Veteran convicted of threatening N.J. congressman
A veteran has been convicted of threatening to kill New Jersey congressman Frank LoBiondo and members of his staff.
Thirty-nine-year-old Joseph Brodie of Millville was convicted in Camden federal court on Wednesday of making threats to officials and employees of the United States.
Prosecutors say Brodie was unhappy with his healthcare treatment from the VA, when he reached out to LoBiondo’s office.
They say he became angry and made the threats when the Congressman’s chief of staff refused to arrange a meeting between him and the lawmaker.
The jury deliberated for approximately six hours before returning the verdict.
I go to one of the best VA facilities in the country. They have been amazing. Going there later today on a 6 month follow up after they cut out parts of my throat to save me from dying. I will have to sit around for a short while and listen to a few other constantly bitch about the free healthcare they are getting and why they should be getting $10,000 a month for their service-related injury that went undocumented for 30 years.
My doctor is 82, an old retired Navy guy that knows how to say STFU. He is the greatest.

Original Medicare is the best deal.
Medicare Advantage is what they want to force everyone into. Don’t fall for it.
You worked for Original Medicare and paid into it. Don’t lose it.

Advantage is essentially a big HMO from what I hear. Rx is part D, I believe. For my situation I signed up for A and B, and took a supplemental policy to cover what they didn’t. I mainly require maintenance meds, so I get those through VA.
David, thanks for the info. I’ll be enrolling pretty soon, but I’m confused by ALL the different plans, offered by a gazzilion different companies. Don’t want to over spend, but don’t want to come up short on care.
Medicare Advantage is where you are in an HMO and cannot go anywhere you like. You go to who they approve. It is less costly dollar wise but you pay in other ways.
Original medicare part A and part B lets you go to who you want to.
Part D is prescription drugs and yes you need it to avoid a penalty in the future. A and B are deducted from you r SS check. D is paid by you. I use Walmart plan D (Humana) about $180 per year.
Supplemental plans pay the 20 percent that Medicare does not cover. They are offered by various companies and are State regulated.
Plans A is cheapest.
Plan B covers deductibles.
Plan F covers everything and I never see a bill. About $2700 per year.
Do not confuse Medicare Parts with supplemental plans. Apples and Oranges.

I went to I hate to say this Part B AARP/United healthcare plan F back in 2010 when I hit the big 65. I had a few surgeries/procedures that I paid out of pocket like to the Anetheologists assistants who were not connected to the hospital and that last Epistaxis Embolization procedure I just had last July 20th got me a bill in the mail for $11 bucks in change. My RX plan is part D Medicare and I have the RX Saving plan which is not bad. Any Doc I choose and no co- payments. My agent at the time said that I had to use AARPUnited Health to get plan F. AARP is anti 2A so hence my above I hate to say this statement.
I hear ya on AARP. Their price is good though. About the same as Anthem Blue Cross in Maine.
My total hip replacement cost me zero.
No copay or anything else. Nada. Zip.
I chose the hospital and doctor.
I chose the home care outfit and physical therapist.
Not all companies offer plan F but there is a high deductible plan F that may be available in some states.
A friend has plan N and likes it but has copays and other aggravating things to pay.

I love grungy old docs that tell it like it is. And, yes, I can’t sit 10 minutes in the waiting room w/o hearing the bitching and moaning from veterans who, in 1971, had a sore throat that was ‘cured’ with a Z Pack. Now, 47 years later, he has cancer of the throat and is pissed they aren’t getting the $3100 a month a 100% guy gets. The same guy has a pack of camels in his shirt pocket. Ask him about that and it’s none of my business. All the while he’s hacking out his lungs and reeks of smoke. Or the guy who is there as a walk in and has been waiting three hours and wonder why. I flat out tell them walk in patients are made to wait a long time, otherwise the lobby would be full with walk in patients. Boy, that pisses them off. I’ll let you in on something I learned in 42 years in medicine, 11 of those years with the VA. The louder you complain, the longer you will wait. The staff expects to be treated with respect, and getting up their ass every 15 minutes ain’t gonna work for you. For sure you will not be seen before the patient with a scheduled appointment. Don’t get me wrong. It is the desire of all health care facilities to see patients and get them out the door ASAP. But walk ins are gonna wait.
Today I have an appointment in the dental clinic. I made the appointment the last week of June. 3 1/2 months. That’s how far behind the dental clinic is. I’m going to ask for a consult to a civilian dentist. They have done that for me several times. I am extremely grateful for the care I receive. My only complaint with the VA is the ‘Great Wall of apathy’ on the part of the front line clerks. I am blessed.
I don’t go to the VA for much except my flu shot, but they do have a walk-in clinic for what would be considered minor things, like flu shots and asking to enroll in VA health care – that sort of thing. They also have an emergency room, which I hope I never have to use, not be cause it’s no good, but because if it’s that bad — eeeww!

Threatening a prominent politician is guaranteed to get your ass in the jackpot, where is belongs. There is no room for threats on either side. That fact seems lost on the flag waving fruitcakes.
Cheif, agree that threats will get you the opposite of what you want. But it has become standard these days for people to make threats to kill, maim or otherwise harrass someone. You see it all the time. I am glad this guy got a nice little present. We need to start doing this more, especially where people threaten the preseident, his staff and congress critters.

No, not yet. It takes a while for some folks to reach a tipping point, but when they do, you’re going to be well and truly fucked.
The louder they shout and scream, and the more violent they become toward people they don’t know, the more likely it is that someone wavering on the left/right decision in voting will go to the polls and vote toward the conservative side.
That is not to say that some Democrats are included in these heinous acts or approve of them when they should not. But it does make them all look bad for not demanding an end to this uncivilized behavior.
This is crazy, not only has LoBiondo always assisted veterans, but I would not have had a retirement VA physical before I got out had I not contacted his office. Unfortunately, the crazy guy is from my hometown also. Mike Trout is a better representation of someone from the town I grew up in.
Husband is a AF retiree w/ a 20% disability; he goes to the VA in Omaha for hearing & agent orange. He speaks very highly of the service & care.

After I got my VA ID I only went 1 time after they sent me a mailer for a free flu shot. Then they mailed me a bill for $35.
That’s my only complaint about my local VA Hospital.
But Governor Moonbeam of Mexifornia can call for harm to the President and not a damned thing is done.
