Metairie woman fatally shot Tulane law student husband in self-defense against abuse, JPSO says
BY RAMON ANTONIO VARGAS

A woman fatally shot her husband as he beat her and tried to strangle her in a Metairie home Friday, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said Saturday. Investigators did not book her with a crime after questioning her.

Jefferson Parish Coroner Gerry Cvitanovich identified the slain man as Ian Mastin, 27.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Mastin’s 27-year-old wife called 911 just before 9 p.m. and reported she had shot her husband in their home in the 2900 block of Transcontinental Drive.

Responding deputies found Mastin had been shot multiple times. He died at the scene. Deputies took his wife into custody and brought her to the agency’s detective bureau to be interrogated.

The Sheriff’s Office said the woman cooperated with investigators and “provided a detailed and well-documented history of physical and psychological abuse” at the hands of Mastin.

North Side market employee facing no charges for shooting alleged robber
By Patrick Lohmann

Update- SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The employee at a North Side market is facing no charges for shooting an alleged robber who entered the market Friday evening, according to police.

A man armed with a handgun entered the Alibaba Market at 419 Wolf St., around 7:45 p.m. and tried to rob the store, said police spokesman Sgt. Richard Helterline.

The employee shot the suspect, who fled on foot, police said.

Soon afterward, police found a man on the 600 block of Lemoyne Avenue with gunshot wounds. That’s about a tenth of a mile away from the store.

The alleged, would-be robber was rushed to the hospital and into surgery for his injuries. He was in critical condition but is now in stable condition, according to police.

Police said it doesn’t look like the store employee will be charged, though the investigation is ongoing.

“A woman fatally shot her husband as he beat her”
Now that is truly a feel good story. I don’t even know the woman but good for her having the b….eerr nerve to put an end to the abuse. Once you put your hands on her in anger you are done. Don’t go back. Don’t get mad. Just go away or you will be dead.
And she will find some lucky guy to help spend your money while living in your house as you rot in the dirt.
Should have talked nice to her and brought home flowers. Not just for her but your own damn sake. Dumbass. Dead Dumbass.

Not sure I understand the “not the DA” phrase? Does not seem to be supported by the linked article. Or did I miss something?

A Tulane law school student shot dead before he could bring his physical and psychological abuse to bear in the legal system. Well done Ms. Mastin! Your bravery and shooting skills have made Tulane University, Jefferson Parish, the state of Louisiana, and our nation a safer place. May your recovery from abuse be swift and full.

Beating up women and trying to rob stores are stupid games. Learn that!
