Anti Constitution Liberals fail to purchase Gun Grabbing Authorization from Court.
The Bill known as I-1639 in The Evergreen State fails to pass judicial scrutiny. The Second Amendment Foundation and the NRA fought to protect the Constitutional rights of American Citizens against Gun Grabbers in Court.
The Thurston County Superior Court today ruled in favor of the National Rifle Association and ordered a writ of mandamus to prevent I-1639 from appearing on the ballot. The judge agreed the signature sheets did not comply with state law – the font size was too small to be readable and didn’t include strikethroughs.
“The National Rifle Association is glad to see the court today recognized how negligent, if not worse, gun control advocates were in their signature-gathering for this ill-advised ballot initiative,” said Chris W. Cox, executive director, NRA-ILA.
“We got involved because I-1639 tramples on the rights of Washington state voters, and because the way these anti-gun activists went about pushing their agenda was egregious. We applaud this decision, and will remain vigilant in protecting the constitutional freedoms of all Americans.”
Among other things, I-1639;
- Creates a gun registry for any transfers of commonly owned semi-automatic rifles;
- Introduces a 10-business day waiting period on the purchase of semi-automatic rifles;
- Imposes criminal liability on otherwise law-abiding gun owners who fail to store their firearms to state standards;
- Increases the age limit to possess or purchase semi-automatic rifles from 18 to 21;
- Mandates training prior to purchase;
- And authorizes a $25 fee to be assessed to semiautomatic rifle purchasers.
The initiative proponents will likely appeal the decision to the state Supreme Court and we will continue to advocate on behalf of our law-abiding members in the Evergreen state.

Those who pushed for this nonsense used all kinds of deception and manipulation to get it passed. There is a very simple and straightforward procedure for getting these kinds of things passed. Simply abolish or amend the 2nd Amendment. That is a bridge too far, so they lie and try to cheat the system. I simply follow the “From my cold dead hands” policy. Some of you Gun Nutz out there might disagree with me and say I am soft.
There are some good articles HERE and HERE
The gun control initiative was sponsored by Seattle-based Alliance for Gun Responsibility, which spent more than $3 million to pay for the signature gathering effort.
“A few billionaires donated millions of dollars to buy the signatures to get this fraudulent initiative on the ballot,” Gottlieb observed. “But they couldn’t buy the Court.”

Thank goodness the quoted material referred to Washington. If Hardin had left it as “the Evergreen State” I would have had to google the damn thing. I had a tough enough time learning state capitals.
“the Evergreen State”
And on the other coast, up in the other corner we have the “Pine Tree State”.
Compare and contrast.
Do I have to spell everything out for you. The Soviet is upset you didn’t find her worthy of a dance.
Google will not help you now.
She made my heart dance.
If I tried to dance with the Soviet, she would go Red from embarrassment for having such an awkward partner.
More egregious leftist behaviour. There standard is to enact legislation that makes them “feel good” about the issue, whereas what they inevitably do is punish the innocent for the actions of criminals.
“Like”
I guess their check bounced.
Their eventual stated goal is outlawing guns and banning their use by all except police and (of course their own) armed bodyguards. The ‘feel good’ laws are just steps toward the goal.There are no innocents in their eyes – if you are not one of them and own a weapon, you are their enemy. If they are not yours… well, guess you would be a little shortsighted.
Bingo.
“Gun control” my ass. For the Left, it’s not about guns.
Rather, it’s about control. Complete, total control over what the common people do, say, and think.
The Leftist ruling elite will be exempt, of course. They’ll live by a different set of rules than everyone else.

You know, the calling card for the gun-grabbers is ANY law or proposed law going to rifles. More people are killed every year by getting knifed or beaten to death than are killed by rifles. I don’t care whose stats one looks at or what year, but consistently rifles are not the choice of killers. So, why are the scary black rifles always the first target?
Why? Because they are so much more visible than handguns, knives or fists.
Because it is the NRA’s middle name.
Middle name? So, 26, is that National Rifle Scary Black Rifle Association or National Scary Black Rifle Rifle Association?
NRA does not discriminate based on color. The left especially hates the pink ones. Go figure. Every other industry gets a pass on titty nipple pink except the NRA.
A rifle by any other name …oh fuck it.
Knifed, beaten to death, shot…I’m no Einstein, but the common denominator seems to be “hands”. Think of all the lives we could save if we just outlawed hands. Cue Lennon’s “Imagine”….
If you would take up the violin, there would be no telling you from him. You’re onto something. Is that hands business a penalty or a statute prohibiting hands?
They must be removed at birth. Think of the benefits. Murders go to practically zero. Texting while driving deaths goes to zero. The diabeetus and obesity declines sharply. Honestly, I just don’t see a downside.
Hope! Change! We are the ones we have been waiting for! Vote for GDC!
GDC, are you suggesting that it’s actually PEOPLE who kill people? No. Subversive, independent thinking such as this cannot and will not be tolerated. You must be assimilated! Come to the Ocasio side!
//SARC/?
Put automobiles in with the rest of the mix.
Ask that moron Rahm Emmanuel how his idiotic gun control is working! 61 wounded or killed this weekend!
They’re bawling about guns right now and if they get their way they’ll go bawling for everyone to turn their knives in like in [Formerly] Great Britain right now..
Mr. Hardin, didn’t the Soviet tell you to keep the guns off the carpeting? Everybody knows they belong in the umbrella stand next to the hall tree, so that when you go to answer the door, you will have one handy if you need it.
The correct name for that Seattle-based group is ANGUR (AlliaNce for GUn Responsibility).
Why aren’t they outlawing murder in Washington state? That would be more constructive.
Never been to Washington state, but I did use to live in the People’s Republic of Maryland where we had something like 10 round limits to firearms. Those additional restrictions sure help out a lot with keeping the homicide rate down to a respectable level in cities like Baltimore.
Since I live in the Evergreen State (which is looking mighty brown right now), the gun grabbers were doing everything getting signatures (they were in front of just about every Wal-Mart and grocery store in my AO). So glad to hear that someone had the balls to shut this shit down before November.
We shamed them at the WM here by my house in Spokane, asking them all kinds of questions that they should have the answers to. Several of us got asked to leave the property (with a tongue in cheek grin).
I think it’s time for a legal prohibition on out of state money being “donated” to influence an election or ballot item.
Half of my donations this year have been to out of state contests where they may be more effective than in my own home state of Vermont where we have been overrun by socialists and worse.
JEEEEEEZUS. I got nuthin’. There are 39 counties in Washington, four or five of them seem to attract the insane left. These are; King, Pierce, Snohomish, Thurston, and probably Kitsap. I grew up in Western WA, hunting, shooting, fishing, etc. I know live in Eastern WA still hunting, shooting, fishing, etc.
Those folks west of the Cascades and dwelling in mostly urban or chi-chi suburban communities have been bitten by mad monkeys. Im glad the court struck this bit of legislative masturbation down.
Small world, man. I’m Eastern Washington, too.
They weren’t honest in their signature gathering in more ways than the article mentions, either. Their tables would have a sign saying “remove taxes on food” (our food isn’t taxed, by the way), or something similar from a different initiative, then next to it the sign saying to sign I-1639.
Their entire campaign was a farce of backstabbery, misleading bullshit.
ATLC,
It is good to see another E WA person! Roger in Republic, is well, up in Republic. That makes him an Eastern Washington dude as well.
Sounds typical for the westside. I don’t remember seeing those folks over here in the Tricities area… They were probably afraid of Hanford and getting staked out over a tank of radioactive mixed waste. Until Id lived here for a while, I had no idea how little political punch the east side has.
Hope youre not breathing in too much smoke.
I’m Tri-Cities as well. Can’t help but inhale the smoke.
There were a few of them doing shady things over here. One of my co-workers got a picture of a shady stand at the Kennewick Walmart, and I’ve heard there were similar issues at a few other grocery stores here in town.
Hey, I’m King County. Been here too long to leave as all the kids live either here or in Snohomish County. Sometimes I think we’re the only sane ones.
I used to live in Silverdale, but it’s been a few years. Neither it nor Bremerton seemed particularly liberal at the time. The northern part of Kitsap County probably trends that way with Bainbridge Island as a reflection of King County. It’s only 30 minutes by ferry from Seattle.
Kitsap isn’t too bad, with the exception of Bainbridge island which see itself as part of Seattle. Course it’s getting worse as Seattlites flee over here to escape the rents.
I’m in Clark County – still people with some common sense, but the Portlandia and Cali contingent are trying to buy the place up and bring their socialistic values with them
Billionaires donating a lot of moola shmoola to whittle down the 2A. I wonder how many of these shit birds have armed body guards?
All
Commies always call it “Socialism” because that sounds better.
The left always likes to ignore that fact that Stalin himself was happy to preside over the Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republics…..
A socialist is just a communist without a gun.
The goal of socialism is communism.
Vladimir Lenin
I recently saw a bumper sticker that Team TAH will surely appreciate:
BLACK GUNS MATTER
I’ve got the sticker, and a T-Shirt… came from a gunshop that had a booth at Pendleton Roundup last year…
I got a kick out of seeing signs on a couple of Gun Shops saying “WE sell AR15s because we’re not DICK’S”.
Unfortunately it sounds like it did not appear on the ballot due to a technicality… I’m sure they’ll try again
“judge agreed the signature sheets did not comply with state law – the font size was too small to be readable and didn’t include strikethroughs.”
The groups that sued somehow didn’t get the countless photos of misleading signage at the booths into the lawsuit, and I’m quite annoyed with that.
Molon Labe motherfuckers, Molon Labe.
They’ll be back. I,too, adhere to the “Shall not be infringed” and “cold dead hands” policy. The BS and twisting just never stops does it.
I’ll leave these here:
“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”
– Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Constitution, Draft 1, 1776
“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.”
– Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, January 30, 1787
“Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of.”
– James Madison, Federalist No. 46, January 29, 1788
“The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.”
– Samuel Adams, Massachusetts Ratifying Convention, 1788
My dumbass ex wife used to try and play that ‘but the commas’ and ‘teh militia’ game.
Some people are just too stupid to argue with (or be married to).
^Testify^”
I hope police across the country have thought deeply whether they’ll disarm armericans
I just caught that! And will use it.
Ya’ll need to see a few of Yankee Marshall’s videos about this. He shows who really did the work here, hint – it wasn’t the NRA
Bloomberg, Hanauer, and Paul Allen tried to buy that initiative into being a law.
Their signature gatherers mislead the voters, and didn’t put the entire language of the bill on the petition as required by the applicable RCW.
I woke up to that news of the decision, and gave a little cheer.
