Van Buren County man claims self defense in shooting death
PINE GROVE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Van Buren County man has gone on trial for the shooting death of his ex-wife’s new boyfriend.
It happened in June when Troy Taylor tried to drop off his son at his ex-wife’s house in Gobles and she wasn’t there.
It turned out she was engaged in a sex act with her boyfriend, Tim Henley nearby in his Jeep and was discovered by her daughter.
In the upset and anger that followed, police said Henley began punching the windows in Taylor’s BMW, shattering the driver’s side window.
That’s when Taylor pulled out a hand gun and fired three times at Henley, who would die from the wounds.
Pack your toothbrush, Taylor. The rest of the story may be found here at WKZO Kalamazoo
My favorite local gun emporium has a rather large sign stating, “Nothing in here is worth your life.”
Suspected thief dies trying to steal car jack from homeowner, police chief says
Shooting, vehicle crash occurred in 700 block of Jennings Ave.
By Ben Spicer
SAN ANTONIO – A man attempting to steal a car jack from a homeowner on the city’s South Side has died following a shooting and vehicle crash, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said Tuesday.
The incident occurred just before 6:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Jennings Avenue, which is located not far from Frio City Road and South Zarzamora Street.
McManus said the mechanic had left a jack under a car outside his home when he noticed someone attempting to steal it. That’s when, McManus said, the homeowner confronted the suspect with a gun just before a struggle ensued.
Police said the homeowner tried to hang onto the car before eventually firing several shots.
Authorities say it appears that the suspect may have been hit by the gunfire. The car eventually crashed into a tree the next block over and sustained heavy front-end damage.
Police said the medical examiner will have to determine if the suspect, a man in his 20s, died from the gunshot wounds or the crash.

Go ahead, bang my ex-wife in your Jeep but don’t you lay hands on my BMW! I love my “ultimate driving machine” more than you can ever imagine and I’ll defend her by any means necessary. German engineering demands nothing less!
The latest from WKZO: “Taylor, rather than put his children through another trial has agreed to plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter in exchange for having a second degree murder count and six other charges dropped.” Taylor’s plea came after a mistrial was declared and he faces up to 7 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 4th.
I don’t understand, why would someone be charged for defending themselves? Something in missing in this story.
The individual with the gun appears to have been in a jeep. The other individual started smashing the windows on a BMW…
Work on your reading comprehension. The shooter was in his BMW. The dead guy was unarmed, and he was angry because the daughter of his girlfriend caught them getting it on in his Jeep. So he smashed the window of the BMW and was shot three times by the BMW driver.
Given the death rates of children by “mother’s boyfriend” he may have saved his kids lives.
Preventing vandalism doesn’t rise to “…in fear of death or grievous injury to oneself or others,” Mayhem. Bad shoot, hence my toothbrush remark.
I am guessing the DA feels he instigated the confrontation. Note it was an EX girlfriend, not someone he had any basis legally to be possessive about like a wife. You might get away with the ‘unwritten law’ sometimes (probably calling it a variation on temporary insanity) for a spouse, but stretching it to a girlfriend? An ex-girlfriend? Probably not.
Not if you read the whole article and the update. Taylor was sitting in his BMW when the decedent attacked the driver’s window. Taylor apparently promptly shot him three times. Taylor could have stayed in the car and threatened to shoot the attacker and held him at gunpoint, maybe. He copped a plea to voluntary manslaughter rather than go through another trial where his kids have to testify. Not a good idea to use a gun in what is a fist fight if you are not in fear of imminent death or serious injury, which apparently was the case here.
Gunshot or crash, either way I will give credit where it is due.
Just like Bernath, the method is not not important … it is the net result that counts.
MCPO OUT!
Man all the excitement out there and all I have done is sleep through it course not much happens here. Peers that some time during the night some one was chugging (probably both vehicle and beer) down the street that runs in front of the house here and at the end of the next block forgot to stop for the stop for the stop sign. Good news is he missed the tree and the street sign on the corner but wouldn’t you know it, some dummy built a house right there and the feller managed to enter it with his, from skid marks, dually pickup. Glad I managed to sleep through it. Lesson from today’s stories is no sex allowed in a BMW and never borrow someone’s jack it’ll cost you the price of a well placed bullet. Oh well 2 dirt naps out of 2, see range time helps.
I’m triggered by that pr0n shot of the 1791 assault rifle. A flip up flint thingie toward the rear AND a crosscut saw bayonet attachment.

The snake on the flag crawled out of my final ex-wife’s head.
*facepalm*
…just, damn.
“final ex-”
Famous last words.
Oh; here’s a funny one: three guys are in jail because a letter with detailed instructions about building a bomb to break one of them out of jail went to the wrong person. See https://www.wral.com/alamance-jailbreak-bomb-plot-foiled-by-mis-mailed-letter/18064425/.
