived hypocrisy. Gingrich could no more control his little head than Clinton at a time when we depended on him to do so. If that’s the best we can do, we might as well pack up and leave the country. There’s 48% of the voting public who are more qualified and potentially more honorable than Gingrich in our party.
The last two times we reached back into our past and dredged up old candidates that we thought deserved to run based solely on their support of the Party, we got the 1996 and 2008 elections. I swallowed my tongue and backed Dole and McCain, but Gingrich – nope…never. I guess I disagree with Thomas Sowell for the first time ever.

100% agree. Newt is a brilliant policy man and strategist but he is totally unelectable (at least if he is hoping for my vote).
No thanks, Newt…good ideas, but many times he goes off on a tangent that has me saying “WTF?”
No. Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, the Lt. Col. We need people who are strong on defense, who want to take this country back to the founding fathers basics and away from this politically correct nightmare we’ve become, who will cut spending in the right places, and who can handle the press.
The media picked McCain…until it was time to get serious…
Claymore… the media picked someone they knew they could beat. They’ll be all over Newt.
I like Newt, but I agree, he is unelectable.
Yeah, that was my point…the media “handpicked” their opposition and the Get-Along Gang took it and ran with it. Anyone with a half-functional electrical impulse in their noggin’ knows that while Newt may have a handle on process and policy, the boy is about as appealing as Michael Jackson at a Cub Scout Jamboree.
