Newly found evidence of McCain treachery
I haven’t been a fan of John McCain since he sided with the traitor John Kerry and sold out the Swift boat Veterans back in 2004 denouncing them as dishonest and dishonorable. He was a horrible presidential candidate and only garnered as many votes as he did because of his running mate, Sarah Palin. I have long suspected his vengeful political double dealing ran much deeper than most of us suspected. American Thinker has an article by Monica Showalter relating how Judicial Watch has now confirmed that suspicion.
If you’ve ever wondered why Lois Lerner and the other Deep Staters at the IRS got away with their criminal misdeeds, go read both Showalter and the Judicial Watch report. For those of you who will try to excuse McCain on the basis that it is his staff chief, who actually spoke the words, keep in mind that senatorial staff do not openly advocate such strong positions counter to the beliefs of their bosses. Imagine an admiral’s aide publicly advocating for action diametrically opposed to the wishes of his boss–ain’t gonna happen. This staff leader was obviously doing the bidding of his boss who has long been an avowed enemy of the Tea Party, blaming them for election losses, government shutdowns and vowing to destroy them.
I have drawn fire here at TAH in the past when I expressed my disdain for McCain, particularly when I voiced no remorse that the treacherous old bastard has terminal cancer. If any of my critics should happen to think that my recent bout with possibly terminal cancer should soften that stance, you should think again. Knowing how debilitating cancer treatment can be, my belief that he should step down immediately and let Arizona Governor, Doug Ducey, appoint a replacement is stronger than ever, and not, heaven forbid, McCain’s spouse. How is she possibly entitled to hold that office?
If McCain is not verifiably a traitor to his country like his butt-buddy, Juan Kerry, he is most assuredly a traitor to his political party, a turncoat we need to be rid of, the sooner the better.

Actualy we didn’t, timactual. The South Vietnamese lost. Some facts: The US was a member of SEATO, and South Vietnam was a protected power under that treaty. Thus our taking military action to prevent them becoming a vassal state to the war criminals known as North Vietnam was perfectly legal. Another inconvenient fact is that the Communists never won any military action at company or larger level against US forces from 1965 to the end of US involvement in that war in 1973. Note that date – 1973. After the communist NVA and what was left of the VC SIGNED THE PARIS PEACE ACCORDS, ending that war, there was no US involvement in it. When they started it up again in late 1974, we were not involved. That South Vietnam fell is not in dispute, but we had nothing to do with it. You cannot lose a contest you are not a part of. BTW, one facet of the Paris Peace Accords was that if the South Vietnamese were again attacked, the US would provide them with arms and ammo and such. Since the socialist democrats had gained control of congress, the treaty was not ratified, and as a result the South Vietnamese had nothing to fight with.
I never realized the victors sued for peace….it’s usually the side that knows it can’t win for whatever reason that presses for a diplomatic peace.
We left the south to be slaughtered by commies, we did that politically perhaps instead of militarily but we gave up and let the war come to an end that wasn’t a win for the US.
The fact that the commies never won a major battle is irrelevant because they won the war…strategically their plan was far better than our plan.
Our military might not have surrendered but our politicians did, and in the end it turns out to be a US surrender of sorts. Revisionist history or semantics doesn’t change the fact we claimed we’d protect the south from the commies and we didn’t.

Even worse, Kerner (McCain’s mouthpiece) has been appointed by Trump as Special Council in his own administration. No telling what this guy is doing to undermine Trump.
Like most Vets, I always get a little funny feeling when it comes to McCain. On the one hand, we know what he suffered years ago at the hands of our enemy. Thus, we have had a tendency to deny the ugly truth about his political waywardness. On the other hand, there’s Turncoat McCain. The trepidation, the reservation I had about calling McCain what he is ceased for me several years ago. And I have no regrets, especially since he has shown that his sense of loyalty and decency is long gone. Like KKK Robert Byrd, who drooled his way through his last several years in office, McCain is effectively done. And like Byrd, he won’t go because it is the right thing to do. He’ll wait until the grim reaper takes him.
my understanding of Mccain is that the right thing to do is the last thing he has ever done. His whole life has been about caring solely about himself.
His fate in the hands of the Nort Vietnamese included as there are credible sources convinced he collaborated with them to make his own lot better.
Which would fit in with the arc of his life story if true.

I really can’t understand wanting to stay in D.C. when terminally ill. Go home, spend time with the wife, kids, grandkids. Why would you want you final days to be in that cesspool? They say that nobody on their deathbed wishes they spent more time at work. Apparently McCain disagrees with that adage.
McCain doesn’t have much time left, so he’ll just continue to be a spiteful, bitter old man since that is all he knows. The only reason I voted for him in the 2008 general election was that the other guy was worse. I voted for Huckabee in the primary even though McCain already had clinched the nomination. Kind of like how I voted for Cruz in the last go around and then found out that Trump had clinched the nomination an hour later. Fortunately, Trump turned out to be better than I expected.

When he called those who wanted to secure the border “cuckoo birds” I figured it was okay to dislike him as much as he dislikes us. And his insistence on keeping that title, Senator, when he cannot do the job just confirms it. Any “officer and gentleman” worthy of the name would have put the welfare of the citizens of Arizona ahead of his own ego.
Since it is considered bad form to speak ill of the dead we should probably get it out of our systems now.

Have always tried to keep a healthy amount of respect for the man simply because only those who lived through it have any idea what is tolerable and at what point they might break. Not for me to judge.
However, he has managed to tip the respect scale to the negative side with me by his actions since then. The big one for me was the declaration that no MIAs exist In SEA. Yeah, right. If only it were that easy we cold solve a lot of problems. That depth of delusion is not appreciated and should not be rewarded.

Confirms what I’ve thought about him for a long time now.
He’s been a RINO for years, but conspiring with the Obama administration’s flagrant abuse of power against their (and apparently McCain’s) political enemies is pure treachery.
I can’t begin to imagine what it was like to be a POW, and for that I gave him props for what he & others had to endure.
But…….my turning point with McCain was when he supported Scary Kerry against the Swift-boat vets. In essence he was calling all of them liars.
Time to pack it in and leave Washington, John.

His true character revealed, for the whole world to see. I think I’ll indulge in a little schadenfreude. Well, maybe more than a little.
I can’t think of anyone more deserving of having what little remains of their reputation utterly destroyed. He is a complete disgrace.
I’m glad Poe mentioned the swift boat veterans in his post. I started paying attention to the federal government sometime after McCain V. Obama so I missed that whole Kerry episode. I tried to straighten it all out later but the rhetoric was too strong on each side and it wasn’t the hot issue anymore, so everything I could find was fossilized in place and I couldn’t determine a conclusion on Kerry’s service.
Anybody have a link to a thorough rundown of the facts and what happened? I would greatly appreciate it.

The true details are that a Navy swift boat could not navigate the area in Cambodia where he says he went. Moreover, Kerry said Pres. Nixon sent him there in Dec. 1968. But as anyone with a brain knows, Nixon was not sworn in until Jan. 20, 1969. All Kerry’s lies about his service are laid out in documented detail by John O’Neil in his book on Kerry’s service and anti-war actions.
In addition, Kerry falsely claimed to have inserted a CIA agent in Cambodia with his Swift Boat. As proof, Kerry claims he still has the hat the man gave him. However, during the approximately four (4) months Kerry was in the Viet of the Nam (before he figured out how to escape the war), all cross-border clandestine ops into Cambodia were under the direct control of MACVSOG, not the CIA. Maj. John Plaster’s book on the history of MACVSOG lays out how it took over all cross-border ops from the CIA in 1966 or 1967 (IIRC).
I might add there was a second book published with the support of the Swift Boat Veterans about the time Kerry started running for President. The only men who supported Kerry were a handful of Swift Boaters, some of whom were not on his crew for the three months he commanded a swift boat.
John O’Neill wrote “Unfit for Command” (2004); it is available from Amazon.

MM, consider these two points in favor of the Swift vets being correct in their assertions:
1) Kerry promised to open up his military records at a later date for public viewing. He never did. One theory held by some investigators is that he had received a less than honorable discharge by the Navy for his unauthorized meetings with the North Vietnamese delegation in Paris. This was later upgraded to honorable by Jimmy Carter shortly after taking office. Nevertheless, Kerry knew that original bad discharge would kill his chances of becoming president, even with Democrats.
2) Kerry vowed to sue the Swift Vets for defamation. He never did in spite of having the best defamation case in the history of this country had the Swiftees been untruthful. After all, the case could be made that they had cost him the presidency, and a lot of material damages could be attached to that. But Kerry, being a lawyer, knew full well that you cannot win a defamation suit if your opponent is telling the truth. Also, he knew that the discovery process would require him to release his military records in the discovery process and reveal that bad discharge and also his bad fitness reports. So he never made good on his threat.
His supporters did indeed do everything they could to destroy everyone associated with Swift Boat Vets, especially those that got national attention. Lost jobs, lost homes, and all sorts of other nasty business. Americans simply should not have to suffer such things for telling the truth.

As somebody who was 9thInfDiv/MRF I definitely know some folks who know some folks. Even ran into a guy a few years ago here in NorCal who skippered a boat on which I rode in ’68. One of his best buddies is one of THE Swift boat Vets. Yeah, we held up the line at the window for a few minutes discussin’ John F’in’ Kerry.
I, myself, have given up on McCain. Wish he’d just go away. Unfortunately, there was a story a few weeks ago that he was meetin’ with the AZ Governor, possibly to make sure his Senate seat stays in the family.

I’d have respected him if he hadn’t made himself out to be Rambo, singlehandedly fighting the war. If he’d said, “I got hurt three times, minor injuries, but didn’t want to die on the other side of the Earth from home, so I took the three PHs and went home,” he’d at least have been honest.
At least Gore was a little more honest in that regard. Used his connected Senator-dad to score an in-country but cushy position. Check the “war veteran” box for his planned presidential run.
Sp4 Gore had a buck sgt. assigned to him to make sure he didn’t go anywhere or do anything that would get him killed, wounded or otherwise hurt. Big Army knew his senator daddy would bring great grief to bear on DOD if anything happened to the worthless little turd of an Army “reporter.” Then he finagled an early out to attend divinity school. Instead, he went to law school, but flunked out. After that, daddy’s political connections got him a job as a reporter on a Tennessee newspaper.
He was also a volunteer lineman during the ice storm of 1998.

That phony, pansy-ass, turd-smoking, political hack got three boo-boos that the rest of us considered part of the job, like a carpenter getting a splinter, and parlayed that into a ticket home and a political career. I have seen guys in a coma for one purple heart for longer than he spent getting medical care for all three of his.
The only other person I know who got a purple heart for an injury as trivial as his was a guy we wanted out of the unit. He got a boo-boo, was recommended for a PH by acclamation, and was gone the next day. I suspect the same may have happened to Kerry.

I understand that for whatever Nixon was, he WAS a patriot, and he wanted to go after kerry, but he ran into his problems which resulted in his resignation before “sadly” he could nail kerry!

sKerry was just one of many anti-Americans from the era but his rise to influence is a great case study. They must not be forgotten as we who knew them die off. Their trainees are out there for you to deal with.

Well, that firmly tips the scale against McCain. I have had mixed feeling for quite a time about him. His POW status scored quite a few points with me in his favor. Now, though, it appears he was in collusion with the scummy Dummycrats in an attempt to destroy any group not towing the liberal line. I’m really disappointed learning this but not surprised.
I don’t wish his cancer on him, or anyone.

2008 was a pretty shitty field, as I recall. Once Huckabee and Romney went after each other, McCain had pretty smooth sailing. Plus, the media backed McCain to the hilt and he was stupid enough to believe that the media would love him in the general. Hey, McCain! The media only loves you when you go after other Republicans! Not the smartest man, graduated close to the bottom of his class and an incompetent pilot to boot.
I read more than once that John McCain was quite a mediocre Pilot at best BUT his Daddy being an Admiral kept him from being cashiered out. I remember listening to a popular Conservative Talk Show Host discuss how President Trump’s predecessor being elected might not have been as bad as McVain being elected because he likely would have been the proverbial Death by a Thousand Cuts to the GOP and the political right. Either way he has chosen to go out as a venomous, bitter, rejected old man.

I first realized McCain was a sack of shit Thanksgiving ’07. I was a young, boot PFC in central Iraq, who was suddenly realizing politics mattered, and I should pay attention to him.
His youngest son, James, was with Alpha 1/1 at the time. I was stuck on camp guard at Habbaniya, where H&S and the Battalion COC were based. McStain got the brilliant idea he’d come over and visit James over there in Iraq for Thanksgiving dinner.
I was supposed to have the evening off, as I wasn’t on react or post at the time. Instead, I ended up guarding the DFAC for that sack of shit so he could have Thanksgiving dinner with his son. I didn’t get Thanksgiving dinner, to say the least.
That got me looking into his record after I got back from Iraq. It’s despicable. Cancer sucks. I get that. But I’ll take being called cold and calloused to see his ass off the hill for good.
James, for the record, is a stand-up guy. No political aspirations, still serves in the Guard after finishing his stint with the Marines and an active stint with the Army. He’s down-to-earth. Actually ripped Alpha’s NCOs for handling him with white gloves. He was rather upset with his dad pulling strings to visit him in-country, too.
I guess that McCain thought that since he was no longer an active duty officer he didn’t have to pretend to care about the enlisted swine anymore.
And though it pains me to say it, you not getting Thanksgiving dinner is on your CO, not McCain.
We had to pull post on the DFAC because reasons.
The DFAC was run by KBR. They didn’t keep it open late. By the time we were done with the dog and pony show, it was a done deal. Guard was informed about this at the last minute, so we had basically no prep time. In the mayhem, no one thought to snag extra hot plates out of the DFAC for those of us who suddenly were out and posted.
While my powers-that-be dropped the ball there, it still doesn’t explain why he felt the need to throw his weight around and visit his son in Iraq. It speaks to a completely selfish lack of regard for the mission we were there to accomplish, as well as to the thousands of troops who couldn’t see their families for the holidays.
McCain’s days are numbered. Sunset comes quickly for people like him. If you watch closely, you’ll see the green flash when his light goes out.
You’d think he’d show some dignity at the end, wouldn’t you?

McCain dishonored himself as part of the Keating Five quite some time ago.
He’s a perfect example of someone who suffered through something that makes him a tragically heroic figure, but then becomes a perfect example of corruption and dishonor in office.
I won’t disrespect his service, but just because someone did something difficult while they served it doesn’t excuse every day of their life afterwards.
You earn a medal for something brave in a combat theater good on you, you don’t a free pass for using your office like a fucking ATM for personal gain afterwards.
That is the biggest problem with today’s focus on calling everyone a fucking hero. It’s as if we’re never supposed to disagree with these people later in life, or to call them out for subsequent misdeeds.
Decent and honorable people do not seek office more than once. By then they know how the sausage is made.
