Iranian Tanker Alleged to be Heading to Turkey

The British Royal Navy is sending a third Daring class air-defense destroyer to the Persian Gulf to act as an escort to oil tankers and spook those Iranian speedboat drivers.
Meanwhile, Iran insists that its oil tanker recently bound for Syria is only going to Turkey.

The vessel had been detained for a month in the British overseas territory for allegedly attempting to breach European Union sanctions on Syria.
I will leave it up to my more nautically knowledged Brothers to verify that this particular platform could surely bring the dam dam down upon threat that the Iranians could have. I would think that it would be up to the task.
Some questions. How hard is it to track a super carrier? Why would a super carrier be steaming towards a port with no off loading capability carrying 1.3 million barrels of oil? Other repairs, maybe? Finally, anyone here know of anyone who would believe an effing thing that the Iranian gubmint says? I’ll wait.

Iran is claiming they have already sold the oil on that ship to a mystery buyer. It’ll be interesting how this develops.

Forget the escort ships. Just arm the crew…..HEAVILY…….with simple ROEs, if it approaches your ship, LIGHT IT UP!!!!
US-flag ships carry the armed security in those waters. I’d be surprised if the Iranians still attempted to board any of our ships. The American ship SAFMARINE NGAMI was harassed last year and refused to stop for a boarding, according to officers and crew.
