Damn Life is good. Got lucky last night, a gun pr0n dedicated to me, a trifecta on the FGS, and bragging rights to the FIRST on the MOT, the only FIRST that means nothing but bragging rights.
Maybe I should go buy a Lotto ticket?
The King of Battle rules again…😉
Stay the course for the remainder of the year for:
* goarmybeatnavy
* rtr
* godawgs
All firsts on this site, including the one for the Weekend Open Thread, mean nothing but bragging rights for the one that posted first on the applicable open thread.
Remember, when the keeper of the “Book of Firsts” passes away, and so does his successor, or if this site goes away like our detractors want it to, whoever made first on any of the WOTs, or other OTs, would be trivial. Like specks of dust blown into the wind, out of sight, out of mind, out of memory.
When everybody here passes away, most outside of this community would not even be aware that there was a contest for firsts on this site or each of the winners were…. Unless this site outlives us.
Other than that, you’ve been jotted down on my trusted Veteran Organization calendar as making first this date.
My FIRST jotted down on the trusty Veteran Organization Calendar.
Bragging rights for the MOT are only good for the day.
Bragging rights for the Friday Weekend Open Thread are good for the whole week. Plus you get gloating and lording over privileges. In addition to having it be said and to be written in the Coveted Book of Firsts.
TAH will live forever, if only in the hearts and minds of the people that made it up. And eventually, if not sooner, CW or his prodigy will include the Coveted Book of First in a Nationwide Trivia Contest. Plus as we’ve all come to know, the innerwebz are forever. Therefore, where upon, and thus forth, some researcher, some day, somewhere, will stubble across a reference to the FIRST, will get curious, and research it to find out what it all meant.
BTW: go army beat navy; how ’bout them dawgs; and roll tide roll
Not how it works.
Bragging rights for being first on any open thread is good until the next open thread, of the same category, opens up.
For example, you have bragging rights for MOT FIRST until the next MOT. whoever got “FIRST” for the last Random Open Thread has ROT FIRST bragging rights until the next ROT open thread. Ditto with the Weekend Open Thread, whoever was FIRST for the last WOT has bragging rights until the next WOT.
These are different contests. It just happens that the WOT First contest has been running the longest.
Yes, TAH will live in our hearts and minds, but then, after we all pass away, then what? What we leave, that the Internet remembers, would be superficial to those outside of our community.
I’ve lurked forums, populated by members of Generation Z, and the younger Millennials. Verdict? We, in this community, are dinosaurs.
Not into football, but I am both a Navy and Army veteran.
Party pooper…Bad thebesig..bad!
For the younger generations, it’s not about posting first, but about getting the most likes or up-votes. 😀
Remember, Ceasar, all Glory is fleeting.
Anyone Virginians who need their roof repaired interested in obtaining a free AR-15?
NOT Fake News:
“Virginia Roofing Company Offers Free AR-15 With Roof Installations”:
https://wtvr.com/2019/03/11/virginia-roofing-company-offers-free-ar-15-with-roof-installations/
“In a video posted to Facebook March 6, the president of the Virginia roofing company LMC Exteriors told customers they could receive a free gun upon purchasing roofing services.”
“We are the only contractor in the state of Virginia that’s giving away a free gun after the completion of any roof, siding, or window purchase,” president J. Elmer says as the word “AR-15” flashes over the screen in yellow letters…”
I’m supprised that the anti 2A crowd didn’t raise the “roof” and shingle out the roofing company for making that freebee offer on the AR-15.
Jeff…that was brillant…Thank You!
👏👏👏
Wonder if they and the offer cross state lines? I could use a new roof and a new rifle. Had a bid recently for 9200 some odd USD for galvalume installed. That’s leaving the 1 layer of 3 tab and using furring strips. Another bid was 12K +-, tear off and replace with 3 tab. Neither included a black scarry rifle with a flip up thingie, clips, and a chainsaw bayonet attachment.

Prayers for the family of US Army CPT Antoine Lewis as well as other families who lost their love ones. So heartbreaking:
“US Army Captain Among Eight Americans Killed In Ethiopian Airlines Crash”:
https://www.stripes.com/us-army-captain-among-eight-americans-killed-in-ethiopian-airlines-crash-1.572241
“A 39-year-old Army captain was among the 157 people killed in a plane crash outside the capital of Ethiopia on Sunday.”
“Antoine Lewis, who family say was stationed in Ottawa, Canada, had served in Afghanistan and was one of eight Americans on board the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 en route to Kenya, which crashed shortly after takeoff, Chicago’s ABC 7 News reported…”
Sad. I read he was a missionary, helping out in 3rd world countries.
Fair winds and following seas, Captain Lewis.
Have not seen one reference to this til now. Thanks AnotherPat. We can always count on you bringing us more of the “rest of the story.”
Godspeed and Farewell, US Army Captain Antoine Lewis, God’s Peace be unto your Family. Thank you for your Service to our Country and to Humanity.
Wonder why this connection wasn’t mentioned on the Lame Street Media?…..Oh…Never Mind.
Funnily enough, Larson probably didn’t expect life to imitate art quite so much here – there’s a video game called ‘Fortnite’ where I’ve heard of tutors for it (for high school kids) getting paid more than calculus tutors for the very same kids. One guy gets paid around $6M per year just to play the game while others watch:

Fortnite is the latest craze making money as fast as it can be printed.
It’s a cartoony version of PUBG (Player Unknown Battle Ground) so the pre-teen/young teen crowd has lost their collective shit over the game.
Fortnite is free to play, but has “microtransactions” during the game play. You can play and never spend a nickel or you can spend hundreds buying new looks for your on screen avatar.
These business models are extremely efficient, and are surprisingly well promoted to the right demographic. A year from now Fortnite might be gone and replaced with something new, but it will hundreds of millions before the “free to play” fun runs out.
If their current revenues continue to the end of the year they gross over a couple billion dollars in fiscal 2019…paying someone 6 million to help make that 2 billion return is damn smart money where I’m from.
It is amazing how many “unruly child” calls we get from sucky parents that are linked back to Fortnite. We have even had a couple of runaways and violent outbursts.
I am in the wrong line of work…..
Fortnite will be like Minecraft. It will stay hugely popular until the next big thing comes along. My son likes playing both those games and I have no problem with him playing them once his schoolwork and chores are done.
Here is a cartoon depiction of one of the generations that like to play Fortnite. Perhaps you guys have seen this firsthand:

“10th Mountain Soldier To Be Posthumously Awarded Medal of Honor”:
https://www.army.mil/article/217873?utm_source=mrd&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=mohatkins
“A 10th Mountain Division squad leader credited with saving the lives of three of his Soldiers by throwing himself atop a suicide bomber in Iraq will be posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, the White House announced Tuesday.”
“Staff Sgt. Travis W. Atkins went above and beyond the call of duty on June 1, 2007, while his unit — Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team — conducted route clearance southwest of Baghdad.”
“For his actions, Atkins was initially given the Army’s second-highest award, the Distinguished Service Cross. Now that award has been upgraded to a Medal of Honor.”
“President Donald J. Trump will present the medal to Atkins’ family on March 27.”
“According to his obituary, Atkins was also known to hunt, fish, camp and ride snowmobiles. His first love, though, was his son, Trevor Oliver, who was 11 years old at the time of his father’s death.”
“Atkins was buried June 12, 2007, in his hometown of Bozeman in south-central Montana.”
Thanks for sharing. Again I’m sitting here dumbfounded at the bureaucratic incompetence that makes this a nearly 12 year process! He jumped on a suicide bomber? How many people need to look at that to think that this probably deserves the MoH? Apparently all of them.
One thing the fucking Commies had right. In WW2 Russian Generals touring the lines would award medals on the spot.
Another Warrior having his award increased to The Medal of Honor. Rest in Peace, Warrior. I am humbled by your sacrifice. Army Times Staff Sgt. Travis Atkins will posthumously receive the Medal of Honor on March 27 for his actions while deployed to Iraq in 2007. President Trump is upgrading a fallen soldier’s Distinguished Service Cross to the military’s highest valor award at a White House ceremony on March 27, according to a Tuesday release. Staff Sgt. Travis Atkins’ son Trevor will accept the award on his father’s behalf, the release said. “Staff Sergeant Atkins’ heroic actions, at the cost of his life, saved the lives of three of his teammates,” according to the release, when he tried to thwart a suicide bomb while deployed to Iraq in 2007. Atkins was patrolling near Abu Sarnak with D Company, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, according to his award citation, when his squad detained and began to search a group of suspected insurgents. “However, one insurgent resisted and engaged Staff Sergeant Atkins in hand-to-hand combat,” the citation said. “As Staff Sergeant Atkins attempted to subdue the man, he realized the insurgent was attempting to trigger a suicide vest which he wore under his clothing.” Atkins tackled the bomber, pinning him to the ground and trying to shield his own soldiers from the blast. He was originally posthumously awarded the DSC for his actions. It was Atkins’ second deployment to Iraq, on his second enlistment. He had originally joined the Army in November 2000, getting out in 2003 after one deployment with the 101st Airborne Division, according to the White House release. He returned to active duty to serve his country, or for whatever reason (It really doesn’t matter to me) and he lost his life. But he saved the lives of others in sacrificing his own. Rest in Peace, Warrior. By: Meghann Myers In addition to Atkins’ award, the Army has in recent months approved a dozen upgrades of Silver Stars to Distinguished Service Crosses, the result of a 2016 Global War on Terror valor… Read more »

Raining & Chilly in my AO.
Did manage to get a little repairing done on the private drive that runs through the GB Compound; 2 tons of 3×5 rock and 2 tons of limestone base – shoveled by hand with the help of a passel of grandkids. Only got one injury amongst the workers – when a grandson tossed a 5″ rock, and it bounced out and onto my big toe.
The rain is washing the layer of pine pollen off of everything. The Compound was taking on a distinct yellow tinge.
Stay warm and dry, y’all.

“Police: Woman Pulls Gun In Domino’s After Employees Forget To Include Chicken Wings With Order”
https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2019/03/12/police-woman-pulls-gun-in-dominos-after-employees-forget-to-include-chicken-wings-with-order/
“A customer at a St. Paul Domino’s is accused of pulling a gun on store employees after they neglected to include her chicken wings with her order.”
“Officers say they responded to a report of a woman who pointed a gun at a Domino’s employee Thursday at the store’s 1110 Grand Ave location. The employees say the woman was upset about the food that had been delivered to her house and demanded a refund. When one of the employees called 911, the woman fled in her vehicle…”
I’m sure the police are sitting around thinking ” Wow, if only Dominos had the name and address of the woman they delivered the order to, we just might crack this case”
/sarc off/
Sounds like somebody that expects to get her way “no matter what”, as well as someone who does not know how to interact with others. Two of the many combinations that would increase the risk that someone would have a hard time having a steady job, or a steady income flow. There is a possibility that this woman could have a history of involvement with the law.
Prepped for the worst here, all apparatus chained up, expecting 8-12 inches, 70 mph winds, blizzard warning, highways closing… and it was 60 degrees on monday…
I-76 closed Lochbouie to Nebraska state line, can still see house across street and fence out front so is not real bad yet.
Is this you, Fyrfighter? If so, hang in there!

Probably part of it. They’ve closed I-24, I-25, etc down near Colorado Springs. We attempted to get to a pair of traffic accidents, took over 2 hours, didn’t make it more than a couple miles, because all roads are blocked with stuck vehicles. Waiting on an emergency declaration by the sidesaddle governor at this point. Dispatch is reporting over 700 stranded motorists in our county alone
Thank You for taking care of everyone, Fyrfighter…you have a very challenging job. 700 stranded in your county alone…Wow…
Trees and power poles are starting to come down now.. can’t drive a street without seeing fences down.
And here we go…
It is now starting…
The Washington Post and CNN going after Fox News…the two news media who coincidentally are being sued for the Covington incident.
Unbelievable on The Washington Post Headline. They have YET to apologize what they did to a 16 year old.
Unbelievable about CNN. Have yet to see them publish a story that they are being sued.

“Fox News Prepares To Court Advertisers As Network Grapples With Multiple Scandals”:
https://www.cnn.com/2019/03/12/media/fox-news-advertisers-controversies/index.html
The ComPost and the Communist News Network do not dare apologize now, as they then might as well cut the quarter billion dollar checks.
They farked up, thugged up, and it will cost them -bigly-.
Interesting that this will likely lead to a SCOTUS review of the concept of “public figure” in terms of Libel law.
That prior decision was another “let’s make shit up” moment for the Court, and it has been -grossly- abused by multiple bad- actor media. Those kids are not “public figures” and expressing yourself politically should not open the door to near limitless libel. That right there is a “chilling” of free speech.
Funny how, again and again, those supposedly opposing “fascism” are in fact aping it’s methods and goals. “Shut up because we will destroy you.”

Thumbs UP on your comment.
You nailed it.

The Washington compost link “blanks out”, and shows a window saying that I could continue to read the article with a subscription.
To 2/17th Air Cav, sj and Frankie Cee:
If any of you are reading this, hope all is well.
^this^….They have all been noticeably absent of late. Someone in admin that has their addresses may need to do a welfare check on them. They are not ancient relics by any means, but then again, they are not spring chickens either.
Frankee just posted on Book of Face and appears to be well. He last posted on the TAH Roll Call Jan 10th.
2/17th Air Cav posted on Feb 23rd and
sj posted in the Veteran Punching Window thread today.
I used the “Search” bar that’s at the top of the thread and sorted by Date.
Tanks Chip. I saw the sj post right soon after I posted this comment. I don’t do the fake book in your space face thingie. Sister and daughter do, but don’t think they have a “friend’ request up for those fellows.
Keep the Continent of Insults handy. We are past due for a deployment.
Yeah, no shit. The Continent of Insults®™ trigger finger is getting really itchy.
HAAHAHAHA.
With the way The Continent of Insults®™ is growing, it could end up becoming “The Hemisphere of Insults”.
Thank You, ChipNASA….in a,way, it is as if we are missing family…
Don’t know how I miss sj’s comment today…I’m sorry, sj…still hope you are doing well.
I thought it was a while since I read anything from 2/17th and Frankie…good to know Frankie is still out there…and yes, miss reading his Kyle’s info posting.
Definitely miss comments from 2/17th. I remember a while back, he gave us a warning order that he was going silent…and I thought we would never hear from him again…and then he popped backed up on TAH after an Army beat Navy game.
So again, hope all are doing well…I also wonder about Skippy, os2, 3/17 Air Cav and others. Was a bit worried about 5th/77th FA this morning, but he came thru and it is always great to see Sparks’, Claw’s and Poetrooper’s comments.
Don’t know if Claymore reads TAH anymore.
Thank you, again, ChipNASA.
I don’t know about 2/17 or sj, but I see Frankie posting on the book of faces all the time still.
As of March 13, 2019, Dennis Howard Chevalier, a.k.a. Denny H Chevalier, phony Gulf War veteran, phony veteran, phony C-130 compass call pilot, phony SWAT veteran, phony retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel… That Dennis Howard Chevalier… Still was arrested on February 27, 2018, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He pointed a gun at his ex-wife and son, waved a loaded weapon around and pretended to shoot things, threatened an ex-fiancé with putting a round into her head, and then his arrest for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
One of these days, he’s going to point his gun at someone, like he has done before… And BHANG! They need to take this guy’s weapons away before he shoots someone.
Here is one link to one the details:
http://writer-cubed.blogspot.com/2018/05/dennis-h-chevalier-arrested-for.html
Just google “Dennis Chevalier arrested” to get additional details.
In other news, today is Mercury Day. Happy Mercury Day everybody! The Romans identified Odin as “Mercury”, Odin was also known as Woden; hence, Woden’s Day.
Dennis Chevalier aka Denny Chevalier has been keeping a low profile on the interwebs.
He is probably up to the same cocksuckery and asshattery.
I read his “evidence” Blog (2014).. and thought “What?????”
🤔
An exercise driven by narcissism and control issues. You could tell, by reading his posts, that he wrote some of that while angry. He was reported to have “screamed at the computer”.
He had a post on on his “evidence” blog that involved in an interview that allegedly happened between him and someone else. Based on that exercise, I provided a counter post that involved an interview.
Someone here referred to his blog as the “mangina monologues”, or something similar.

Navy Chief facing court martial for faking cancer to get out of going to work for 2 years!
https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2019/03/12/heres-why-a-navy-cyber-chief-faces-court-martial/
How does anyone fake stomach cancer for two years…and what ever became of his Chain of Command?
If we had a Senior NCO in the Army state he had cancer, we would be involved in his or her medical condition….out of duty, compassion and concern, especially for 2 years.
Thank You for sharing, Mason.
I spent almost 3 months in William Beaumont with testicular cancer in 1992. My fellow NCO’s showed their care and concern by giving me a lovely gift upon my return to duty.
A lugnut from a 5T truck. With a pretty red bow.
I still have it.
Mason – that should be “Navy E-7” instead of Navy Chief. A real deal Navy Chief doesn’t pull shit like that.
You guys can borrow a term from the Army. That chief could be referred to as a “Specialist 7”. This is as opposed to being a chief that is expected to display leadership.
Top Forty and I award myself Honorary First once again.
((((OVER))))
API…Always wonder why in the past, music was referred “The Top 40.”
Why 40?
Because you need a “40” of malt liquor before it sounds good.
Long story short. I was at Enterprise auto rental desk this morning to pick up my ride while the 4-Runner was in the body shop. Counter guy asked for a major credit card and my license. I handed them over. His eyes got pretty big, and asked me for a “Driver’s License” because sure as shit, I had passed him my Utah CCW instead.
Oops. It did expedite my time at Enterprise, and he made sure to tell me I can leave my rental at the body shop for pick up, no problem, buh-by!
Ed, the way you described what happened…I can see it now…the LOOK on his face…
(After Ed left) Rental Guy to Co-Workers “Guys, this guy had a gun that was THIS BIG…”
Rental Guy hanging out with friends or with family tonite “I’m telling you, that Dude was packin…”
😎
“….had a gun that was THIS big…”
“…that Dude was packin…”
“He also had a pistol!”
Oh, no…
Mikey Weinstein is back…
Sorry, but this is getting old. There is probably more information out there that we don’t know about.
“Muslim Soldier Says Her Command Sergeant Major Forced Her To Remove Her Hijab”:
https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2019/03/12/a-muslim-soldier-says-her-command-sergeant-major-forced-her-to-remove-her-hijab/
When I served way back yonder the soldiers, male and female, adapted to the military. I guess over the last few decades, the military had to adapt to the soldier.
Getting worse and worse. The military is NOT a Social Justice experiment. It is to protect the citizens and territory of the Country. GMAFB
5th…you NAILED it when you wrote “I guess over the last few decades, the military had to adapt to the soldier.”
Yep…you are so right…the Military is NOT a Social Justice experiment….but is exactly what it has become.
That Soldier reminds me of a future AOC…a future Nathan Phillips…TROUBLEMAKERS.
Again, I think there may be more to this story…just puzzled that the 4th ID PAO let this thru to the Army Times.
It was like that when I joined the military, during the tail end of the Cold War. It was after the Cold War, during the draw down, that the attitude shifted toward requiring the older folk to adjust to the newer folk rather than requiring the newer folk to adjust to the military.
We tried fighting against that, but we were vilified. We were vilified for subjecting the newcomers to the same standards we were subjected to. Requiring them to adjust to the military, and holding them to the standards and expectations that we were held to, gets us accused of “creating a hostile working environment”.
When I was Army AD in the early nineties I heard war stories of Reenlistment Boards one had to pass in order to be allowed to re-up due to post Cold War drawdowns, the Elder NCOs said it helped them jettison a lot of “Ash and Trash”. Pity they didn’t have something like that to jettison her, i say give her a handshake and a lukewarm cup of watered down soup while she’s being shown out the door and maybe her 1SG will let her keep her Canteen Cup so she has something to get seconds in at some shelter soup line!
Tragically, based on what she was described as doing in the article, if that scenario played out she would tie this into them picking on her due to being Muslim.
I am so pissed off that I didn’t learn about the canteen cup thing until well after retirement!
There’s so much wrong here. She wasn’t targeted for the hijab, she was “targeted” because she wasn’t wearing her hair within regs. She’s also upset because, as a culinary specialist, she was expected to make pork products. Of all the MOSs available, she picks the ONE! where she’ll have to work with pork. Could have literally done anything else.
I read on reddit last week an AF troop being forced by his/her supervisor to remove the ash cross on their forehead as being out of regulation and unprofessional. Wonder if Mikey wants that case? Sounds like a much more solid violation that this whiney gal.
Mason wrote:
“She wasn’t targeted for the hijab, she was “targeted” because she wasn’t wearing her hair within regs. She’s also upset because, as a culinary specialist, she was expected to make pork products.”
EXACTLY!!!!!!
That is why this is getting old…getting out of hand!!!!
Can’t perform in her assigned MOS, bar to re-enlistment, thank her for serving, and out the door. And if she got an enlistment bonus and she’s working outside her primary MOS, show me the money. Pay. It. Back.
My family and I were trying to figure out if she was “exempt” ( sarc) from learning how to make the classic Army Chow Mein, the dish with big chunks of pork in it, when she was at Fort Lee, VA.
Or if she got “exempt” from learning to make sausage and bacon for breakfast.
This one is definitely a problem child….and I’ve had my share of problem Soldiers..but not to this extreme.
If she still has enough time on active duty and does the 3 year active, three years reserve, don’t know how the Army will handle this about reclassying her MOS. We used to do OJT for troubled Soldiers that we had to “change” their MOS, but don’t know if that is still practiced, i.e. will the Army now have to spend $$$ and time and send her to another Army School?
It’s stuff as this that I am so glad I am Retired. I don’t think she would have lasted long under myself and my NCOs. Patience and Leadership can only go so far.
BTW, SFC D: Thank goodness she was not in Disney Drive Territory when you & I were there at the beginning of OEF. I would had sent her back “home”..no time for problem children in that type of AOR.
getridofher
I hear you AP, we had a few “Problem Children” that we got rid of prior to going there ’05-’06, but we had to jettison a few more once we were there including one we threw out via a stint in Mannheim and a BCD.
AP, I honestly believe that time on Disney was one of the best times I ever had in the Army. Does that mean I’m nuts?
Is that tantamount to asking her to remove her panties? Just asking so I can consult my imam and find out the Prophet’s views on this behavior.
It’s looking like Jacob Wohl, the guy who tried to frame Robert Mueller for sexual assault, now seems to be taking a page from the Smollett playbook – creating fake death threats against himself:
https://nypost.com/2019/03/13/jacob-wohl-may-have-faked-death-threat-against-himself/
Even his fellow provocateurs call him dumb.
How could anyone frame the Mule-ear? He is like Christ to you progs, devoid of any sin.
After all this time have you still not learned that his name does not sound like ‘mule’? It’s pronounced ‘mull-er‘, rgr769. But hey, making fun of someone’s name or ears is the sort of thing one does in 4th grade or so, so perhaps phonetics just ain’t your thing yet.
And there’s no hero worship of Mueller here – it’s the investigation that matters, not the man. Though when he was appointed FBI director, he had a 98-0 confirmation vote. Guess he was on double-secret deep state cover then, to fool all those rubes in Congress so handily!
And at the end of the day, I’m happy to accept the results of the investigation.. because in this reality, thorough investigations beat what you heard from your uncle’s friend’s neighbor’s tin-foil wearing conspiracy theorist any day of the week.
You can’t use a confirmation vote count as any indication of how a party feels about a person. Ruth Bader Ginsberg was confirmed 96-to-3.
There’s one side that insists on ideological tests of candidates and one side that decides based on qualifications.

Grrrrrr…we can’t stand guard over all of them, but we’re trying.
That Statue, and all the others like them haven’t done a single thing to harm a single person. Only when there is real teeth in the destruction of monuments laws will this slow down. Or when a perp that is trying it at the wrong location gets….well….you know.
Imagine the hue and cry if it was any other type of monument……Oh wait, forgot about the Peace Monument in the PDRofMd that is so offensive.

Happy π (pi) day TAH.
