“The occupant reported to have been awoken after hearing a noise, retrieved a firearm, then confronted the suspect inside the residence,” the news release said.
“The occupant discharged a firearm three times, striking the suspect at least once before the suspect fled on foot.”
Police said that residents are asked to report any suspicious activities and to secure homes by locking doors and windows.
As of 1 p.m. Thursday, Roanoke Rapids police and area law enforcement agencies are actively searching for the suspect, officials said.
From Dallas, Texas;
One armed homeowner shot and injured a person who tried to break into his home early Thursday morning in far south Dallas, police say.
Police were sent to investigate a report of a home invasion around 3:20 a.m. Thursday in the 3100 block of Cliff Creek Crossing Drive.
When they arrived, officers learned that an armed homeowner had used a pistol to fire on two people who entered his house with guns and demanded money, police said.
One of the robbery suspects was shot multiple times and was taken to a local hospital, police said.
The other robbery suspect fled from the scene and remains at large, authorities said.
From Memphis, Tennessee;
Police say the tables were turned on a Tennessee robber when he was shot by his own gun.
Memphis detectives said a victim was able to get a hold of a gun during a robbery along Broadcrest Drive, FOX 13 reported.
Suspect Deandre Nolen went to rob another man, when a fight ensued and the victim was able to grab Nolen’s gun and shoot him in the leg.
Police said the victim also detained Nolen until officers arrived on the scene.

Police say the driver was making a delivery in that area, when the he came out from the business and noticed two men attempting to steal meat from the back of his truck.
Police said the driver got into a scuffle with one of the suspects who was armed with a box cotter. The owner of the meat company, who is a CPL holder, fired a fatal shot at the suspect.
photoThe driver suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, non fatal. DPD does not know at this point how the driver got that wound. The second suspect got away, and police do not know if he was armed with a gun.

I had to read that story a couple of times to figure out how the guy who broke his arm fit in. At a guess, he was probably beating feet to get out of Dodge. Sure hope the birthday celebrants recover well and speedily.
Thank goodness for the armed and able citizen who cashed out the villain.

Today’s armed citizen batting line analysis: today, we have six total perps.
Of the six, one perp is DRT/DOT; one is in the hospital as the result of multiple instances of involuntary high-speed heavy metal injection therapy; three other perps also received involuntary high speed heavy metal injections; the last two perps are on the run, presumably with soiled trousers; and zero attempted crimes were successful.
In baseball terms, that’s a 4-for-4 day at the plate with 1 HR, a second extra-base hit, and 2 singles – plus 2 BBs. Impressive.
Too bad about the truck driver in Detroit getting shot, though. Hopefully he makes a rapid and complete recovery.
And the guy in Memphis was lucky as hell. You should never depend on a criminal to provide you with a firearm when you need one – you should provide your own.

One question regarding the meat truck: don’t those morons realize that in this advanced day and age, meat has to be kept refrigerated at all times, or it will go bad on you?
An Oklahoma CCW holder smoked a would-be mass-shooter at the door of a Louie’s restaurant in OKC last night. Three customers injured, but they’re said to be recovering. Armed citizen engaged the shooter and left him assuming ambient temperature.
I guess the two perps wanted wanted the trucks product because you can’t beat their meat. Can anyone out there this “beat” this one.
