Grandfather shoots grandson in act of self defense in Federal Way
Police say the 25-year-old grandson was under the influence of alcohol and narcotics at the time he assaulted his 72-year-old grandfather Wednesday night.

By Olivia Sullivan
One man is in jail after his grandfather shot him in an act of self defense last night in Federal Way, according to police.

Federal Way police responded to reports of a shooting in the 31400 block of 4th Ave. S. around 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 15, said FWPD Cmdr. Kurt Schwan. The incident was later found to be a case of domestic violence.

The caller, a 72-year-old male, said he shot his 25-year-old grandson.

“The investigation revealed the grandson was under the influence of narcotics and alcohol at the time and began assaulting the grandfather,” Schwan noted.

Detectives determined the incident was a case of self defense, he added, but once provided with the investigation details, the King County Prosecuting Attorneys Office will make the ultimate decision.

BY DORI MONSON SHOW
A Wednesday evening road rage incident in University Place escalated to a shooting that left a man dead.

When cars were backed up along Chambers Creek Road, a windy, two-lane road next to a creek, one DuPont man in a pickup pulled out and began passing the line of cars in the oncoming lane. After another driver honked at him, he allegedly stopped his pickup and got out carrying a gun. The pickup driver pointed the gun at the car behind him.

“That changed the whole dynamic of what was going on,” Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Detective Ed Troyer told KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson.

However, a passenger in that car also had a gun, and pulled that weapon out in apparent self-defense, according to witness reports. After a brief fight, the pickup driver was shot. An off-duty firefighter who happened to be at the scene attempted to revive the man with CPR, but was unsuccessful; the man died at the scene.

Armed cashier at Lima business halts attempted armed robbery

LIMA — An armed cashier at Lima business thwarted an armed robbery attempt Tuesday night.

According to a statement released Wednesday by the Lima Police Department, two males entered Hermies Party Shop on St. Johns Road shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday with pistols drawn. They demanded the cashier give them money from the cash register.

Both males were dressed in black Nike sweatsuits and had their faces covered, although one male ran up the aisle toward the cashier and lifted the white handkerchief covering his face. As he approached, he saw that the cashier was armed. The two men then exited the building running northbound. Nothing was taken during the attempted robbery.

One each DRT and inconvenienced, plus two in the wind. It’ll take a steely-eyed bluffer to pull off a pair for the pot, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, but I’ll bet there are a couple here who can.

The right of the people to keep and bear arms has been recognized by the General Government; but the best security of that right after all is, the military spirit, that taste for martial exercises, which has always distinguished the free citizens of these States….Such men form the best barrier to the liberties of America — Gazette of the United States, October 14, 1789.

I have suffered grievous injury while taunting feral cats with the definition of taunting meaning that I had something they wanted and they wanted it faster than I could give it to them.

Betcha that Lima clerk either has a camera just outside the main door, a mirror aimed to see the front door, or a “straight shot” (hehehe) aisle from the cash register to see the front door.
In any case, he saw them, before they saw him.
