Funerals for MSG Harold F. Drews (Korea) and S1c Edward Wasielewski (World War II)
Funerals will be held next week for the following previously missing individuals recently accounted for by DPAA.

Last December, DPAA announced that it had accounted for MSG Harold F. Drews, US Army. MSG Drews was lost in North Korea on 12 December 1950.
MSG Drews will be buried next week – on Wednesday, 19 February – in Saint Charles, Illinois. Regrettably, DPAA does not seem to have posted the specific location and time for his funeral services or interment.
If any TAH readers have the precise location and time for MSG Drews’ funeral services or interment, please post it in comments below. And if any readers are in the area and have the time, here’s an opportunity to give someone lost during the Korean War a proper final send-off.

MSG Harold Floyd Drews:
We may not know the day and time of his Funeral or Burial.
It looks as if the Family may want to stay under the radar and they have also asked the Funeral Home to respect their privacy.
There is a picture of a Harold Drews in this news article that addressed the privacy issue as stated above, but sadly, the picture is of another Harold Drews. His name was Harold Edward “Red” Drews of Danville, Illinois and was given that name because he had Red Hair and Freckles. That Harold Drews was born in 1928 and was Senior in Danville High School, Illinois in 1946 (that is where the picture came from).
MSG Harold Floyd Drews was from Elgin, Illinois and was born in December 1929. He would have graduated from High School around 1948. He joined the Army in 1948.

There is a better picture of MSG Drews at this site. However, he was not born in Indiana.

His Father was Fred William Drews who was born in Germany in 1895. His Mother was Emma. She and Harold were born in Illinois. He was born 2 December 1929, most likely in Kane County, Illinois.
Forever 21.
Rest In Peace, MSG Drews. You Were Never Forgotten. Salute.
There is a Drews Lake in Maine that I have
ice fished with friends. And a Drews Mill
reference to an old nearby saw mill.
Likely nothing to do with MSG Drews but he is
now forever attached to it should the names
come up. And they will.
Rest in peace MSG Drews.
Currently, there is no time designated for the funeral and burial services for and place for S1c Edward Wasielewski.
It does look as if he will be buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA.

Edward’s Father was a Mr. Alex Wasielewski, Villa of St. Felix, Plymouth, Michigan, which is part of Wayne County.
1940 Census showed Alex was a Widow and working as a Farm Hand at the Villa of St Felix.
Rest In Peace, S1c Edward Wasielewski. You Were Never Forgotten. Salute.
Rest in peace, both of them. May the road rise to meet them and the winds be always at their backs.
