Tacoma man shoots son-in-law: ‘I just thought he was going to hurt my daughter’
By: Alexis Krell, The News Tribune
TACOMA, Wash. – A Tacoma man accused of shooting his daughter’s husband as the couple fought has been charged with first-degree assault. The 56-year-old pleaded not guilty at arraignment in Pierce County Superior Court on Tuesday.
According to charging papers:
The father told police he woke early Feb. 15 to find his daughter and son-in-law fighting on the balcony of the apartment near 96th and Steele Streets South where they were all living.
He heard his daughter yelling for her husband to let her go, and he saw the husband throw her cellphone over the railing.
Or rather, her father’s cellphone. The husband had damaged her phone previously, so her father was letting her use his.
The son-in-law went outside to get the phone, at which point the father-in-law locked the apartment door.
The son-in-law banged on the door, and the father-in-law yelled that he would shoot him if he came back inside.
The son-in-law shouted that he just wanted his stuff.
That’s when the father-in-law said the son-in-law kicked in the door and looked like he was going to attack his daughter.

Thieves suspected of stealing rifle flee when man confronts them with pistol
CAPE CORAL
A neighbor with a gun confronted two accused thieves in a residential area of Cape Coral Monday afternoon. It all started when a dad said he spotted the two teenagers in hoodies standing near his northwest Cape Coral home.
“It just caught me off guard when two hooded people at 1 o’clock in the day standing in the bushes talking,” said Jeff, who requested his last name remain anonymous.
Ten minutes later, when Jeff went outside to smoke a cigarette, the sketchy teenagers were holding a rifle.
Police said the rifle was stolen from the home next door. That is when Jeff said he dashed back inside his house and retrieved his pistol.
“I was just watching them the whole time with the gun,” Jeff said. “Then, he looked back right there to see if I still had my gun on him… and I’m like drop the gun or I’m gonna shoot you!”
Jeff’s order spooked the teenagers enough that the pair started running. At one point during their dash to freedom, the teenagers accidentally fired off a shot from the stolen rifle. Moments later, they tossed it into a pepper bush.

The work week, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, began with a respectable zero morts, four indisposed, and none fleeing the scene. For today, anyway.

I am so disappointed! More range time people, more range time!
Nice First Model Dragoon.
That’s my kinda Old School.
That appealed to me as well.
I need to get one of my percussion pistols out and burn some powder…
“took offense” I can relate. I would take offense if I saw some dipsh*t assaulting a female. I would certainly take offense if SnL was assaulting MY baby girl. He woulda took a header off the balcony after the phone. I would also be offended if I observed some dirtbags robbing my neighbors.
Not sure why the Washington popo charged the Papa. I guess the laws are much different there. Maybe you are not allowed to defend yourself against unlawful entry and assault with intent?
We’ll put today’s winnings in the change purse. May have to switch from the 5 for .50 cigars to the 5 for a quarter ones until the payoff improves.
That is a nice FIRST Model Dragoon. Had an opportunity to pick up a matched pair, sequential serial numbers Walker Colts back in ’88 for $300. What became ex wife #2 had found and spent the rat holed cash stash on a new outfit. She never wore it. Still had the price tags on when I jumped over the dog fence and beat feet.
0/4/0, 2 spades, 1 club, 1 heart, and a dragoon showing on the table, it’s a bluff, call the hand as have hand of 4 not showing, is cap and ball revolver and don’t see any caps on cylinder. 5th as you come in the club house drop a couple of the 5 for 50 centers down that small black pipe sticking up out the ground by the door. It is the express delivery to my lower chambers. Send a small vial of gun oil also as need to clean my 2 Dragoons here as well as the long barrel single shot cap and ball rifle.
“two hooded people at 1 o’clock in the day standing in the bushes talking”
A bird in the hand…
Hey, wrong thread but here it goes anyway:
A big shout out to all my Vietnam Veteran brothers and sisters as today marks a historic day where the President of the US travels to Hanoi to meet the dicatator of North Korea.
The symbolism and raw importance is not lost to this Veteran.
Hopefully the President plants his big shoe square up the dictators ass!
Amen! And I hope he has very large feet! I would love to know the menu for what that fat little bastard eats while his people starve!
Pear Kimchi and chocolate cake, whatever the hell kimch is?
“… two hooded people at 1 o’clock in the day standing in the bushes talking,” – priceless! (Sister Mary Grace is ignoring the lack of a properly placed comma.)
Just being “in the bushes” is sufficient to make this business into a comedy of errors.
Is that gun a horse pistol?
Absolutely.
CALL FOR SISTER MARY! SISTER MARY! PLEASE SEE THE “WRITER” OF THE FIRST STORY!
What a hot mess! Who’s the perp, who’s the victim? Who’s the shooter, who’s the shootee? Who’s the “man”, who’s the “onlooker”?
You have a point as I would think the Victim was the woman but never is stated as her being so. Perp, depends on ones perspective, in one instance the perp is the fellow attacking the woman, in another the fellow doing the beating considers that it is the onlooker who attacks him on behalf of the woman. Dang it toxic now you got me confused. I thought I had it all worked out, must be that cousin of Alfred E. Newman who is responsible for the whole mess in the first place
For the benefit of the peeps here who are not gun-nutz, the pistol in the photo is a percussion .44 caliber Colt Dragoon, likely a First Model. From the look of the color-case hardening on the frame and loading lever, it is likely an Italian reproduction rather than a Colt manufactured Second Generation repo.
