Holder: Obama wants to reinstate the AWB

| February 26, 2009

Wonder why gun sales has increased in your neighborhood? That’s because folks saw the handwriting on the wall when the Obama Administration won their election in November;

“As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons,” [Attorney General Eric] Holder told reporters.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

“I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum.” Holder said at a news conference on the arrest of more than 700 people in a drug enforcement crackdown on Mexican drug cartels operating in the U.S.

That makes sense, doesn’t it? Ban assault weapon sales on our own citizens to help another country to deal with crime they created themselves by neglecting their own laws and encouraging corruption for decades.

Mexican government officials have complained that the availability of sophisticated guns from the United States have emboldened drug traffickers to fight over access routes into the U.S.

That’s funny, we’ve been complaining about the Mexican government’s inattention to the invasion from the South as well as their facilitation of the drug trade, but as soon as the Mexicans complain about something that is enumerated in our own Constitution, it’s time for a change to our rights. Of course we know that the Obama Administration was only looking for an excuse to take our rights away and this one is convenient enough.

Holder said that Obama made it clear that he had mentioned an assault weapon ban in the campaign. Well that depends on who was talking to at the time. Last September, after he called Pennsylvanians God and Gun clingers, he soothed them with the promise he wasn’t going to take their guns away.

A year before that, he told churchgoers in Chicago that planned to reinstate the AWB. So, yeah, he said he would, but before the election he also said he wouldn’t. But here we are, getting the AWB back because of some nebulous gun deals with Mexican criminals.

Does anyone really believe that the drug cartels are purchasing the 40mm M-203 grenade launchers and ammo from retail gun and ammo shops? What about the hand grenades they’re also using? AG Holders argument that such is occuring is pure BS. His announcement was preluded (colluded) by an MSNBC agenda driven story concerning the border violence here:

This attempt to take our arms is going to be a long and continious fight. Stock up on beans and bullets folks.

Launchers, maybe. They aren’t themselves illegal, you can find them all over the place. They aren’t “common” but they are “available”. In most states they are legal for firing flares and such.

But 40mm grenades? those are a little less common, and a little more expensive.

John, The available “Launchers” you mention are 39mm used for flares and such and cannot be used for 40mm HE\AP rounds.And in conclusion,I realize it’s a bit cliche, but still true…FEAR THE GOVERNMENT THAT FEARS YOUR GUNS!!!!

Nothing like a little embellishment on AG Holders behalf to help the Chosen One accomplish his mission.
