Phony combat pilot wants “Fairness Doctrine”

| February 11, 2009

At Politico, Michael Calderone writes that Tom Harkin, phony Vietnam-era combat pilot, wants to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine and told Bill press as much, on Press’ own radio show;

BILL PRESS: All we want is, you know, some balance on the airwaves, that’s all. You know, we’re not going to take any of the conservative voices off the airwaves, but just make sure that there are a few progressives and liberals out there, right?

SENATOR TOM HARKIN (D-IA): Exactly, and that’s why we need the fair — that’s why we need the Fairness Doctrine back.

I guess Harkin is tired of having his constituents reminded that he’s a phony Vietnam-era combat pilot every time he speaks. More liberal radio personalities means less times they’ll hear that he’s been stealing other REAL combat pilots’ valor for more than thirty years.

What? You haven’t heard that Tom Harkin is a phony Vietnam-era combat pilot? Well, here’s the story at Instapundit, Michelle Malkin and Ace.

Bill Press is upset because he was on our local 620 AM WRAL a few years back, but he lost his job to Fred (Love Boat’s Gopher) Grandy when listeners got tired of his BDS. Then he headlined the Obama 1260 radio station which went off the air a few days back. So I guess he figures that the Fairness Doctrine is the bailout his career needs.

With phony Vietnam-era combat pilots like Tom Harkin on his side, Press should be able to be a phony radio star.

Tom Harkin,…Tom Harkin? You know in all my years as Al Hubbard’s co-pilot, I never met him.

Claymore

I remember it like it was yesterday, man. We had just taken off from Poohn Tang Airbase and were cruising at 40,000 ft when I got a message from our CAG saying we needed to torpedo a host of sampans on the Heung Lo River. I rolled my Phantom over and targeted them with my .50cal machine guns knowing the whole time I was probably shooting at some poor rice farmer. We tore through those guys like paper, many of them exploding all over the place and throwing shrapnel into my bird’s propeller. My navigator whispered into the headset, “Man, we’re nothing but murderers.” That’s when I knew this war was bullshit, man. Total bullshit.

“just make sure that there are a few progressives and liberals out there”

What? There’s a difference between the two?

Raoul

The Sniper,

“Progressives” are liberals who are too ashamed to admit they are “liberals”.

HoosierArmyMom

That’s a good definition Raoul! I may have to quote you on that sometime.

Remember the good ole days when liars and traitors were hung or shot!

You know, if the folks who own and operate the leftist radio stations had something worthwhile to say, perhaps they’d actually have, you know, audiences?

What kills me is that they already have a publicly-funded platform (PBS, NPR, et al) and have the major newspapers, magazines and television stations on their side. If they can’t adequately get their message out that way, then what are they expecting.. ? Oh.. wait… I know..

What they mean by the “Fairness Doctrine” is the ability to shit down voices that disagree with THEIR point of view. Ah, I get it now. Too dangerous, you know, to allow the conservatives to have unfettered access to the media markets. All that talk about freedom, rights, things like that. Stuff the leftists fon’t want folks to hear because it might actually give the people ideas about free markets, private property, self-determination.

The left can’t allow that. they have decided that only THEY have the ability to govern, and they know what’s best for us, so in order to stay in power, they have to silence the opposition.

Bassids. Everyone of them.

Hey, Claymore, you may not have noticed, but that was me in the Warthog behind you, flying blind drunk and whacked out on dope, like all of us were back then, according to Hollywood – but when I dropped the heat seeking WP rockets and leaned out of the cockpit to fire my silenced M-60 offhand, I saw those poor rice farmers and their pet kittens exploding in a bloody mush and a purple haze and i said –
Hey! I gotta re-up, ASAP!
’cause that’s just the kinda heartless killing machine they made me.
Before they got me, I used to play with Barbie dolls and sometimes, when no one was looking, peek down their tops.
I plan to write a book about it all, real soon! And if I get a radio show, you can be my first guest!!

ALL,

Bill Press’ show is proped up by the Center For American Progress (John Podesta). What a crock of crapola.

I wonder how Tom Harkin would feel about requiring that NPR give equal time to Hugh Hewitt and various other serious conservatives, or, even more fun, a requirement that half of university faculty and staff be conservatives. It would be fun to make the suggestion and then watch the douchebag have a coronary.

AW Tim

“The Fairness Doctrine” is the same thing as “Bipartisanship” to the Dems. Conservatives are shut up and ignored.

eeyore

Harkin was angry because Rush Limbaugh was being played on American Forces Radio. NPR had 24 hours and Rush had 1. He wanted Rush removed. It is no surprise he would want the Fairness Doctrine reestablished and possibly cover the web as well.

Frankly Opinionated

These dumbassed asswipes don’t know that what is in play now IS the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE in all its glory. Those who want to can listen to whom they want to. Unsubsidized,(except for the lefties), talk radio, has sponsors who buy time where there are listeners; what a concept! Unfortunately, the lefties can’t get George Soros, Rosie O’Dumbass, or Airhead Huffington to buy ads on their shows. No substantive content equals no listeners. No listeners equals no sponsors. Fair as hell. Any of you trolls care to comment on how todays talk radio is not “Fair”? Bring it on, we readers here would like you to enlighten us, please.
