Oh, Those Fond Memories

I have been busy cleaning out my work space and my neglected junk, which included a lot of articles I printed out, thinking they’d be lost in the fog of the internet. One of those printouts from 2009 had some interesting stuff I’d like to share with you.
For instance, the then Pres. Obama had this “change we need” thingy in his campaign and promoted himself as anti-war.
Oh, really?
Per the article printout:
– He voted for Bush’s infamous Patriot Act
– He subscribed to the ‘war on terror’ and was committed to its escalation, with an endorsement of the Gulf War as ‘extremely successful’
– He was in favor of building the border wall
– Not opposed to the death penalty
– Supported Israel’s 2006 war on Lebanon and did not oppose what it did in Gaza
– Opposed immediate withdrawal of US troops from Iraq
– Wanted a larger military budget, in addition to 65,000 new Army troops and 27,000 new Marines
– Wanted to increase the 730 US military installations in 100 countries around the world
Clinton had said in April 2007 that she wanted the Iranians to know, if she became President, she would send the US military to attack Iran. She was, at the time, a strong supporter of the war in Afghanistan, the Patriot Act, the retention of military gases in Iraq and voted for all the bills funding that war, as reported by Reuters in 2008, partly to salvage her campaign.
The original article from 2009 by Helen Patterson and Rupen Savoulian does not appear to be online any longer, however, there is a link here to the way bodaprez took to slamming the USA, the country that was full of people dumb enough to elect him to the job of running the most difficult job in the world, a job that he took about as seriously as a blown tire. Let somebody else fix it, right?
When you look back on the events that ran through that administration, including a massive recession that could have been avoided if that financial genius Geithner had not been asleep at the switch, along with idiocies like the disastrous 2012 bankruptcy of Stephenson Clarke Shipping, a company that had built cargo ships for almost 300 years, you may ask how any of us survived. And lest anyone think this is a sour look at the past instead of just a review – well, after bodaprez left the White House, he took to slamming the very people who elected him to office, as in this 2016 article.
