Nikki Haley Responds to Anonymous’s Op-ed
Nikki Haley, whom we all know as an outspoken representative of the United States at the UN, one who neither minces words nor speaks in unclear euphemisms, has written a response to the op-ed piece penned by ‘Anonymous’ earlier this week for the New York Times.
Nikki Haley is the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
We have enough issues to deal with in the world, so it’s unfortunate to have to take time to write this, but I feel compelled to address the claims in the anonymous “resistance” op-ed published this week in the New York Times. The author might think he or she is doing a service to the country. I strongly disagree. What this “senior official in the Trump administration” has done, and is apparently intent on continuing to do, is a serious disservice — not just to the president but to the country.
I, too, am a senior Trump administration official. I proudly serve in this administration, and I enthusiastically support most of its decisions and the direction it is taking the country. But I don’t agree with the president on everything. When there is disagreement, there is a right way and a wrong way to address it. I pick up the phone and call him or meet with him in person.
Like my colleagues in the Cabinet and on the National Security Council, I have very open access to the president. He does not shut out his advisers, and he does not demand that everyone agree with him. I can talk to him most any time, and I frequently do. If I disagree with something and believe it is important enough to raise with the president, I do it. And he listens. Sometimes he changes course, sometimes he doesn’t. That’s the way the system should work. And the American people should be comfortable knowing that’s the way the system does work in this administration.
[These officials have denied writing the Trump ‘resistance’ op-ed]
Dissent is as American as apple pie. If you don’t like this president, you are free to say so, and people do that quite frequently and loudly. But in the spirit of civility that the anonymous author claims to support, every American should want to see this administration succeed. If it does, it’s a win for the American people.
The entire article is here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/when-i-challenge-the-president-i-do-it-directly-my-anonymous-colleague-should-have-too/2018/09/07/d453eaf6-b2ae-11e8-9a6a-565d92a3585d_story.html?utm_term=.0220af6593c3
The final paragraph is as direct as one can get:
To Mr. or Ms. Anonymous, I say: Step up and help the administration do great things for the country. If you disagree with some policies, make your case directly to the president. If that doesn’t work, and you are truly bothered by the direction of the administration, then resign on principle. There is no shame in that. But do not stay in your position and secretly undermine the president and the rest of our team. It is cowardly, it is anti-democratic, and it is a disservice to our country.
——Finis——
I will add here that I continue to believe the so-called op-ed to be concocted by someone at the New York Times, based on the coincidental timing of its release following the review of Woodward’s non-fiction novel inaptly titled “Fear”. I believe, and will stand by my belief, that these are simply attempts to cast aspersions on a U.S. President who has succeeded at bringing this country back to its status as an international leader, rather than let it continue to slide into oblivion.
If, as Ms. Haley indicates may be, it is an Administration official, then s/he should have enough cojones to step up and say “I did that.” Otherwise, I will continue to believe this is just another of the nonsensical schoolyard tricks by those whose disappointment at losing the 2016 election is painfully obvious.
I may not agree with what “Anonymous” says but I will certainly defend to his right to say it. (Rev. version of Evelyn Beatrice Hall’s aphorism in her 1960 biography of Voltaire.) It is past time s/he stepped forward.

It seems like there is no end to the Herr Obama/the late John Mcain shadow govt slow moving coup.
The individual who wrote it was most likely appointed by Trump himself. What does that have to do with Obama or McCain?
Isn’t obama heading the resistance with appointees that are maybe unhappy with the way Trump is running things.
The “individual who wrote it” most likely doesn’t, and never has, worked in the White House.
You are welcome to your opinion and you are free to base it upon anything you wish. Far be it from any of us to try to change your mind, or address your emotional response to whatever it is that you react to.
But, what evidence do you have that “The individual who wrote it was most likely appointed by Trump himself?” You have some sort of inside scoop on this? The reality is that we lowly peons who hang around here have no idea who penned it.
My personal best guess is that it was someone, anyone, other than whatever it claimed to be. So it is highly unlikely that it even knows Mr. Trump much less was appointed by him. Assuming it actually had access to the president’s desk, just how many people do? More likely than being one of those, it may have access to someone else’s desk who had docs going to the president. Maybe.
Or it could all be a lie. Every bit or significant parts of it.
I guess I should’ve written it with some caveats, but it has been attributed to a senior administration official. It’s merely an educated guess that anyone who would be identified as such was most likely appointed to the job by Trump. I’d like to think that the NYT wouldn’t make up the person out of whole cloth, because they’d be out of business if they did that and it was found out. I think we’ve all had problems with every administration, but I find it hard to piece together the op-ed having anything to do with Obama or McCain.
“Attributed” ? By the author.
Not by anyone else. How could they? It’s anonymous.
Changes your view?
There are several things you should consider, D.
1 – the timing of this op-ed publication coincided closely with the rather slavering review by the NYT of Bob Woodward’s book about the Trump White House.
In my view, that was TOO coincidental.
2 – If there were a “Resistance”, do you really think Trump wouldn’t know about it?
3 – Self-labeling by the author as “one of the Resistance” is coy and self-aggrandizing. Who in the White House has behaved in that manner? It is the mannerism of a teenager, not an adult.
4 – The part about ‘we are here to bring down the Trump administration’ part is ridiculous. There has been more than enough time to have done that without announcing it, and yet, despite all the shenanigans including the appearance of a money-grubbing porn actress, Trump is still in The Seat In The Oval Office. Therefore, saying ‘here to bring down Trump’ is the mark of someone too immature to be able to do what s/he is boasting of doing. As with Booper’s Spartacus non-moment during the Kavanaugh hearings, if you’re going to have this happen, you don’t announce it.
5 – If you’re really up to something, why would you announce it to the world and alert the very person you consider your enemy? Ask anyone planning a battle: worst tactic ever!!!
Therefore, D, this is either a “plant” or the entire thing is another fictitious and laughable poke at Trump, who seems to be impervious to everything including these verbal bullets.
It is written in a rather prissy manner, also, which confirms that it is not written by a mature adult.
This is why I think it was cooked up at the NYT’s editorial level and maybe even written by the dorkwad who owns the NYT now.
The NYT and all of the other rags are utter nonsense and devices of the opposition. They are not in danger of going out of business because vacuous minded meat puppets read the pulp fiction.
Look no further than a basic principle of warfare: C2W. Destroy, degrade or control Command and Coummunications.
You should absolutely not rely on any single source of information in the media. Unfortunately you have to sift thru all the garbage and that is time consuming.
I don’t believe anonymous is even in the govt..I think its some a.h. on the NYT trying to undermine the President…if it IS someone in govt…he or she is a cowardly son of a bitch, doesn’t have the guts to come forward with its complaint…it should not even be honored with a response, they can go to hell!
All the anonymous op-ed proved is that Trump has done nothing wrong AND proves that the deep state is real!
The fake news media can’t see that for what it is though because they want to believe that Trump is mentally unstable, despite ample evidence to the contrary.
NO PRESIDENT does a clean sweep of all the senior officials in his/her administration. NONE. There were Republican appointees under the Obama administration, Obama appointees now, not to mention the lifers who are senior enough to set policy but not be replaced every four years – the Brits call those sorts ‘mandarins’ and they are what keeps a government ticking over during transitions. They are necessary for the efficient functioning of the system: but if one or more are undermining the system because their widdle feelings are hurt and they have emotional boo-boos, they have only three courses of acceptable action. 1) Resign for principle – as Ms. Haley says, an honorable course to follow. 2) Suck it up and do your damn job – God knows probably everyone on this forum has done the same for leaders they disagreed with. 3) Stay around, do your job poorly because of your boo-boos – and be fired, not retired, for cause. You have a job – do it, damnit!
Right on!!
Respectfully disagree D. Right now, as the post indicated, no one is claiming authorship. It could have been Miss Punkin Squawky Pants , written because the WH wine cellar was out of a good white Kittenfel. If and when the coward comes forward then we will know. Many a staff person that works at the WH is not necessarily hired personally by the POTUS. He may pick the main people, but they will bring in their own staff. It could also be a figment of the newpaper’s op-ed people imagination too. Google up the term yellow journalism. You may need and get a history lesson. There are also long term WH employees that are not changed out each time a new POTUS and 1st Family move in. I repeat a previous post; “When you work for a man, for Heavens Sake work for HIM. If you must disparage, disagree, or cannot get along, then you should resign your position and when no longer drawing your pay, you may disparage to your hearts’ content. You may recall, the officers that used to draw the King’s Shilling, resigned their positions before joining the Continental Army. Just as many officers of the US Army resigned their position to join the Confederate Army. My personal opinion is that the author of this piece is either a backstabbing, low life, deep state implant POS, or an imagination driven yellow journalist. YMMV
Until proven otherwise, I’m going with someone at the NYT, maybe even the individual who owns it.

Tell it!!
EX; what kind of grass is that next to the kitty and bottle of wine?
It’s the standard kitty grass, probably oats or something similar. Might have been wheat, too.
My God, Nikki Haley is a badass. A clear, concise, holds-no-punches attitude and an intelligent, principled speaker. I would not be surprised to see her name on the ticket for the top spot in 2024.
And I would vote for her. I would even volunteer to take the position of the first ‘first gentleman’ – or whatever slick Willy would have been called if Hildebeast got in.
I love this country so much, I would make that sacrifice. In a heartbeat.
Your sacrifice, although enviable, would not be near the sacrifice Slick would have had to make if the BITCH hildebeast got in.
Slick would have had to… you know….. get in.
If looks could maim…
…whoever pissed her off left in a box.
She is a gorgeous woman, even when she’s pissed off.
Sorry to see we did not post the September 11, 2001 Timeline.
MCPO OUT!
Who can say who this ‘Deep State’ individual is? What I’m interested in is how all these people, some carrying recording devices into every meeting, get by security? Why does anyone in the Trump administration talk to Woodward? After all, his stock in trade is bringing down administrations,if he can. If you agree you talked to Woodward, you’re too f…ing stupid to work for Trump if you thought your words were ‘helpful’.
Nikki Haley is the bomb!
As an aside, that gato looks seriously disgruntled. No more wine?
I agree.
