Author: Doug Delony

HOUSTON – A security guard shot a car burglar who allegedly pulled a gun on him late Wednesday, police in southeast Houston say.

The shooting happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Windmill Lakes at Wind Water, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police say multiple suspects were breaking into cars at an apartment complex when a guard spotted them. The guard approached, and that’s when one of the suspects pulled a gun out and pointed it at him.

“…aiming his cane…” No words for that.
State Sen. Kim Ward, ‘red-blooded woman,’ went for gun to ward off intruder
Gideon Bradshaw

Within hours of when she’d been prepared to shoot an alleged intruder if he came through the kitchen door of her mother’s Chartiers Township home, state Sen. Kim Ward was ready to joke about the chain of events that had threatened to erupt in violence.

“At 4:00 AM I woke up to pounding somewhere on the side of the house, followed by frantic bell ringing of the kitchen door bell,” Ward wrote in a “totally true, almost” Facebook post just before 7 a.m. Sunday. “As any red-blooded American woman would do I jumped out of bed (and) grabbed my gun… When I got to the kitchen I knew the situation was under control because my brother was standing by the kitchen door aiming his cane and ready to pounce.”

Soon after the scare at Ward’s mother’s home, Anthony M. Buchanan, 24, of Washington, was arrested at another house nearby. He’d allegedly forced his way into the attached garage, where the homeowner held Buchanan at gunpoint until a township police officer spotted them.

The rest well, you know. Here Observer Reported

“aiming his cane and ready to pounce”

When it gets to the point where I need a cane it will be one with a pistol grip, detachable magazine and a thing that goes up in the back.

You will need an NFA permit.

Might need a local concealed carry permit as well.

My canes that don’t have a pistol grip, detachable magazine, and a scary flip up thingie in the back have a sliding mechanism underneath and a padded dohickey at one end. Little twerp lucky as hell he wasn’t made DRT.
Somebody makes a design similar to the one the brother has, single shot. Also available with internal bayonet attached.

Dwight Schwarz

Wonder if you need a concealed carry permit if you have a cross bow, bow and arrow or spear gun if one was to use one of them in the defense of their home, yes is limited range but then my various rooms here are not over 20 feet in length.

I keep a 930 semiauto by the side door. Short barrel with breach device.
Why pump when you can finger wiggle.

It doesn’t have that “racking” sound to scare away the squirrel.

I lied.

I’m remembering an incident in the Tucson mall parking garage, late 1992 IIRC. Young guy pulled a knife on an elderly gentleman, and demanded he turn over his car. Old guy decided he wasn’t in the mood for that, and commenced to whooping this kid’s ass with his cane. Took 3 cops to pull the old guy off, put the kid in the hospital for an extended stay.
