Jury recommends death penalty for Andrew Urdiales, ex-Marine
An Orange County, California jury recommended the death penalty for 53-year-old Andrew Urdiales, a serial killer while he was in the Marine Corps in Southern California.
In 1986, Urdiales drove from Camp Pendleton to Saddleback College in Mission Viejo and approached 23-year-old Robbin Brandley at a parking lot, OCDA said. He stabbed her 41 times with a hunting knife and fled.
In 1988, Urdiales picked up 29-year-old Julie McGhee in Indian Wells and drove to a remote area in Cathedral City, according to officials. He shot her in the head after having sex with her. Urdiales left her body, took some of her belongings and fled, OCDA said.
Less than three months later, Urdiales picked up 31-year-old Mary Ann Wells in San Diego, gave her money and drove her into an alley, officials said. After having sex with her, Urdiales shot her in the head and took back the cash he gave her.
In 1989, Urdiales picked up 18-year-old Tammie Erwin and drove to a secluded area in Palm Springs, where he had sex with her, according to OCDA. He used the same gun to kill McGhee and Wells to shoot Erwin in the head and hip, officials added. He then dismantled the weapon and disposed of the parts separately.
Three years later, Urdiales drove to a bus stop and offered Jennifer Asbenson a ride to work in Palm Springs, OCDA said. The next day, he “lured” her into his car, took her somewhere isolated in the Palm Springs desert and beat and sexually assaulted her. He locked her into the trunk of his vehicle, but she was able to escape.
Urdiales was sentenced to death in Illinois in 2011, but the State abolished the death penalty and his sentence was commuted to life without parole…then California extradited him for their own trial.
Yeah, Charles Manson was sentenced to death in California, too.
Category: Crime
I imagine if he was from Mexico, he would be a hero in the californian liberals eyes and hidden from the Feds.
/SARC
Commiefornia would have extradited him, just so they could release him, not try him.
Well…first they need to skin him alive..THEN hang him, after they roll him in a vat of rock salt….imho
In cases like this, I refer to the wisdom of great Cuban philosopher Tony Montana;
“Manny, choot dat piece of chit!”
According to this, there have been 13 executions in CA since 1978. The last one was 2006. The deceased was 76 years old:

Urdiales is 53. Who knows, perhaps Karma down the road will catch up with him and he will meet his Maker, that is, if he ever believed he had one.
Hopefully Karma catches up to him quickly and literally rips his balls out and breaks every last bone in his worthless sack of a body.
Yup, so very doubtful that California will execute him even if he receives the death penalty there. So, life without parole it most likely stays. A serial killer like this deserves to be put down, but as long as he never gets out to hurt anyone else, that may have to suffice.
Being a Marine has nothing to do with this case.
Besides, I mean, most all Marines are a little touched in the head, just to pull off being a Marine, but this guy, he was way above and beyond.
Marine can be serial killers, of the enemy, but random young women in Southern California?
Yeah, no.
The Chicago public school system had him longer than the USMC but “Graduate of Chicago Public Schools Sentenced to Death” isn’t sexy enough.
The fact the death penalty is so rarely (if ever) used outside of 3-4 states is probably why I lean against it.
What good is a punishment if you’re never gonna use it?
Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, Ohio, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Missouri created cell space for another 23 death-row inmates just last year. Note that there’s a distinct southern bias.
Texas will kill you back.
What they should be doing is emptying the occupied ones to make room, not creating more indefinite holding cells.
I have never heard of this guy before today.
I am, to say the least, shocked and disgusted.
Mostly I’m pissed off that this guy could have ever shared the title of MARINE with me, and all my fellow Marines.
He truly is one of the rarest of the rare….an EX-marine.
You’ll notice I didn’t capitalize “marine”…he doesn’t deserve the title, I don’t give him the title.
My personal unsolicited opinion in this case is relatively simple. The death sentence is an easy way out for those who have earned it. Keeping them locked up in cages for decades is a better source of long suffering for them in return for their deeds. As far as costing the taxpayers for all those years of three hots and a cot, for damned sakes quit coddling them. Either they work or they don’t eat. Let them go on hunger strikes hoping they will die, meanwhile every so often put a big tray of filet mignon. fresh corn, potatoes and a big piece of chocolate cake just out of reach outside their cell door. Eventually they will come around after drooling for some food. Feed them only after they go back to work again. All the time, allow only the Food Channel on their television. Bound to be better idea on TAH, but this is at least a start.
It’s not economics. It would be cheaper to house them for life in nearly all cases. The costs of years and years of appeals is astronomical.
Yep that is why we should either have some court reform or just keep them locked up for life. Court reform won’t happen so looks like in prison it is.
And yeah the overwhelming majority on death row prefer being alive in prison to going to their great reward, whatever that might be.
the cost of keeping them in prison is astronomical as well.
The real question is this; why punish the law abiding tax payer with the cost of the criminal?
The fundamental problem with the justice system is that it punishes us, not the criminals.
I disagree.
Being alive in prison is always better than being dead.
As long as you are alive there is hope of getting out, escaping, getting a pardon, the law changing, californians overtaking the rest of the country, millennials getting to power and releasing all inmates, the zombie apocalypse, aliens from Tau Ceti invading Earth, or the technological singularity making everybody immortal.
Dead is dead and cannot escape, which is why I support killin all the dudes that need killin.
“Being alive in prison is always better than being dead.”
Question for you, Yef:
How would you know that?
Yef,
So heard “Being alive in prison is always better than being dead” from your relatives in prison or did you serve time?
How stupid are you and did you were in the military?
What country?
Yef, that wax is for the hallway floors, NOT huffing!
Yef… stop. Just stop. you’re submitting those three brain cells in your brain housing group to extreme trauma every time you post here.
Go buff the floor in the CP…
Just shot them cost 33 cents. Lifelong food and board-hundreds of thousands.
Kill this son of a bitch.
Sums it up perfectly for me.
I am 70 now, and he will easily outlive me.
I met a Marine recently who I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a serial killer.
Wasn’t me, but I did kill two boxes of Blueberry Chex within a month just recently. As for thoughts about keeping an animal locked up in a cage, that seems like far worse punishment to me. If I was to change my mind and go along with the “Kill the hell out of ’em” crowd, I’d do so ONLY if that meant death by the gas chamber. This so-called “civilized” death by lethal injection makes it so comfortable for an animal to pass on. A comfort none deserve, considering their charges.
1. Rope.
2. Tree or Gallows.
3. Andrew Urdiales.
Some assembly required.
All States that have the Death Penalty need to put them down like Texas does. Compared to other States, their Death Row is an express lane.
