Houston Texas – they may be trying to determine why the owner was sleeping in the business. Has a similar case in Arizona years ago, bar owner got tired of someone breaking into his establishment night after night, then making off with booze and cash to the nearby reservation. He started sleeping in the back room, shot the intruder the next break-in and was charged with murder because he was ‘laying in wait’ in order to kill the thief.
And there is little to steal in the typical “inspection sticker” store nowadays in Texas – the physical inspection stickers are no longer used and all the inspection results are passed electronically to the state. No stickers to black market.
Looking at the photo at the link, it appears that the establishment focuses more on tires.
Most of the Texas inspection stations of which I am aware have that as a tertiary service to their main income generating activities.
Son, this here is Texas, it don’t matter if the business owner sleeps in his shop normally or not. The perp broke in, the owner shot him, the DA doesn’t have to deal with the perp – everybody is happy.
‘Cept, perhaps, Perp’s Mama.
Damned right, they need to take the DA out and horsewhip his ignorant ass imho!
If it were me…
“Well, officer, after such a long day of hard work supporting my family and paying my taxes, I must have dozed off at my desk. Next thing I know, I wake up to the sound of a break-in”
Don’t mess with J’s S ticker Station. He’ll shoot ya in the noggin. Best deterent out there!
