Scott Douglass Weaver confronts SEALs

| July 25, 2018

The San Diego Tribune tells the story of that time local resident 47-year-old Scott Douglass Weaver decided that he was going to shoot at some Navy SEALs with his pellet rifle;

Around 10:30 p.m., Navy SEAL instructors and trainees were conducting a nighttime qualification dive when Scott Douglass Weaver, 47, confronted them near the Halsey Road bridge at Liberty Station, authorities said.

At one point, the man began firing a pellet gun at the divers. A Navy spokesman said that’s when the SEALs called the police.

San Diego Police arrested Weaver for assault with a deadly weapon, threats, brandishing a replica firearm and obstruction, a police spokesman said.

The Navy said no military personnel were injured.

Dumbass.

SFC D

Dumbassery elevated to the nth degree

Frank

Sounds like an attempted suicide

ChipNASA

He’s lucky they called the police.
But they are professionals.
They could have just killed him and disposed of his body.

*should

Thunderstixx

Coulda, woulda shoulda !!!

Mason

Good thing it wasn’t a live fire exercise.

Ex-PH2

No, not ‘should’. Weaver is too stupid to rate a ‘should’.

The correct way to meet SEALs doing nighttime quals is to show up with a folding table, donuts and a big coffee jug from Dunkin Donuts, and mugs with the logo ‘Hell on Wheels’ or something like that.

Pellet gun? What is he? 14? Oh, that’s right – he’s 47. Well, I hope the cops smacked him a good one.

What a flatulent doorknob!

Big John

flatulent doorknob
Ha ha…I like that.

The Al

Well, this did happen in the People’s Republic of Commifornia. It’s possible that’s the only type of gun he could buy

I’ll just add to Jim Croce’s list of things it’s a bad idea to do:

You don’t tug on Superman’s cape.

You don’t pull the mask off the Lone Ranger.

And you don’t shoot a pellet gun at Navy Seals…

David

Surprised no surgical extraction of the pellet gun was needed.

Graybeard

I’m just wondering if Scott Douglass Weaver wasn’t on some kind of drugs.

Sounds like something a meth-head would do (not that Scott Douglass Weaver is, necessarily, a meth-head).

Scott Douglass Weaver is dumber than a score of good-idea fairies.

Another issue is there are a lot of, “Do you know who I am?” types on Coronado. Apparently overpriced shithole condos make people do stupid shit, despite the fact most of the BUD/S trainees are nowhere near these self-righteous dipshits.

And the above mentioned drug addled fucktard is also highly possible.

Peter the Bubblehead

According to the original article, the training was taking place near the former Navy Recruit Training Command location (currently NTC Park) near the USS Recruit, not in Coronado. The area is mostly hotels now and across the bridge from the airport.

It sounds like Scott Douglass Weaver is about far less intelligent than used toilet paper.

What a Knuckle head. In 1979, we had the NYC Parking Meter contract and I was on Smith Street in downtown Brooklyn collecting from the meters when I felt a tugging on the bottom of my pants and looked down to see a BB fall of the pants leg. I scanned the Taxpayer across the street and noticed a rifle barrel sticking out from one of the apartment windows so I told my driver who was following us in the van and he yelled at the person and the barrel disappeared from the window. Another time in Midtown, a guy across the street pointed a laser beam from a pointer at my partner so my partner yelled at the guy.

Club Manager, USA ret.

WTF didn’t you do something more than yell? If you didn’t want to lob a grenade into the window, why not call the cops? Then maybe the idiots would think twice before doing the same stuff to someone else. Then again, if you are dumb enough to be in Brooklyn, that may explain it. I was smart enough to leave three days after my 17th birthday to live with my uncle.

My niegnbor is a mail carrier in the large city next to us. He has been on this route for 20 years and never had a problem. A few years ago a couple of jackasses shot him in the back with a pellet gun. People are stupid.

I think we overlooking the obvious here which in this day and age means everyone was lucky it wasn’t a real rifle.

And found a pic of him from local newscast.

Homeless methsquito. Not terribly uncommon in any part of SD.

DUDE…..c’mon…..I understand you’re all suicidal and stuff and if it’s time for you to end it all, then fine, I’m not going to stand in your way.

But there are more responsible ways to go about it: I would recommend the tried and tested garden-hose-in-the-exhaust method.

Shooting at Navy SEALs is NOT the way to go about it. Think of the poor public service employees who are going to have to clean up your mangled corpse. It’s just not fair on them dude, just plain irresponsible.

2/17 Air Cav

“We recognize we are training in a densely-populated area,” [Navy PIO] Davids said, “We have procedures in place to protect our students.” Um. Ah. A guy shot at your trainees with a pellet gun. It could have been an actual, honest-to-goodness, deadly weapon. So, save the bullshit, Davids. Under some circumstances, the standard go-to phrases just don’t work, and this is one of those circumstances. Two knuckleheads. Davids is the one w/o the pellet gun.

OWB

true dat

Don’t know whether the dude was more stupid or lucky. Lucky that is, that phony Navy SEAL Cliffturd Gregory was not among those shot at. Think of the damage Cliffturd said he can do in 30 seconds to a person’s body, mind, and face is legendary. Of course in Phony SEAL talk, that implies he could get on his knees and blow your mind in a manner you’d consider legendary. Quite the blow hard Cliffturd is.

tsg annabelle

yes…superdooper chiefgunney officer Cliffturd Gregory uses his killer dick lovers to defoots thu enemeez. his hehndz should be registurd. good thing he wurnt hiz bruthuhs urding demz…

sorry, my keybord wont let me use the “EH” key:(

IDC SARC

Shoulda lobbed some CS his way.

Hondo

Due to CA’s environmental laws, that might have gotten them in more trouble than beating the hell out of the guy.

Seriously, this is “rock with lips” dumbazzery. Weaver is lucky the team didn’t take care of him themselves.

Wilted Willy

What a dumbass, I am surprised he was arrested alive and breathing? They should have used his ass for ballast!

Wireman611

Umm… were they LEAD pellets????

Martinjmpr

I’m glad this turned out OK but it does point out a potential security problem.

I’ve wondered why the Navy’s most elite unit trains on the edges of one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the country. I get that you need access to an ocean, and that SD has a big Naval base for support, and I even get that the mild SD weather means training can happen year round.

But you would think the Navy would be able to find a training site that can’t be accessed by Cletus Spucker and his pellet gun.

BubbleSoldier

I do not think such place exists anywhere in California. My BiL talks about a boar hunt on Ft. Hunter-Liggett, where his feckless guide ignored those humongous red pennants on the ranges, and set up their encampment in midst of tank maneuvers.
