Thursdays Are For Cooking….
It is definitely the end of summer, and all this summer stuff that we take for granted is going be replaced by the noise of crazy people crashing through underbrush on their hasty path to get a goose for the dinner table or a buck for the antlers.
Okay, I like turkey, but in the fall, I have no interest at all in going out and tangling with an overexcited turkey cock who thinks you’re another turkey cock chasing his hens and wants to rip you a new one.
I think it’s best to let all you shoot-shoot-bang-bang people have a go at what makes you happiest: shoot the peasants, hogs, turkeys, ducks, bucks, pheasants, or geese, but you’d better make sure they are ready for the oven or the firepit before you show up at my place. I am not gutting those things for you.
It is, after all, open peasant season, now that midterm elections are rolling around. I fully expect to see a few heads on platters with apples stuck into those choppers, or even bits of wholesome roadkill when available. It’s entirely possible that some people whose agendas are not met may have to eat crow.
Enjoy the day and the coming weekend, and good hunting to you!

Eating Crow?
I certainly hope so. I’ve avoided the hearings this morning but all the libtards where I work are dancing around like ballerina’s doing Swan Lake about how the Republicans are going down, Kavannaugh is going down, Blue Wave and taking the House and Senate back and Elizabeth Warren is going to be President in 2020 and then she’s going to nominate Hillary and JEF Obama to the Supreme Court and everything will be honkey dorey.
I’m just sitting here being silent and watching.
I can’t wait until their fantasy continues to crash and burn.
*crosses fingers*
I hear that they eat a lot of microwave meals, too. It must have some side effect on them.
I, too, hope that their are creating their own crash and burn, but in the meantime, there is nothing like comfort food to consume while waiting. Mac and cheese with bacon is good for this time of year, you know.
McConnell said, in the local paper this morning, that he is pushing the nomination through. Period.
The tapes running under Fox news had ford saying she could not remember who gave her the poly test a little while ago but she claims she remembers shit that happened 30+ years ago. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I’ve been watching all morning. Let those fools dance.. If they don’t nominate Kavanaugh, then this shit is rigged fo sho… His statement was pretty powerful to say the least.
Funny you should say that, I just bought bacon last night for that exact purpose.
You need to climb out of my skull!!!
*smooch*
Mince some smoked ham in the cuisinart thingy to add to the cheese sauce, too. And remember to add some chopped onions, unless you’re allergic to onions….
And garlic. Shit,
Ex, duck and goose season is on here in MN. I usually breast out the honkers, but at least once every fall I’ll pluck one (about a 1/2 hour job) to roast. The wife makes a stuffing for it and in the oven it goes. Most people make the mistake of over cooking fowl.
If it is fowl, I cook it in a broth of like kind. Seems to work, too.
Maple soy glazed salmon. Or skinless, boneless chicken. Or tuna / sword fish steak. Or pork tender loin, or…
2 tablespoons Soy sauce
2 cloves Garlic ; minced
0.25 cup maple syrup
0.25 teaspoon garlic salt
0.25 teaspoon ginger powder
black pepper ; to taste
1 pound of whatever floats your boat
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a mixing bowl, combine the maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic, garlic salt, ginger and pepper.
Place ? in a shallow glass baking dish, and coat with the soy maple syrup mixture. Cover the dish, and marinate in the refrigerator 30 minutes (an hour for pork), rotating several times for even coating.
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven, and bake ? uncovered 20 minutes, or until fish flakes and pork / chicken reach 160 degrees internal.
Or
Marinade as above, and pan sear until done.
Or
Marinade as above and grill until done.
Rice and a mixed veg stir fry for sides.
Should serve four normal people, YMMV.
That will serve, but what were you planning to have? Shredded wheat? (Giggle)
Ex; Did you hear about the new bird cereal, it’s called “Shredded Tweet”. How about the guy goes to the diner and asks for Lamb Chops Augratin to go so the waitress yells to the chef “Cheese it, The Chops”
OK Jeff,
You deserve this.
Am getting hungry reading this. Got the Wendy’s and Burger King coupons 3 days ago so maybe I’ll chow down there tonight for some bennies.
I was thinking that a bucket of KFC, with the crispy coating, may be impossible to eat all at once by one person, but by removing the crispy coating and saving the meat on the bones, there is plenty of leftover cooked chicken for a bodacious, flavorful pot of chicken soup.
That’s one way to go hunting. Another is to take the fake service dog to Walmart or the other chains and start sniffing around the shelves for things like canned chicken, deviled ham, chipped beef, Spam of all kinds, and then gathering the booty and plunder and heading home before some guilt-ridden civilian says ‘thank you for your ceviche’.
But I find that Aldi has chicken strips cut and ready to cook, so I buy those, cook them, use them for all sorts of things like casseroles and soups. That’s my version of hunting for fowl.
Ex-PH2, got a great deal on boneless chicken breasts from Piggly Wiggly back about two weeks ago. Bulk packaged (4-5 lbs.) at a cost of 49 cents a pound. Yup, 49 CENTS @ LB.!! Three package limit.
Put them up using my “suck machine” (Foodsaver) and have made a big pot of chicken noodle soup & a casserole so far.
That IS how it’s done, Skyjumper!
I buy the bulk packs, too, wrap the B/S chicken, put the pieces in ziploc bags and freeze them right away. Thaw on a thawing plate (about 20 – 30 minutes total) and fire up the stove.
Did I read this right Ex, it’s soon to be open season on congress critters? Don’t toy with me Woman. I’m a grown (chronologically) man. Would like to see a bunch of congress critter heads on platters, especially after they have been stuffed with crow pie. Wouldn’t waste an apple in their mouths though, got cookies/pies to bake and ice cream to put on top of said pies. Is it still illegal to shoot them over a baited field? Places like a Soro’s sponsored fund raiser or a voter registration drive in the cemetery? Asking for a friend. As you may recall. I lost my weapons in that tragic Her a cane, and subsequent wind/flooding, Irma. Having to do my hunting in the K Roger Store of late. Did get a deal on a rump ed roastable beast, ’bout a 6 pounder. Gonna poke him liberally with some garlicky sprouts, a ring of onyuns, healthy sprinkling of road kill grill rub, tad of salt and some black pepper. Just a taste of cayeanne and enough water to float some taters and carrots. He’ll baste in the crocked pot till sometime Friday evening, on low; have a few cat headed biscuits for sopping purposes, apple cinnamon cookies under vanilla bean ice cream. We’re having a cold snap in my AO, only supposed to get up to 89 (feel like 96). Low this morning was 69. We missed all of Flossie’s rain.
The midterm elections are coming up in a few weeks. You get your heine off the couch and go vote or suffer the consequences that come of neglecting your civic duty.
Think of it as The Hunt By the Warthogs From Hell.
Ain’t missed a vote since my 1st vote in ’72. National that year was absentee ballot. Have driven for 100s of miles at great expense on several occasions to get back to polling place. Have brow beat comrades-in-arms, friends, neighbors, family members, co-workers and folk on the street to do so. I feel this midterm is just as important if not more so than the ’16 vote. Again, this may be our last great chance to keep turning America back, away from the Dark Side. Resistance is not futile. I refuse to be assimilated. Forced myself to watch the Judge Kav witch hunt after Gunsmoke. It was truly sickening and pathetic to watch the hypocritical, back stabbing, low life, parasites pound away in such an inane attempt to derail this nomination. Saddest part is they are not only against him because Trumpster picked him, they are concerned about the whole Roe V Wade thing. I guess 60 millions of babies murdered ain’t quite enough. MHO…YMMV
Closer to Thanksgiving, I might turn lose of my famous crab meat stuffing for the traditional turkey dinner. All my wife’s sisters beg me for the recipie but I won’t give it up. I also throw in some smoked oysters for flavor. I tell you, this stuffing is so good it will make you slap your mama!! I think even Ex would be proud of me!
Now, you’re just teasing the hungry souls waiting for that, Willy.
You can tell us and we wont tell a soul
Fuck DICK Blumenthal! Just had to post that somewhere so I figured I would just do it here.
He is a lying SOS and a valor thief.
Yeah that POS had his fat happy lying COCKSUCKER face all over the tube today. Made my stomach churn just to see that lying POS Valor Thief Dick (head) Blumenthal.
And he wants to sit there and smugly, arrogantly talk down to Judge Kavanaugh from on high. I was so hoping Judge K would call out Blum-dick-en-all-his-orifices for his stolen valor.
Is he ever going to stop greasing his hair until it looks like bad wig?
I wish he would grease it with the sulfuric acid oozing out of Feinstein’s soul….
