Couple arrested after allegedly shooting at four people
By Rachael Thomas
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A man and woman are facing charges after allegedly shooting at four people. The arrest reports from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office say the incident happened Thursday, Feb. 6 just before 10 p.m. in the 5800 block of Nashville Avenue.
Steven Brown, 26, and Katie Brooks, 35, are both facing charges in connection with the incident.
Officials with EBRSO say on Feb. 6, deputies responded after ShotSpotter detected multiple shots fired. The reports say deputies learned that shots had reportedly been fired at an occupied home and an unoccupied vehicle. Deputies say there were four people inside the home, but no one was injured.
Homicide detectives then interviewed the four people in the home, who reportedly say before the shooting, Brown and his girlfriend, Brooks, showed up at the house unannounced and got into a verbal argument with one of the people in the home under the carport of the house. As the argument escalated and became physical, the other people in the house reportedly came outside to see what was going on.
The reports say as they came outside, Brown handed a gun to Brooks, who reportedly brandished it, threatening to shoot the people. At this point, the four people reportedly went back inside the house. EBRSO officials say one of the occupants armed themselves and exchanged gunfire with Brown.
Brown and Brooks then reportedly fled the area in their car.

Dad tackles burglar after hearing daughter scream, holds him at gunpoint until deputies arrive
LINCOLNTON, N.C. (WBTV) – A father and homeowner “turned the tables” on a home invasion suspect and held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened Thursday morning at a home on Philadelphia Church Road. Officials say the homeowner was lying in bed when his wife and daughter returned home from a dentist appointment. A short time later, he heard his daughter scream and rushed to her room where he found an intruder.
The report states the father then “tackled” the alleged home invader – identified as 43-year-old Jason Kane Tillman – and held him at gunpoint until deputies, who were already in the area investigating other break-ins, got to the scene.
Tillman was arrested and charged with four counts of felony breaking and entering and one count each of attempted breaking and entering to a building, larceny from a building, and possession of stolen property.

Security Guard Shoots, Kills Man Outside Popular Modesto Poker Room
By Marissa Perlman
MODESTO (CBS13) — The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office said there was a fatal shooting outside a popular poker room in Modesto that’s not known for violence. The shooting happened in the parking lot of the Empire Sportsmen’s Club, near McHenry and Kiernan Avenues. Deputies have identified the man as Alexander Wever of Ripon.
This started with a man who crashed his car, then reportedly jumped out of the car with a baseball bat. Deputies say he started a fight, prompting the on-scene security staff to fire that fatal shot.
Hearing of the violence outside in the parking lot is shocking to loyal gamer Martym Vanderlinin who visited the spot on his birthday, one day after the fatal shooting.
“I’ve never had any problems here or seen any problems here,” he said.
Deputies responded to the scene after a reported crash on site.
“The subject, Alexander Wever was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead,” said Sgt. Josh Clayton with the Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s offices said the guard who fired the fatal shot is part of a private security firm regulated by the state. Now this investigation will look into whether this shooting was justified.
“A lot of degrees of homicide are justifiable whether it’s self-defense or other circumstances,” said Clayton.

Justifiable, like crashing a car and attacking people with a baseball bat, SGT Clayton? Read the rest here: Sacramento CBS Local
One DRT and three inconvenienced, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, for a Poor Man’s Monday Trifecta. Not a bad start to the work week.

Yup. That is a Ruger New Model Blackhawk, likely in .45 Long Colt caliber, in stainless steel.
I thought it a Super Blackhawk in .44M. It has the SBH hammer.
Usedtabe a dead tipoff was that .44 Supers had unfluted cylinders. Now I believe they make ’em both ways.
No, the Super Blackhawk still has an unfluted cylinder. I’m pretty certain the pictured revolver is a Blackhawk.
Got a better look at a larger pic. .44 mag is being loaded in the chambers. So, maybe a custom Super Blackhawk? It definitely ain’t a factory revolver.
Model 0811 on the Ruger website is a stainless, fluted cylinder Super Blackhawk. Only SB with a fluted cylinder; looks identical.
Yes, that is what it is. It is the Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk in stainless. Price is $783 on GunBroker.com. It is only available in .44 Mag., from what I have seen.
Thanks, I knew to come to the well for the gouge. I recall some of my fellow AWs in my first JAX squadron would use them, I believe in size .44 Mag, to hunt feral hogs in the Florida swamps.
Thought they were crazy sumbitchs, this coming from a guy who’s last command included jumping out of helos.
Yup. Plenty of folks swear by the SBH .44 for Hog hunting.
Just remember that the hog will readily dispute who is going to eat who if you allow yourself to be drawn into that discussion.
Maybe they can be used to hunt the iguanas and other invasive species. Is there a .44 Mag shotshell?
There are.
I would like to get the Ruger in .38/.357 with the extra 9mm conversion cylinder.
Yeppers, one for sure way to get rgr769’s attention FIRST thing of a morning is to show some cowboy looking hand cannon.
Downtown Brown be fixin’ to go uptown slammed for a long time down. Nothing like getting sent up for hard time when you almost (over) your probation. Can’t take the hood out of the rat.
If ole smirky face in NC hadn’t been lucky he’d a found himself broken and entered.
We simply must have sensible bat laws. And ban assault cars. Think of the chill’ren. Dumbass bet against the house. House holding a hand of autoloader. Numbnuts holding a Louisville Slugger. Bitch done struck out.
What’s that old saying, don’t bring a bat to a gunfight. Did the person in Baton Rouge who was inside the house go outside to engage the perps or stayed inside firing through the window? The last person I watched shooting through windows was Hoppalong Cassidy and California trying to hold off a lynch mob until the Sheriff came to the rescue.
