No, Trump is Not Going Away

| September 11, 2018

Any of that talk of impeachment still wandering through the hallowed halls of the Congress?

The author of the National Review article gives us good, hard, solid reasons for the unlikely possibility that Trump will face impeachment charges, despite the howling in the outer darkness, and why such a move would be distinctly unwise. I think he spares no one, including Trump, for faults that are public knowledge,

For example, this paragraph makes Trump’s popularity clear:  “Had Trump misled his base and not fulfilled his campaign promises, he would have little popular support. Had he tanked the economy and started a war, he would be polling in the 20s rather than the mid to lower 40s.“

https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/08/donald-trump-impeachment-unlikely-unwise/

I’ve said this before, as have others, including the author of the article:  “The startling fact is that a so-called buffoonish real-estate developer hit upon a calculus to restore robust economic growth in a way that all the degreed experts of the prior (Obama) administration had not.”

Yesterday, I referred to the sluggish return of the markets under Obama’s administration as an anemic 1404.84 average per year over a period of eight years. I also said that once the 2016 election results were announced and confirmed, the markets rose rapidly from a DJIA 18,847.63 on 11/7/2016, to an all-time high of 26,616,71 on 1/22/2018, a difference of 7,769.11 points in about 14 months. That is not a fluke. The markets reflect the economy and both continue to stabilize and improve under Trump. The so-called blue collar sector views Trump as a positive response to what had become an economy that was, at best, sluggish and weak under bodaprez.

The DJIA reached another high 26,124.57 on 8/29/18 and maintains a steady growth rate. There may be a ceiling to the markets, but it has not been speculated on thus far.

Politifact tried to claim that Obama had the better record by comparing those eight years of his slacker, self-involved governance to Trump’s 22 months. This is a false comparison and does not work. You cannot legitimately compare 22 months in office with 8 years, and expect any reaction other than laughter at this attitude. And furthermore, employment opportunities during Obama’s administration were sluggish at best, nearly nonexistent at their worst. Under Trump, employment has picked up graphically, as the author indicates. Unemployment is at an anemic low now of 3.9% since April and may go lower. During the Obama administration, it was as high as 10% in 2009, a level that stirred mutterings of another Great Depression.  The chart to refer to is at this link: https://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000

I have to add here that Franklin Roosevelt started the government sponsored work programs CCC, WPA, and PWA, as a response to the demands of the War Bond veterans who were desperate for money. He put them to work at a time when people needed jobs more than anything else. The CCC workers at the people who put the national parks into place. You can thank them for Yellowstone, Yosemite, and various other national parks that might be housing developments now.

The National Review article is worth your time and full attention. The author includes the Never Trumpers, who were ostensibly conservatives who didn’t like Trump, although I view them not as conservatives but as Mugwumps (look that up) who would approve of Gerrymandering if it suited their needs.

Mad Max disagrees.

Maxine Waters goes on Trump ‘impeachment’ tear, vows to ‘get him’

Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters escalated her rhetorical assault on President Trump over the weekend – vowing to “get him” and repeating the word “impeachment” over and over.

Waters, who took heat earlier this year for urging her supporters to confront Trump administration officials in public, told a group gathered in Los Angeles that some Democratic leaders have asked her to stop talking about impeaching Trump.

“There’s a difference in how some of our leadership talk about how we should handle all of this,” Water said. “They say, ‘Maxine, please don’t say impeachment anymore.’”

“And when they say that, I say ‘impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, impeachment.’”

In video posted by The American Mirror, Waters said she wakes up in the middle of the night and “all I can think about is I’m going to get him,” in reference to Trump.

The California congresswoman, who was accepting an award from the Stonewall Young Democrats on Saturday, has been one of the most outspoken congressional Democrats calling for impeachment. While many in party leadership have shied away from those demands, Waters and her allies are emboldened by the prospect of Democrats retaking the House in the midterms and, potentially, using a majority to launch impeachment proceedings.

Maxine Waters is a bloviated twatwaffle.

akpual

And racist.

Mason

And corrupt as a Cook County Daly.

Don’t be nice to the narcississtic twit, she is a WART ON THE BUTT OF HUMANITY! and needs to be surgically removed lol imo

1610desig

People who act like that usually do so out of fear…

26Limabeans

She knows How to sway her constituents.
They want to hear what she has to say and what she has to say is what they want to hear. Stuck in an endless loop of stupid.

NHSparky

Which is fine, but she needs to remember she only represents 0.2% of the population.

A Proud Infidel®™️

Good for her, I’d hate to see the D-rats stop cutting their own throats, one does not interrupt when enemies are doing themselves in!

High Dow Jones does not equal great economy

Pointyhead

It does in this case.

2banana

Yeah – we I am going to bullsh!t on that in the era of obama cheap and easy money through QE and ZIRP.

Corporations borrowed money at 0.001% and bought back their own stock.

Ta-da! Higher stock prices while the economy tanked.

Absolutely nothing to do with the overall condition of the standard of living for the average working stiff.

Roh-Dog

“Corporations borrowed money at 0.001% and bought back their own stock,” commodities, depreciated real estate…
Add that to the Great Consolation of banks and traders (or traitors, YMMV), TARP, TiGER, QE, ‘stress tests’, etc. They turned the financial system from a crate of C-4 into a Teller-Ulam device.

11B-Mailclerk

Corporation bought stock from…. stockholders.

Who then spent or invested that money……

Those rising stock prices also go to the net wealth of millions of ordinary folks who have 401ks, IRA, or other stock-based investments.

I, for one, am far ore willing to spend on major items with the market at 26,000 and the job market roaring. Under zer0, I had to assume we were just one “stroke of the pen” away from yet another debacle, so I did not make many major purchases.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

This is the right answer, those of us capable of investing under Obama did pretty well and we’re doing pretty well with Trump also.

However your last comment was far more indicative of the overall mood of the country regarding a lack of confidence in a continued series of successes while Obama was in office.

Most people in the middle were not confident or comfortable under Obama, and with good reason as real wealth for the middle class stagnated and for the lower income tiers it actually deteriorated and only those of us in the upper 25% were seeing modest growth.

Which is why the election went the way it went. James Carville was right when he said, “It’s the economy, stupid”….in the US it’s always the economy and when folks are not confident that creates a change year election situation. Something the Democrats failed to understand.

Roh-Dog

I’m not arguing that Corporations didn’t benefit and by coincidence, We. My main complaint is that the Gov took a fragile system with systemic problems and made it worse.
I hope this economy keeps going, ad astra, but it is unrealistic to believe, at this point, that it is sustainable.
The rise of tech vs manufacturing, the shifting of tech stock overseas into sovereign fiat currency collateral, the Algos and flash trading…
Don’t even get me started on the massive write-downs on commercial real estate that the banks NEVER did.
The markets may be up, but they’ve GOT to build a decent foundation while they can before the house gets too high

As a citizen I am represented, not ruled, by my consent. Civility dictates that if I am in the minority, as long as the majority comports themselves within the rule of law, we will not have a problem, and I expect the opposite holds true.
If these asshats think for one bleeding moment they can overthrow my government for the sake of their motives, no matter how ‘pure’, I will be left with only one choice: withdrawal of my consent.
Put up a legal motion, that will remove uncertainty and mandate your prescription or get ready for the implementation of force.

AW1Ed

The humanity!

And now I’m hungry for red beans and rice.

Roh-Dog

Warning heeded! But no need to worry, I vote in every election even though here in the People’s Republic of Connecticut it don’t matter.
I just enjoy the idea of pissing off the latte libs by closing the gap.
Voting: the highest form of civil disobedience!

So, move.

Move to a Free State, way from socialist slavery. Deny them your pocket to pick. Leave the Socialists to eat each other.

Laugh as you breathe free air.

AW1Ed

So, move.

Easier said than done.

11B-Mailclerk

Don’t I know it.

“The simple hints are often hard”

But every time someone “goes Galt” and another productive free person escapes out of the sh!t-matrix of proggiedom, the failure of that creepingly-monstrous ideology is that much more obvious.

With the job market roaring, will ther be a better time?

I spoke with one of my immigrant co-workers yesterday, who was telling us how he gave up practice as an MD to move to the USA and wait tables, for years, to get his family out of a failed state. His lesson was that he should not have waited for “failed state”, as the writing on the wall was obvious.

I’ll bring the Buttermilk Corn Bread, and with the help of the economy since Nov ’16, it’ll be a great big cast iron pan full. And yes, I make a very damn good Southern Buttermilk Corn Bread!

Pointyhead

My dad was one of those CCC’ers that went from Georgia to Oregon to build roads up in the western side of the Cascade Mountains.

A Proud Infidel®™️

The more scared the D-rats get, the crazier they go. For one, they’re losing the Black Vote bit by bit, something they’ve taken for granted for decades, ditto with the Hispanic and Blue Collar Voting Blocs, I can’t wait to see what kind of crazy shit they’ll come up with next!

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

Hopefully Trump will trump over the Bridge Of Troubled waters.

Sparks

Excellent article Ex-PH2. You made a point which struck me though. In Roosevelt’s time the CCC, WPA, and PWA succeeded because people WANTED to work. They didn’t want a hand out. If those programs were made available today, what is the likelihood people would, of a sudden, want to work for a living instead of sit of their duffs and take, take, take as their previous generations have done since Johnson? No answer needed. It’s self defining.

But today, to tell people on the dole their benefits will end and a livable wage job made available to them on a certain date, would bring Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and all of the liberal left to their feet in a clamor of ‘racist, racist, racist!’. After all, to actually expect people to work is just so, early twentieth century you know.

In closing, thank you again for a well written piece. I believe in Trump’s mind that if he could get it done the way Roosevelt did, he would. But it would mean the downfall of all Republicans and any hope of a conservative voice in our nation ever again. I guess you have to pick your battles carefully.

rgr769

Right on, PH-2. As I recall, my dog created more “shovel-ready jobs” than 0bama did during his 8 years in power.

HMC Ret

I rarely wish ill health on people, but I’ll make an exception in Waters’ case. I despise the pig. I hope she gets so hopping mad she has a damn stroke and starts babbling on at the mouth. (No, wait, that’s what she does now. Never mind.) I have never in my life so hated a group of individuals as I hate, totally hate all things dummycrat. Lord, forgive me.

AW1Ed

And they brought it all on themselves. The wheels came off when the Dems became so self-righteous that to disagree was treated as an attack. Their way is the only way.
We thought the Dems were wrong. They think we’re evil.
OK, so I’ll get evil.

Docduracoat

Don’t forget the Trump tax cuts. The child deduction was doubled! More money in my paycheck every pay period.
I did my bit and bought a silencer!
Now president Trump needs to do something for us gun enthusiasts.
National concealed carry and hearing protection act passage!

+10000000000000000000000000000000 on your last.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

Did you have to go through a lot of paperwork and waiting for the suppressor Doc? Was thinking about getting one but I’m down in a very populated area. If I lived up in the acreages maybe a different story. Before West Delray was built up, guys that grew up down here were always out in the fields doing plinking and trap shooting and then came the building of condos and transplants from up north like a little over 30 years ago.

11B-Mailclerk

Trump isnt a “gun guy”. Don’t expect much legislatively.

As long as he keeps nominating strict constitutionalist judges, we win. For that alone, he gets my vote in 2020.

5th/77thFA

Excellent post, again Ms Ex. Maybe you should submit this to the NYT for another anonymous letter on “Fear – Tired of Winning Yet!” Wonder if they’d print that? Yeah, right. I’ve voted in every election since ’72. Will there be cookies to go with the red beans and rice? Asking for a friend.

First of all, the bar for impeaching a President is simply a majority in the House. Trump could be impeached by the House for eating cheese on Wednesday. The problem for democrats is the Senate. In order to ‘convict’ Trump in a Senate trial, 67 votes are required. That’s not going to happen. If Trump were to be convicted, there is no dictated punishment.Punishment could range from removal from office, to having a group of Girl Scouts call him bad names.
The talk about removing Trump through impeachment is rediculous.

W2

Yeah, it’ll never happen (impeachment) and if it did the demo’s would be cutting off their nose to spite their face. The way they will deal with Trump is death by a thousand papercuts in committees investigating everything, just like the other side did to the big dog. That knife cuts both ways, so all Trump’s family dirt is going to get dug up, starting with his tax returns and then proceeding from there. Regardless of side, the playbook is pretty much the same.

11B-Mailclerk

If the dems take the Senate back, there are plenty of RINOs that would throw Trump under the bus.

Do you doubt McCain would have voted to convict? Out of sheer spite?

Look at all the self-declared “republicans” who are saying “To fix the Republican Party, vote Democrat!” That gaggle of nevertrumps demonstrate sheer lunacy. (Also their proggie roots)

W2

Dude, seriously. Go pick up the f’ing mail.

A lot of people (moi included) are looking forward to some government oversight over Trump. Dude is a pathological liar. Would you accept a pathological liar at the BDE or BN level leader?

Please, please, please argue with me about him not being a liar. Please, please, please.

We all hate the big dog and hildecankles for being serial liars but are looking the other way now? “It all depends on what your definition of is, is” will live in infamy. So will the 5,000 lies trump has told in less that 2 years.

2/17 Air Cav

A USA op piece of 10 Sept advises readers not to repeat Trump’s lies, lest they be mistaken for truth and help him. Intuitively, I know that advice is sound. It also serves as a plan for those of us who support him: repeat what he says as often as one can to as many people as one can.

W2

Yeah, repeating lies is always a good idea. The Ministry of Truth thanks you.

2/17 Air Cav

I’m glad you agree, but I am unfamiliar with that Ministry of Truth. Is that another term for Big Media?

W2

I knew you catch that reference ex-PH2. In the book “1984” the Ministry of Truth” was responsible for rewriting history to match the party’s proclamations.

Thunderstixx

Don’t doubt anything that PH says on this subject. Even National Review, home of the never Trumpers HQ, agrees with our lady of the

Trump is the only president I can remember that has kept, or tried to keep his campaign promises. He has to fight the dems, rinos and a hostile media every step of the way. Thankfully, us ordinary folks see that and appreciate him. And I hear his picks in the primary’s are doing good too. Sadly, we’re stuck with Dick Burr and Turd Tillis here in NC for a while longer.
