JOLIET (Sun-Times Media Wire) – Charred human remains found in a barrel last week were identified Saturday as a missing woman from southwest suburban Joliet.
Ashley Tucker, 24, was pronounced dead at 11:08 p.m. Wednesday after Joliet police found her body, which had “severe thermal damage”, in a burned barrel in the 3500 block of South State Street in Lockport Township, according to the Will County coroner’s office.
Police announced last week that they had found a body at the location, but the body wasn’t identified until the coroner’s office used tattoo comparison to confirm it was Tucker’s. She had gone missing Oct. 13 in the Joliet area.
Tucker’s death was being investigated as a homicide by Joliet police, the coroner’s office said.
Police released a statement last week saying a suspect had been arrested in the case. Peter Zabala, 42, was arrested on separate charges, according to Joliet police, who said Zabala’s behavior made him a suspect in the case.
“The investigation has led detectives to believe that Zabala was the last known person to see Ashley Tucker prior to her disappearance, within the vicinity of where some of her items were located,” police said in a statement. “Zabala also exhibited suspicious activity before and after Ashley was reported missing.”
Zabala was charged with violating the sex offender registry, unlawful restraint and resisting an officer, according to court records. He was being held without bond. – Article

FLOSSMOOR, Illinois (Fox 32 News) – A suburban Chicago high school was targeted with a threat on social media this weekend.
Officials at Homewood Flossmoor High School confirmed to Fox 32 News that they have been working with Flossmoor Police since Saturday morning on two social media threats. The threats included images of guns and the poster or posters said they would attack the school on Monday.
As of Saturday night, the suspect was in custody and charges were pending. – Article
Flossmoor High School is one of the quieter spots in northeastern Illinois. Someone may be upset because he’s getting picked on by the other kids. On the other hand, if the suspect is someone not directly connected to the high school, e.g., an adult with a hair up his backside, then the cops should nail him. In my view, schools should start teaching kids about self-defense now, not the ‘duck and cover’ stuff from the 1950s.

I was certain the story out of ‘Bama would make this post. A Dad was exiting a Mickey D’s Saturday as a masked gunman entered and started shooting. Dad pulled his gun and killed the shooter. Dad and son were wounded but are reported to be okay.

Noticed a trend again the last few days on thread and comments. We talked about ladies doing due diligence on boyfriends/wannabes. Yesterday, lady had to kill him to keep him from killing her. Today’s lady, unfortunately, was not so lucky. I hope they burn that POS, literally. We also talked over the weekend on idiots that post potential shitbaggery actions on social media, good way to catch/keep up with them….Good guy with a gun takes out dirtbag with a gun. Love the smell of DRT in the morning. Who was it that said over the weekend that CC didn’t /wouldn’t be a deterrent? That POS won’t walk into another place to start some stuff. Surprised he tried it down here in the South Land. Lots and lots and lots of good ol’ boys carrying—everywhere. The story out of Iceland. Shouldn’t that headline read “Mission Accomplished”? I mean, isn’t it the mission /sworn duty/expectation of Sailors and Marines to drink the bars dry on a Port O Call? Asking for an Air Force relative.

Possibly, but my main reference was on the Aussie FNG, ie; have the popo monitor your arms, protect you, able to walk the streets safely ect ect. It is a damn shame that it has come to this in America. Used to, carrying meant you had a deer rifle or duck gun in the pick up, churches were never locked, all could come in, kneel down and pray, take your kid to the burger joint and have fun. Trick or treating, trust the coach, teacher, most pastors, play/walk in the neighborhood without armed escorts. Sad, ain’t it. Fine job today while the boys were AWOL…. Just goes to show, sometimes it’s best to leave it up to the woman that knows what’s going on, vis, the man in charge. Thanks for what you do! jc nsnr

I noticed that pdoggbiker had a column on slang from the Vietnam war. Is there a difference between then and slang from the Middle Eastern conflicts? I can set up something so that you can all drop in what you have, if you like.
I think having a post of slang used during the Vietnam Conflict years (mostly the 1960s and early 1970s) as well as slang used in the 80s, 90s, and the 21st Century, no matter what Conflict we were involved in, i.e. DS, Grenada, Panama, OEF/OIF, Kosovo, etc.would be interesting.
There are different Generations of TAH commenter here, different age groups, so yes, I personally think it would be a great topic to post.
